Got hold of a mpc Ford EXP Finally!
MsDano85gt replied to MsDano85gt's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm certainly aware of that Tom probly idenical except for the front facia and some other minor parts one engine may be turbo vs. the other being non turbo, it was alot of the same like you said with other kits of the era i have many of the foxbodys they all share parts, the mini mopar dodge daytona chargers are all similar some years had different parts its all fun tho i'd like to build one of each version thats what its all about!! -
Hello all, I love mpc kits the 80's seemed to have been a good time for the manufacturers at mpc, There were all sorts of cars and trucks being pumped out, dodge trucks of all years throughout the 70's mini mopars omni's daytona chargers, very cool stuff indeed all foxbody mustangs lots of very cool stuff I have for probly 2 years been trying to get a ford EXP there is always a 1/32 scale one for sale usually on the flea bay, when the EXP 1/25 scale ones show up i always get out bid!! they get way out of hand!! think i'm going to heed Evil benny's advice/ suggestion place my "yamaha" powered v6 sho taurus motor in the exp.... I finally got the yellow kit for a fair price will post pics when it arrives because yes i am going to open up the sealed kit i'm also trying to get a blue one sealed... see how that goes..... heres the next one i'm after..... wish me luck!

Chemical Reactions Between Parts
MsDano85gt replied to Miatatom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have had that happen before on some older mpc model kits want to say theres some chemical within the rubbers from the tires that has a reaction to regular plastic parts..... that is perhaps why nowadays they usually have tires seperated in their own plastic bags in the kit boxes..... i may be wrong tho or therer might be technical jargin for this epedemic but you are not alone in this matter -
the mercury capri would that not be the correct shape for the body of the euro ford rs?? shape seems pretty close
-
hey Erik how much was your dehydrator?? where did you get it? it obviously works great! Bartster gave me some pointers about baking model car bodies in the oven to "gass" out the paint but if not careful that can lead to disaster! lol
-
wowo where does one get that kit?? i wish the stateside escorts looked like that they look so close to a "baby" smaller 85 gt mustang kinda basically were for the most part?? that would complete my escort stash..... to buildup
-
i open my "rare " stuff had to hide 3 of those older mpc foxbody mustang kits from myself that are factory sealed so i won't open them!! one is a annivarsary mustang!!

Acura NSX (Snap tite) 2/23 Freshly polished! ALMOST DONE.
MsDano85gt replied to Kennyboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
pretty neat! what brand kit is that? that engine looks super detailed for being a "snap kit" -
i don't know of a "white version" just the black molded (easier to find) and the older version of silver molded has sunken in headlamps vs black kit has the flush "compound" lamps both kit versions can be built with the headlamps either way ( the little plastic lenses are inserts to the chrome housing) its funny the recaro seats and the little clear plastic headlamp pcs can be founf in the reissued 87-88 gt mustangs by amt/mpc. i had always wondered what those clear lenses were for untill i got one of the old svo kits on the 87-88 you can very carefully remove the "cheesegrater" molded in taillamps and use the clear "lx" / gt style clear tail lamp buckets insted! was it their early attempt to be able to customize a gt 5.0 to a base model 5.0 lx?? Eric great shiney build!! my paint never turns out so nice..... I would reccomend on the seat head rests to carefully remove the "mesh" from the headrests...... or paint the mesh black don't think svo's came with halo seats think they had "lx" style short headrests ?? otherwise spot on b uild!! you have motivated me to get something done!!

2012-2014 COPO Camaro?
MsDano85gt replied to camarobuilder's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i like what ford did with the mustang forgot what year they did it and if they still do it or not?? beleive it was with the new 5.0 and the "boss" version?? it was called "track pack" you buy your new 5.0 mustang with 2 seperate ecus? or 2 completely seperate permamant programs in the ecu and the car has 2 different keys keyed up accordingly to how you want to drive...... the regular key is for normal driving the "track" key changes the ecu to change redlines/ shift points/ revs, / engine timing etc etc thats how i would do it!! but i think thos e copos may be the same way? but they are sold a s "race" only but if one has all th e money to do so i think you can get upto 3 engines all tuned differently and the ecm dialed to each of the motors and you can swap em back and fourth? think i read that in hot rod magazine?? -
thats the best quote of the movie!! love the car and the movie! sold my movie posters on evil bay
