  1. That's a great idea, Ken, it could be a very lucrative enterprise. Let us know when you have the first run ready to ship ?. I figure about 40 bucks per kit.....right?
  2. Oooo yeah, I like it! The green is such a nice shade....I have a can in my "inventory" and can't wait to paint something with it ?. I think maybe the Futura was designed with thin people in mind. Not much hip room ?.
  3. Consider yourself fortunate on your first car. Mine was a '61 Rambler American wagon. Not cool. A flathead six that burned oil. After that, it was a '60 American inverted bathtub. When the clutch went south, this $90 wonder was replaced by a fairly decent $25 '56 Ford custom sedan with a snappy 272 with automatic transmission. It too had an oil loss issue that ended its life on I-95 in Providence one fine day. Following that one was a nice dark blue '62 Ford Sunliner. 352 auto. There was also a '62 Ford long-roof for a short time.... I could go on.....it doesn't get better, though. There was one car that would be somewhat desirable today; a '66 Comet, stick-six 2 door post coupe. Burgundy with a black roof. Of course I screwed that one up. ?
  4. Still have a bit to go. I'm running into final assembly issues, the usual sort; dash/windshield interference. Was nearly there and had to tear it apart to fix it. And then there's the bumpers ?.
  5. Yes, of course...who can argue with that? ?
  6. Why do we never see that? ? probably because back in the golden era of hot-rodding nobody wanted a Chevy. The Ford V8 was king and Fords were just plain cool. Why bother with a Chevy? ? ( I'm gonna get some flack on this, I just know it ?)
  7. I'm sorry for your loss, Tom ?. I need to see if any decals are available for the Norwood Motors cars. My Fords need some Chevys to beat ?
  8. Thats some NICE-A55 Fawrds ya gut dere, Boss. I've been looking for a '62 but they ain't cheap. My guess is your '62 has a '60 on the bottom? It gets pretty 'spensive ?. I'm gonna do the T-bolt and one of Tasca's A/FX cars, a Mustang. That's it for me on this subject. I can't do this to another Starliner kit ? (but I've gotta get another one; it's a great kit ?). By the way, Tom, the BAM SAM decal looks easy if you have an ap that can manipulate graphics. Nice big letters, print it on clear paper, piece of cake. The other one, not so much but maybe a close font; the letters are kinda small, too.
  9. I use an old CD label program that still runs on my ancient Windows XP machine to make decals when necessary. This one turned out well enough ? Yup. My Dad knew what it meant. He was fluent, my grandparents were French Candian. We got a laugh out of it. I believe the intent was a message to the driver in the other lane. ?
  10. Last September I attended a small contest/swap meet in Norfolk and I believe it's an annual event. Watch for the announcement here, starting in August.
  11. There's a video of one of these Gals under power. Awesome. Too bad mines made out of plastic ?. I got the last decal on a few minutes ago. I can't find a photo of the actual slogan on this particular car but it satisfies my need to immortalize my memory of it. It appears on more than one of Tasca's cars. It may not have looked exactly like what I have here but it serves well enough. I'm sure it was the subject of more than a few conversations in the pits.
  12. I've got my kit sitting on the floor next to my recliner. You have inspired me to start it. Time to look it over again.......and go over your thread.....thanks, Steve!
  13. Thank ya, DW. Still some issues to clean up but just boring stuff. Not totally happy with decals. The maker goofed on the C-pillar decals with spelling and didn't print the lower cowl lettering. I would not expect the deck lid words due to the limited photos of this car. If I had not seen them with my own two eyes, I wouldn't know either. Those I will make myself.
  14. Got the decals on 'er tonight. Take a peek ?
  15. Those wheels / tires look fantastic, Steve. The body decals aren't the easiest to deal with and they look great too. It's going great! A bit OCD on the valve stems though ?. Just kidding, I wish I could get that detailed ?.
  16. Bodywork is the best part, the best for me at least. To get it this good, I guess it's high on your list of faves. Nice work, Dave, keep 'er comin'. Incidently, the Futura looks good as a two-tone. ?
  17. Oh boy....love the '70. This should be fun ?. Following!
  18. The '63 kit came from Hobbylinc.com. I imagine it's the latest version. It's a pretty decent decal sheet. I'll get a picture up. Well, I said "bounced"; it actually did land on the floor after a first my pass at my naked, unprotected lower thigh first but the use of "bounced" was, I admit, a slight exaggeration. It stabbed me but only penetrated less than a millimeter. A one band-aid injury. My hands faired a little worse during that foiling episode with a thumb losing a small flap of much-needed surface. All normal stuff. I expect it and I am prepared for it ?.
  19. Exciting? Oh yes, especially when I dropped my knife and it bounced off my right thigh, point first ?. Lotsa foil on this one, Rick. Band-aid city. Got the glass in and installed the "instrument panel". The kit provides the decals for the dash but the Best Model Parts prints are way better. The rear "grille" trim has a badge in the middle and a decal is provided but how do you make that work? ?...more later.
  20. The big problem with the Tasca car is a lack of specific information on it. There are a few liberties I had to take and some things I knew about but didn't do (cheater slicks). Basically, it's a generic '63 production lightweight. There is a book on Tasca's racing endeavors but I don't want to spend the money ?. I just wanted to build an adequate representation of a somewhat famous drag racer from my home town, back in the day. Thanks for your interest, John, I appreciate it. I usually don't bother with "under glass" but it will be here when done.
  21. Thanks, Tim, I shall ? It's the only way to get what you want....BASH IT ! ? You and me both, DW. I thought I was done but I forgot to foil the backlight trim. I'm getting there. I have Molotow on the handles and vent posts that needs some time but it'll get there soon enough. Decals on the weekend maybe. This is the point where bad things can happen so I've got to take it slow now. Thanks to all for watching this one.
  22. Got it all shined up and almost completely foiled today. Yay! Got the firewall painted too. Yay again! ? thanks for looking ?
  23. After seeing those photos of the finished models above and despite the issues you are having to contend with, I am now trying to find one of these kits at a reasonable price. The unique nature of the subject is calling to me and( thanks a lot Dave ? ) now I've gotta have one. I wonder how a conventional roof would look on one of these. A "breezeway" style or the roof off of a Starliner maybe? Oh no...it's happening again....?
  24. The guy who built the one in the Leno video, I believe, is the same guy who built the Norwood Motors car in my post above.
  25. It was my first time with MCW lacquer. Twas like a Sunkist Navel. My choices were sand/polish(preferred) or use half a bottle of clear on top and then sand/polish anyway. Happily, there were only one or two places that were too thin. I hit primer where it won't be easily noticed so...it'll look just fine on the shelf. The level of gloss is in keeping with a factory solid color job on a 1:1. I don't insist on perfection ?. It's reflective enough for my purpose. The dumps? Yeah? I had to do it. I couldn't find much on this particular car so I am guessing if they used dumps like this and where they might put them (this is what I would do ?). They look home-made with sloppy welding and a coat of Devcon Z....not that I planned it that way. Thanks for your interest, DW!
