    Audi R8

Absolutely love these cars and you have done a great job on yours. I personally do like the 'blades' behind the doors to be a different colour but full credit to you on yours and I do agree that the colour is beautiful. I have the R8 and the R8 spyder to build, I may be temped to start mine now!!
  3. Very nice clean build and certainly different. Do the occupants wear parachutes in case of emergencies??? LOL!!!
  4. After a request from a fellow member( thanks Damian, damop6v8) asking if I had any more t.v or movie cars, I had to respond with this particular model of mine. Some of you may not be familiar with the british t.v.drama called Ashes to Ashes which was a follow up to the equally popular Life on Mars but without boring you all with the history of the programme, without a doubt one of the main stars was the bright red Audi Quattro that was driven by Gene Hunt whose character was played by Philip Glenister. His favourite catchphrase was to "Fire up the Quattro", hence this is the name I have placed on the base of the model. As the series is supposed to be set in 1980's London, I used an AMT streetscenes base and laid sandpaper on the base and painted it black and grey and weathered it to look like tarmac; the pavement was painted in Tamiya Buff XF57 and the wall was actually 1/24 scale brick paper for dolls houses. The pop posters were printed off the net and the street nameplate was scratcbuilt from plastic card and tubing. The car itself is the old Tamiya Audi Quattro which has been painted in actual Audi bright red spray paint bought from Halfords and relevant registration number plates were made using rub down lettering. The only drawback with the model in my opinion was the fact that the model was only offered in left hand drive whereas the t.v car was in right hand drive and I did'nt fancy cutting and filling the dashboard as these are quite rare kits to get a hold off if it had all gone wrong. I was pleased overall with the resullt that I had achieved and please feel free to add your own comments and thanks very much for looking.
  5. Beautiful looking little rig there Dan, the colours are really sharp. Well done.
  6. Looking good so far Matt, this is going to be different. I shall be watching this one with interest.
  7. Many thanks for all your kind words guys, I will try to answer a few of your questions. Rich S, believe it or not , the camera that I am using for all my pics is the one on my mobile phone that for reference is a Samsung I 5801 touchscreen. I have tried using my digital camera but I get a much better picture on my mobile!! rmvw guy, I have got numerous books on Routemaster buses which came in very useful for detail painting on the model. lapazleo, yes this kit is very much worth the price as like I said earlier on in the thread, you certainly get a lot of plastic for your money. Johnny, I am highly honoured if your wife mistook my model for the real thing!! Thanks for that. Truckabilly, the paint that I used was from a car parts store that we have here in the UK called Halfords and the actual shade is Nissan red from an aerosol can. Hopefully I have answered some of your questions correctly and many thanks again for all your interest.
  8. I like your Mustang a lot!! Very clean and nicely built, well done
  9. Thanks for all your messages guys, glad that you like Mr Bonds 2cv!!
  10. Beautiful model built by a very talented young lady. You should be extremely proud of her. Very well done and lets hope to see many more.
  11. I remember when these first hit the shelves here in the UK, I bought one and was disapointed to see how basic it was, then they released a rally . version and I bought that one as well. I no longer have either of them but wish that I had still kept the rally car version as I have never seen another one. We live and learn by our mistakes.....!!
  12. This is the Tamiya Citroen 2cv that I built to replicate the one that was used in the James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only". The car was painted in Tamiya yellow spray and weathered down using Tamiya weathering pastels. Before all this, the car was suitably distressed using a hot spoon to melt and distort the plastic to replicate the damage that was seen on the real car in the film. Thankfully , I had the film on DVD so I was able to pause the film to get the detail that I wanted such as the pattern of the bullet holes on the rear deck and the damage of the plastic grille on the bonnet. The one rear light was scratchbuilt and the fold back canvas roof was made from a bit of scrap cloth and painted to suit. The rear window was removed and matt varnish was painted inside the rear of the car and granulated sugar was sprinkled inside to give the impression of broken glass. All I had to make then was a set of license plates and mount the car on a simple base and it was finished.I was fortunate enough to win a first in a miscelaneous class at its first outing so please enjoy and any comments are welcome. Thanks for looking.
