Harry P. Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 You won't see too many models like this posted here "Under Glass," they aren't everyone's cup of tea. But they are one of my areas of interest (Brass Age vehicles). These are all 1/16 scale, all of them have been detailed and have many added scratchbuilt details not found in the kits. In chronological order beginning with Karl Benz's 1886 Motorkutsche ("motor coach")...
Ramfins59 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Nice stuff Harry. You did fantastic work on all of them.
DynoMight Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Rarely seen models on my LHS shelves. Good job on these Harry. Didn't even know that kits of these existed... I like them all, especially the 1/8 scale one.. They look like diecasts, they're so good.
Harry P. Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Rarely seen models on my LHS shelves. Good job on these Harry. Didn't even know that kits of these existed... They are all long out of production, most date from the '70s. The only place to find these kits today is on ebay, and they only pop up once in a while.

Harry P. Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Wow they look really good for kits from the 70s. Do you have to do a lot of clean up on these kits? Oh yeah! Big time. And I added a lot of scratchbuilt details to each of them. For example, I built the ladders on the fire truck of real wood. I added scratchbuilt tops to a few of them. Most (not all) of these kits are very simple and basic out of the box.
wayne swayze Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Great to see older builds. You have an excellent body of work there Harry. They aren't my cup of tea, but you can't deny the degree of excellence you've achieved. Thanks for the look.
disabled modeler Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I dig them...the old brass cars looked classy to me.
pturley84 Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 These are awesome Harry! Any kind of car is my cup of tea lol. I would love to go motoring in one of these coaches! I'm glad to see some of your work. You are a fantastic builder!
bbowser Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Great collection Harry. Everyone should visit "Big Boyz" to see a closer look at most of these. Harry puts a lot of work into these basic kits. I've been collecting a few myself lately, the old Aurora kits, and I can tell you they are pretty simple - low parts count. Harry has really put some work into these!
Duntov Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Harry these are just so nice ---- I really like the blue one!!! The F2 racer is pretty spectacular as well!!
freakshow12 Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Those are so cool. I enjoyed the build of the fire engine the most. Very nice work
TooOld Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Those are excellent Harry ! Are they all Aurora kits or some other manufacturer ? You've peaked my interest in these !
Harry P. Posted July 23, 2014 Author Posted July 23, 2014 Those are excellent Harry ! Are they all Aurora kits or some other manufacturer ? You've peaked my interest in these ! Some are Aurora... some are Minicraft...a few are Entex (or some variation, they were issued over the years under several brands), the Fiat F2 race car is a Pocher. Each of these was originally posted in the Big Boyz section, and each with a detailed step-by-step WIP if you're interested. Here is just one example: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=83483
Miatatom Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 There aren't enough superlatives to describe your work. If I'm ever half that good, I'll be better than I thought I'd ever be.
