  1. I appreciate all the info guys, today I stopped and grabbed some testors candy apple red and some gold for a base so ill see what happens. Ill get some pics up as soon as I can. Thanks again
  2. It doesn't have to be but I get a little bit more consistent results with the enamels through the airbrush, that does look like a pretty close match though.
  3. Thanks for the info guys, I may have to look into the testors candy red and maybe just decant it for the airbrush. The metallic red does look really close but in the pictures of the 1:1 you can see the gold base coming through the red so I think candy red is definitely the way to go. I really wanna nail the color down, I want this build to be as accurate as possible to the real thing. Thanks again ?
  4. I'm going to be starting a dick harrell camaro and I'm trying to find a color match with testors enamel, the 1:1 color is candy apple red. Stop light red metallic looks pretty close but not exact. I'm not sure what to mix with it to get I the right shade. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance, here's a pic of the actual car.
  5. Thank you all for the comments ! From now on all my pictures of finished stuff is gonna be taken outside cuz the lighting in my apartment makes everything look kinda yellow.
  6. Thank you guys very much. The paint on the merc was done with all clear coat from testors mixed with pearl ex.
  7. These are builds that have been posted already but yesterday I took them outside and snapped a few pictures of each while they were in the sun so I figured I'd share. To me the pictures look alot better than the old ones plus you can pick up the pearl better with the good light. Enjoy
  8. Thanks for all the compliments guys they're very much appreciated. Should have this one done within a week. Thanks again
  9. Ok got the exhaust on, installed the motor and added a little more chalk for some weathering underneath.
  10. Couple shots of the almost completed motor. Just have to add the coil, paint the transmission, and put the oil pan and fan on. Thanks for looking
  11. Thanks for the compliments! Should have se pics of the finished motor up soon
  12. No but the glass will pop right out without a problem if I need to trim it.
  13. Finally got the frame masked off and painted black and added some of the suspension parts with home made springs. Added a little bit of chalk for a slightly weathered look too. I used the stock tires and wheels, painted them the body color and a little bit of dull coat to knock the shine down. Also a quick picture of a mock up with the body, thanks for looking
  14. Yea I thought about acetate but when it gets creased it turns white and I want to avoid glue seems
  15. My next project is going to be the 69 dick harrell pro stock camaro. Does anyone know where I can get the clear plexi glass piece for the hood? Does anyone know of an aftermarket supplier that has it?
  16. Just got the interior complete here are a few pics
  17. No problem Monty anytime thanks for the compliment this was shot over testors aluminum metalizer I'm pretty sure (sorry I painted this awhile ago) if you don't have donn yosts DVD yet definitely pick it up. I've been using his method of painting and it's been giving me great results.
  18. This is grape pearl with blue pearl ex in the clear. The pearl ex changed the color but not much.
  19. Sure ill post as soon as I get home today. Don't have any pictures of that build on my phone.
  20. This is the set from detail master. Be prepared to pull out your hair lol.
  21. I've used it, the color is nice but I didn't get good results from the rattle can. I decanted it and added a little lacquer thinner and shot it through the airbrush and it turned out way better
  22. I really would recommend spending a little extra money and getting a quality airbrush to begin with. Buying cheap will only wind up costing you more money in the long run. I have a paasche single action and live it. It does exactly what I need it to do an it wasn't all that expensive, I think I paid 130 bucks for the airbrush with the compressor.
  23. Got a little further on the engine. Started working on the linkage and also started running the fuel lines. Questions and comments welcome, thanks for looking
  24. Ok cool. Thanks so much for the info, I'm not all that knowledgeable when it comes to the specifics of how the stuff actually works so your reply is very much appreciated. Once I get some lines run ill post another pic. Thanks again