  13. Really nice work on your Trans am, the red certainly makes a change from black. Good work and well done.
  14. Nice build on your BMW ,I especially like the colour and the stance does'nt look that bad in my opinion.I really would'nt worry about it being a left hooker, we occasionally get left hand drive BMW's in the UK from time to time, just say that it is from the continent and that its been reregistered!!
  15. Hey Judgeman, I have just read through your thread with great interest and I too love your Trans-am. I remember the film from years ago and remember the scene where the car gets destroyed between the 2 trucks, what a great shame to see that. I also remember the imfamous beach chase scene with the barrel-rolling Impala. I also vaguely remember there was a Cadillac in that chase scene too but I stand to be corrected if I am wrong. Don't know if you are familiar with another John Wayne film from the 70's that was set in London that was called Brannigan, that had a great chase scene in it between a Jaguar and a Ford Capri. Also towards the end of the film, a Jaguar E type coupe comes to grief on the banks of the River Thames; yet another classic car destroyed for the film world. Sorry to have rambled on but its great to see some of the more obscure and lesser well known movie cars and yours is one I would definately have in my collection.
  16. Hey guys, thanks for your comments. hgbben, if you are reffering to the price of the kit as to what did it go for, here in the UK , the retail price varies from between £36-£40, which considering how much plastic you get for your money is a very good deal indeed. george53, you are saying that the Routemaster would make for a good race car hauler, then here are a few dimensions for you to ponder over. The finished model measures up at 14" long, 4" wide and 7" tall. These are approximate dimensions but nevertheless this thing takes up a lot of shelf space!!
  17. This is my latest build folks and not wanting to blow my own trumpet I think that this might be the first one posted on this forum. Any questions or comments are welcome so please enjoy and thanks for looking.
  18. Hello there Dennis my name is Mark and I too am new to this forum. Firstly I would like to say that I am blown away by your lego trucks, I myself had lego as a kid and would never had thought that such works of art could be achieved with what are essentialy plastic bricks. When I first saw your thread, I thought you were a guy who I had read about in a magazine that I subscribe to here in the UK called Truck Model World who is from Italy and he has built some european trucks from lego such as Volvo's and Scania's. I do not know if you are familiar with this magazine and they do have there own website forum so it may well be worth checking them out. Once again, stunning builds and well done.
  19. Thanks guys for all your comments, as usual, very much appreciated. Martinfan5, the wheels and tyres are actually taken from the Hobby Heaven 1970 Ford but I still used the hubcaps from the Monaco as they were an exact fit.
  20. A really good build, I have always liked this particular Camaro. Considering that it was a snap kit, you have made it into something special. Well done.
  21. Due to all the great comments regarding my posting of the Pontiac Ventura that I built, I thought that I would share another model of mine with you. Built from the old Dukes of Hazzard Rosco police car, I decided to build a military police car as was very often chasing the A team nearly every episode. Although I don't ever recall Monaco's being used as M.P cars in the show, I think you'll agree that it does look the part. The paint is Tamiya Olive drab from a spray can and the decals were from an old Willys jeep. As usual, all comments are welcome and thanks for looking.
  22. For fear of repeating myself, I genuinely am humbled by all of your comments. I shall certainly be posting up more builds for you to see in the very near future so watch this space!!
  23. Thanks very much guys for all the positive comments and the kind words, they are all very much appreciated. I have been posting on another forum site which is where some of you may have seen my builds before. I do have plenty more to share with you all but I will post as and when I can; I don't want to bore you all with too much ,too soon. Thanks again for all your comments.
  24. Hi there folks, my name is Mark and I am all new to this forum. I have been dropping by from time to time but have now decided to join you all and show you some of my stuff. I thought I would start the ball rolling with one of my recent builds, my Pontiac Ventura. This was offered to me by a friend who had acquired it by a kit collection he had bought but he couldnt sell it on because it had missing parts so he offered it to me for spares. It turns out that the missing parts were a set of tyres which I had plenty of in my spares box so I set about putting it together. Being an old MPC kit, it did fight me a little bit but I was quite pleased with the end result. The paint is Tamiya TS 60 pearl green metallic which is a very close colour to another Ventura that I found pictures of whilst looking for reference material. Hopefully these pictures are ok and all questions and comments are welcome.
