  1. I like the enamel clear from testors out of the jar thinned and shot through an airbrush. If its enamel paint use enamel clear. In this case I wouldn't even clear coat because it's a non metallic/pearl paint. Just polish it up and it should shine up nice. As far as spray cans Ive tried the testors laquer clear with a decent result but it was only once so I'm no expert. Hope this helps.
  2. I'm not sure it seems to happen all times throughout the year. Thanks for the tips though guys very much appreciated.
  3. Great job! It's been years since I built a mustang kit. I just may have to go pick one up now.
  4. Nice job looks great! My next 2 or 3 builds are gonna be completely box stock as well. Just to concentrate on the quality of the build first and not worry about adding all the aftermarket stuff.
  5. I haven't had any luck finding shabo markings. Slixx makes a pretty good tire sheet. Just coat the tire with dull coat after the decal goes on and your in business.
  6. Yea I've done that too. This seems to me like it's drying but it only builds up on the edges of the model and the tip of the airbrush.
  7. I've used the hok stuff too over dupli color primer and had good results. The first time however I completely destroyed the plastic by putting too much paint on. Just mist your coats on and let them flash before spraying another. I usually wait about 15 minutes between coats. It's time consuming so I've gone back to enamels.
  8. I recently came back to it too about a year ago and I'm glad I did. It definitely is a stress reliever. The only thing I did wrong was trying to take on too much at once wih aftermarket stuff. A lot of mistakes made and money spent lol. But that's how you learn. Just take it slow at first and it will be very rewarding.
  9. Has anyone ever gotten a frosting effect while clear coating with an airbrush? It looks like a fine powder that builds up on the edges of windows and such. It's happened both with laquer and enamels for me. Anything I can do to correct this?
  10. Awesome vid! Now I'm even more pumped to use them lol. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some clear on some cars. Thanks guys!
  11. Got some pearl ex powders in the mail today and I'm pretty excited about using them I've seen some pics of some paint jobs with them and they look great. I was just wondering how much of it to add to the clear. The clear is testors enamel, and it will be two jars with one jar of thinner added.
  12. Thanks Dan I'm gonna have to check that out. Yea it always sucks when you screw up a paint job lol. Believe me I've messed up quite a few but oh well what can you do it happens.
  13. Wow that's a beautiful build right there. Super clean and super detailed. I wish my stuff could come out looking like that one day lol. Very nice!
  14. Thanks guys I agree I would also like to a stock version. I didn't like the interior that came with the kit At all.
  15. The color coat came out glass smooth with no sanding. Sorry I should have worded my last post differently. It was really hot out when I clear coated. By the way I got all three of your DVDs last fall. Best purchase I ever made I learned a lot from them. Thanks again
  16. Thank you guys for the input very much appreciated! Donn now that I think about it the humidity probably had something to do with it, it was pretty hot yesterday when I painted. I'm sure wet sanding will take it out it's not all that bad. I'll get a few pics up soon. Thanks again guys.
  17. I've never tried future I'll have to check it out. How does it spray on? Is it thin? The problem that I'm having is that I'm not getting enough clear down to get rid of the orange peel but at the same time if I keep coating I'm going to lose my panel lines. Maybe thinning it more would help?
  18. Ok quick question. I shot a body with enamel clear yesterday and there is some orange peel, but it seems like if I sprayed any more on I would have started to lose my panel lines. Everything was set and prepped like it is on donns DVD. I was just wondering if there's something I can do to avoid this, it seems to happen every time I clear coat
  19. Thanks guys I will definitely look into it
  20. Amazing build! I love the pics in the magazine too I must have read it a dozen time. Great stuff
  21. Does anyone know of any shows on Long Island? I can't seem to find any information anywhere.
  22. Great build, Love the colors!
  23. Thanks for the compliments guys! Good to be here.
  24. Yeah it worked out good. I actually finished the build about 20 minuted before he got here lol. And he was happy it had a hood this time lol.
  25. Great stuff! I got donns dvd's this past fall and they are awesome. My last few builds were HOK paint but I think I"m gonna go back to enamels for the next few after watching the paint dvd last night lol.
