Brian_R replied to tubbs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My top four colors are: Blue 92 Red 63 Green 39 White 24 Then it starts trailing off to the two tones and others. I guess I really like shades of blue. Brian -
UPDATE: Chrysler told Yahoo Autos this afternoon that while it did not have any records of crashes involving Vipers donated to trade schools, the cars involved did not have historical significance. It also said it regularly expected vehicles donated to schools to be destroyed once they had lost their educational value, which the cars in question had given their age. The full statement: "Approximately 10 years ago, Chrysler Group donated a number of Dodge Viper vehicles to various trade schools for educational purposes. As part of the donation process, it is standard procedure — and stipulated in our agreements — that whenever vehicles are donated to institutions for education purposes that they are to be destroyed when they are no longer needed for their intended educational purposes. With advancements in automotive technology over the past decade, it is unlikely that these vehicles offer any educational value to students. Chrysler Group fully understands and appreciates the historical significance of the Viper and is very active in preserving many of its legendary models and designs for historic purposes however, none of these vehicles fit into this category. Chrysler Group has no record of any legal proceedings involving Dodge Viper vehicles donated to educational institutions being involved in accidents and product liability lawsuits."

seems like I use a lot of #11 blades on BMF...
Brian_R replied to bigmikevee's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Crazyjim I agree, one blade lasts a very long time. I keep a special blade just for bare metal and sharpen it before each use. I used to have a flat ceramic and stone sharpener but the ceramic rods in the holder are so easy to use I don’t even get the flat stone out any more. Brian -

Try the sharpener from Harbor Freight. Five bucks saves a lot of blades. http://www.harborfreight.com/handheld-knife-sharpener-94620.html Brian -

I built this replica a few years back. The outside looks close but the model has the Ford interior - close enough! Brian -

Grand National Roadster Show Model contest?
Brian_R replied to Art Laski's topic in Contests and Shows
Yes, Rusty posted this on the Kitbasher board today about the contest: Things are pretty much the same. The only real difference is that there is no longer a modified die-cast class, it has been replaced with large scale class. Other than that, still going to be there all three days. Entries will be accepted all day Friday and Saturday, and Sunday until 12:00 noon. Those who enter on Friday or Saturday will receive a free admission for Sunday. Parking fees are not included. I can use another volunteer or two at this point. As it sits, there may be openings all three days. PM me if interested. I have not heard from Darryl either. It is difficult, after all, for him to get good info for the models when the entrants are not always near by. But of course he is welcome as always. As far as I am aware right now, we will still be in building #5. Hope to see you all out there. Thanks -

Davin, When you're done, we can meet on the salt and see how they run. This was the AMT kit also, that front needs a lot of work. Brian -
