Very Cool!! Love the finish on the body! I think the contrast between the early body style and the late style wheels is a nice touch! Keep up the good work! -
2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Sixgunner68 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
I hope it's okay, and not too late to post in here. Sorry about the lack of progress pics, but I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. This is the first kit bash, and weathering I have ever done to a model. But thanks to the Doc's videos on salt-weathering, oil washes, and scratch building, I think it came out okay. I started with the AMT '67 Impala street machine kit and combined it with the wheels and tires from Revell's Interstate Batteries Funny Car snap-kit. I scratch built the flamethower, and flamethrower tanks from some of the kit parts and some parts box goodies. I call this one "Backdraft". Thank you Doc for all your videos and tips, they really helped out! -
Very cool!! Great job!

Who's gonna help fly "Airwolf"? The kids loved him as Mermaid Man on Spongebob. R.I.P. -
I'll be watching this one. Fell in love with the Merc after watching the one Stallone drove in the movie "Cobra".

The wilder, the better!!! I"ll be following this one!!!

Great job on this one, plus I'm a rail fan so that makes it twice as nice . I've always wanted to do a big rig, but to be honest, I'm a little bit intimated by them . Keep up the good work !!! P.S. I have a friend who works for, well I still refer to it as Conrail, along with his brother and their father. It would be nice to see one in the Conrail blue and white livery hint, hint... -
How do I figure out scale?
Sixgunner68 replied to mnwildpunk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Woodland Scenics has a conversion calculator on their website, although it's geared toward model railroaders, it has a "custom scale" calculator that you can input any scale that you are using. It will convert "actual" millimeters, centimeters, inches, feet, yards, and meters to the "scale" measurement or vice versa. They also have a free smartphone app that I use on my phone. I found it in the marketplace one day by searching for "models". -
I think most hobbies are a form of escape. During your "real" life you have a set of expectations placed on you that you don't have when modeling. If I want to go from working on a hot rod, to working on a P-51 Mustang, to an X-wing, no one will come in and tell me that I'm "off task". I expect one day that a doctor will tell me "Sand two halves of an engine/transmission combo and call me in the morning". Plus, I have never owned a new car in my life, so i always have some 1:1 car trouble to deal with (the wife's CRV is leaking coolant this morning ). It's kind of nice to know that i won't wake up in the morning and find a puddle of something under my model car . I dont worry about drivetrain geometry, I'll never have to worry if the mods I make will hurt my trade-in value, and if I want to put a blown 454 big block in a mini cooper, who cares? And for Dr. Cranky, if I want to add a fully-automatic, belt-fed machine gun and an atomic-powered death-ray to my 1949 Mercury Custom, I'll never have to worry the the Dept. of Homeland Security will fire 125 warning shots in my back as I make a mad dash to the garage in a last ditch effort to make it to my end of the world "preppers" hideout .

Hi, Slusher!!! I know your work from the "other" forum and am glad to see you here and look forward to seeing some more of your work over here too. I was always impressed by your builds and appreciated the positive feedback that you gave to other builders. -
Looks like I may have to put this one on my "Buy" list !!! Don't tell the wife though, she says I have enough kits that I need to finish already . Plus she just busted me trying to print one of Hobby Lobby's 40% off coupons ).

Justin, He has a video on page 42 (I think) that said to e-mail him and he would send you the information on where to send your models. Hope that helps!!! -

Kinda of creepy, but very well done. Looks like you have everything in there but the kitchen sink (might have to look again, maybe I just missed it ) !!!
