Thanks John! I did sign up for membership and went to a couple of meetings, but haven't been to one in about a year. It's tough to get out during the week with the hours I'm working.

Thanks! I'm liking that I decided to do this one a little different than the SS version, it's definitely keeping the build interesting having a little room to do whatever I want. The hood was a little bit of a pain. Every time I stripped paint off of it, it caused the putty to weaken so I was ending up with a noticeable line showing. This weekend I'll get that all straightened out and get some paint and stripes on it. Thank you!

Donn thanks for the tip, very much appreciated!

Wow that's a great looking impala. Awesome build. -
Thanks for the kind words guys. Sorry to hear about the issues with your engine kit. I should have some updates today on the interior.
-
A few quick shots of the polished body with foil and some badging decals.
-
Thanks. Yes the pulleys came with the engine.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Paint is all auto air colors, bright blue candy over aluminum. The stripes were done in a base of metallic white. The clear coat is testors gloss lacquer with a little bit of pearl ex mixed in. The body was wet sanded and polished, and is in the process of being foiled. I'll have more pics up later today.
-
Finally got around to repainting this one. Clear coat went on ok but it did have a little texture to it so there's gonna be some wet sanding involved. Hopefully I don't burn through paint on any spots, which I always manage to do lol.
-
Well.....everything was going smooth with the clear coat until a nice blob of silver paint got spit onto the side of the body, back to the pond with this one...again. Tomorrow is another day
-
Thanks Charlie. Quick shot I the body with some candy on it, I'm starting to like these auto air paints. I was able to get two separate base colors down, and then a candy color all within one hour. All I had to do was use a heat gun in between coats. I should have the body clear coated shortly.
-
Thanks dragzz. It's auto air from createx, it's water based. It was airbrushed on but I haven't clear coated yet, still have to hit it with some blue candy. It's hard to see in the picture but some careful masking gave me some pretty decent chevy sport stripes. This is aluminum base over the metallic white. Should get a pretty cool effect with the candy over both colors.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. The engine is available from VCG resins. Manny had some great stuff I would definitely recommend ordering from him. I got some color on the body. I'm going to attempt putting some stripes on the car. I know the 66 didn't have them but I always liked the look. The base coat is metallic white. Thanks for looking.

Engine is pretty much done and wired. I have to figure out a different way to mount the power steering pump if I decide to put it on, the pulleys didn't line up the first time I did it. Hopefully I can get some paint on the frame and suspension parts today. The new kit should be here soon, I'm not going to attempt the opening doors and truck right now. Maybe on a future build I will. Thanks for looking.

Ok I got a little bit further on the engine, added the transmission, brackets for the alternator and power steering pump, and the exhaust manifolds but one fell off. By tomorrow I should have belts on the pulleys and a distributor added. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I used detail master #1 fittings, although it looks to me like on the left side of the hard line a #2 compression fitting snuck in there. I'm goin to have to do a little bit of cutting on the chassis to get the engine to fit. I really wanted to make a set of headers for this project but there's just not enough room, so I just used the kit exhaust manifolds. Should have another update later tonight.
-
Just a small update. Detailed the carb a little bit and added some fuel fittings, opening doors and trunk just aren't working out for me so I have a new kit on the way. In the mean time Ill finish the engine and move on to the frame.
-
Those look great! Nice builds. What did you use for paint on them? I have both decal sets but never got around to starting them.
-
Thanks for the kind words guys. Teddy thank you, as far as the decals go I have a set of decals from Keith Marks for a 66 Malibu so I'm not going to bother with the kit decals. Tom, I'm going to give the door jambs and trunk lip one more try. I'm debating just getting another kit cuz I wasn't all that happy with the gaps the cut out panels left, the seams just don't look right to me. I liked the idea of functional doors but I think it's just a little out of the scope of my skills to do and get it to look right. Right now I'm going to concentrate on the engine an then move back to getting the body squared away.

Ok got a little bit of work done on the engine. This is the 572 from vcg resin. Great product, very little clean up needed, and it comes with some aluminum pulleys, oil filter, and starter. The breathers are from model car garage. Hopefully I can get a little further on it tody.
-
Thanks tom, the trunk is ok without the lip but the door jambs and the inner door are something that I overlooked before I painted. I think I may have bitten off a little more than I could chew on this one lol.
-
Thank you for the kid words guys. After some debating I decided to purple pond this one, I just wasn't happy with the way the paint came out, I think I shot it too thick through the airbrush. On a brighter note, I did get this in the mail today for this build Gonna start cleaning and prepping this for paint.
-
Got some color on this one tonight. It's candy blue from auto air. I decided I would give the water based paints a try being that I'm spraying indoors in a small apartment. Hopefully the trial run goes as planned lol. Thanks for looking.
-
Got some primer on to see if there were any more trouble spots, it looks pretty good, some very faint lines but those will be taken care of.

Here's where I'm at so far with the hood. It was a pretty good fit, some more sanding and a little filler should do the trick.
