Thanks guys. I used the bigger springs that came with the kit to give it a little bit of a rake. Here is a picture of the actual car that I tried to mimic with the model. The only things I didn't do like the photo were the chrome rocker panels and the chrome piece around the gas cap.

Just finished this today. It's the 64 impala lowrider kit from revell. Done box stock except a few keith marks decals and rally wheels from the revell 67 chevelle kit. The paint is classic black enamel from testors polished with no clear. The only thing I really didn't like about this kit were the tail lights which seemed to be all different sizes. Other than that, pretty cool kit. Thanks for looking and enjoy!

Awesome build! I did the same one for my girl lol. She picked the same bumpers and grill but a lighter purple and black pin stripes. Great job man!

I was 5 or 6 when I got my first model and it was the 56 bel air from monogram. I built probably up till I was 15 but just kinda slapped them together as quick as possible, not really caring about paint jobs, I was just happy getting some color on the car, couldn't care less about mold lines or seems lol. Last year I had some time to kill because of a knee injury and being out of work so I was clicking around online and saw the preview for the donn yost DVD. I never knew models could look that good lol. After that I've been hooked. Got some new tools, paint, and supplies and been trying to actually build a scale model of a car and not just throw a kit together as fast as possible. I'm definitely glad I found the hobby again

This is my 49 merc I just finished. Kinda dropped the ball on the work in progress and didn't keep up with the posting of progress. This build is completely box stock and the paint is testor's clear mixed with pearl ex. Enjoy and thanks for looking!

Wow those are some beautiful paint jobs. The pearl ex is an awesome product I love it.

I came across these on the testors website. Its clear blue and clear purple flip flop. I was just wondering if anyone has used these yet and if they did what kind of results they had.

This is my first work in progress on this forum so here we go. This is the 49 merc from revell. This build will be plain box stock because I'm trying to concentrate on painting and prepping better. So far the body has been painted. I got some pearl ex in the mail last week and was just dying to use it lol. The base coat was a mix of flamingo pink and lavender pearl ex, wet sanded and polished, and then shot with true blue pearl ex. All of it was mixed into testors clear top coat. Whoops didn't see modern in front of the word hemi lol.

Both the 68 charger and dart from revell come with a 440 and a hemi. Two complete engines in both kits.

No my color coats are going on perfectly. It seems it only happens with clear coat. But I will definitely try what you said and spray a little closer to the body. Thanks for the input.

The purple stuff works great for me. It's available at ace hardware although I don't remember the exact name of the product. Strips paint completely in hours. Just wear gloves it will irritate your skin.
