Thanks for the kind compliments guys, very much appreciated! The kit did come with the mirror, although I'm having a hard time finding it. As far as the color I'm pretty sure it's a mix of Pontiac engine blue mixed with something a little darker, I painted the body last march so it's tough to remember. I'll get some outdoor shots today, I noticed some of my pictures are pretty blurry.

Lol didn't even realize I left it off. Gonna have to put it on.

First time posting on here in a while, finally got this one finished tonight. 62 bel air kit from amt, painted with testors enamel. Enjoy thanks for looking!

Thanks Russ! Sorry I haven't been on in awhile to reply. I used the Devon epoxy for the gauges, the two part stuff in the small tubes. Thanks again for the kind compliments. Gonna get back to building shortly I've been on a break the past few months.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Ill look into adding those lines, right now I'm working on the throttle linkage but it's giving me problems so I may do those lines instead for the time being. As far as this kit being available for purchase its the revell yenko kit with some aftermarket parts and decals.

Thanks got a little bit further, all four lines to the carbs are in and one just has to be painted. Here's a pic of the 1:1 car that I used for reference. I came pretty close so far but couldn't get it exact. Thanks for looking.

Got a couple of the fuel lines run, only have the two done so far so got a ways to go. These were very tedious and there were a couple times when the build almost went back in the box lol. Hopefully I can get the rest of the lines done without breaking something lol.

Wow that's some great work. I never thought of using guitar string for trim on seats that's a really cool idea. Nice job!

Just a small update, started detailing up my carbs a little bit and got the block and manifold painted with some metalizer.
-
I just got this in the mail today from competition resins. It's the tunnel ram manifold. It is a little big for the engine that came with the kit so I may have to do a little sanding. The head rests on the seats were cut off and sanded out also. Should have some more pics up soon thanks for looking

PE set for 1964 Chevy Impala
Bluemiles22 replied to PowerPlant's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I can't say about the impala but I've used the mcg 69 nova set on the revell 69 nova and some parts didn't fit like the grill and steering wheel, and both kits are 1/25 scale. Badges and scripts were close enough but the pe parts were slightly bigger. -
Try using a dehydrator for enamels. If you cut the paint with lacquer thinner, you can color coat, wet sand, and then clear coat within a 24 hour period, maybe even less with the dehydrator. Also stick to whatever system your comfortable with that gives you the best results. I personally prefer the enamels for color and testors gloss laquer in the bottle for clear coat. I've tried tamiya spray cans and a couple of projects with hok but didn't get the results I wanted because I wasn't familiar with the product. There's a learning curve for everything so stay with whatever gives you the most consistent results.

Questions about mixing paint: Testors and MM?
Bluemiles22 replied to clovis's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You can get 2 or 3oz glass jars with lids and gaskets from hobbylinc.com. I personally like the 3oz jars over the 2oz. To decant paint I just hold the jar at an angle and hold the spray nozzle down and spray right into the jar. It causes a little over spray so make sure your outside and don't forget to wear gloves. If your mixing colors start with your white, and add a couple drops at a time of your dark blue. I'm pretty sure that testors makes that color already so you may want to look into that. -
Yes, and every day after work is happy hour lol

The pictures I've found are of the restored car with the tube frame front end. The decals I know are of the original version ( the hood stripes are different and the boarder around the lace patern is a little different ) I couldn't find many shots of the original so all of the interior, frame , and engine work is gonna be based off the photos of the newer version. Yes it's the revell yenko kit.

Lol yea that's my light fixture for my fish tank, when it's on my apartment is lit like a night club lol.
-
Yea the door handles were easy to take off with a sharp exacto blade and a little micro sol helped them snug down, the moldings woulda been simple but I think I got a little over excited an it got over looked lol.
-
Thanks guys, the decals were a nightmare, I don't know if they were old or dried out or what but they were extremely brittle. Some spots just kinda flaked off as I was putting them on but it's not all that noticeable. One thing I did realize was that I left the rocker panel moldings on which should have been removed, kinda late in the game now to take care of that lol. Will get more pics up soon thanks for looking ?

Here's one more of one side completed

Was able to get a few decals on today. A little bit of a nightmare, especially the one on the front end but so far not all that bad. Also I think the door handles are gonna be a problem so I either have to cut a hole in the decal or shave the handle off without ruining the paint job.
-
Thanks! The decals are gonna be from slixx. Today is gonna be some meticulous wet sanding, the candy came out very grainy so there's alot of work to do and at the same time I have to avoid making light spots. After that is clear coat, polish, and hopefully by tonight I could get some decals on the car and post more pics.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I got a few more coats on and I think it's a pretty close match. Just have to do a little wet sanding and then clear coat.
-
Just got this one started yesterday, cut the opening in the good, hit it with metalizer, coat of gold paint, and then the candy red. I'm not sure if I'm happy with the color it looks a bit too light. Comments are welcome.
