    Buick GNX

Hi folks, this is model no.6 for me so far this year, my 1987 Buick GNX. This is the old Monogram High Performance Series kit hat I have had for a number of years and as this is a particular favourite of mine, I decided that now was the time to build it. Painted in Tamiya Black, this model was more or less built box stock with the addition of some tyre valves and some parts box license plates as the original decals were shot; the only ones salvageable being the GNX rear decal, the seat decals and the BUICK script for under the hood. Please feel free to comment on this one and thanks for looking.
  7. Thanks very much for the info,Greg , will certainly look into that mate. Much appreciated.
  8. Many thanks to you both, Ed and Joseph, your info was extremely helpful. Ed, I looked on the Bing website you forwarded and there was a few very good close up views which I had not seen before and they seem to back up my theory about the matt and satin black finishes on certain parts of the car. I certainly didn't know that a white one existed otherwise I may well have built that one instead!! A good excuse to buy another kit me thinks....!! Joseph, your info too was very useful, as I said earlier, we don't have many of these cars here in the UK, I have only ever seen one at a classic car show and I was fortunate enough to see a mint example of a Grand National at the Imperial Palace car collection in Las Vegas a couple of years ago. I can now finally finish off the bodywork thanks to both of you and I promise to post up pictures when she is finished, hopefully within the next couple of weeks. Many thanks again guys.
  9. Please forgive me guys if I have posted this in the wrong section but I need some help on my current project. I am currently building the Monogram Buick Regal GNX and I am currently at the stage where the chassis and body have been painted, the body having been polished and am now about to tackle the interior. .I have been looking at various reference pictures in both magazines and the internet and am I right in saying that the front and rear light surrounds, the front grille, the over riders and the bumper inserts are painted in a SATIN black against the gloss black paintwork? Also, the chin spoiler seems to be MATT black on all the photo's that I have seen; is this correct? As these cars are pretty rare here in the UK, I was hoping someone with maybe some knowledge of these awesome cars would be able to help me. I promise to post pictures up on the forum when she is finished (soon, hopefully!) so thanks guys for any help you can give me.
  10. Many thanks once again for all of your comments guys, they really are very much appreciated!!
  11. Many thanks for all of your positive comments ,guys, like I said in the text it was a challenging build what with it being a rereleased kit but using old moulding so when you get positive feedback from friends like yourselves, it makes you glad that you stuck with it because believe me, this kit very nearly went in the bin on numerous occasions!!
  12. Hi folks, here is model no5 for me this year, an Italeri Land Rover 109 LWB. I converted this into a van by panelling out the rear windows and used the double front bumper from the military Land Rover and painted it white with red chevron stripes to give it a more purposeful look. Painted in the same red as my Routemaster bus, I decided to use the London Transport decals from my other bus kit and turn it into a breakdown/service van as these were actually used by London Transport. The roof beacon and the rear facing spotlamps were from the Italeri truck accessories kit, the door lettering is rub down Letraset and as usual, KFS supplied the number plates and tax disc along with the baseball cap, the scaled down London A-Z street map book and the resin coffee mug sat on the dashboard. Scale rubber sheet was used for the huge rear mud flaps traditionally seen on old Land Rovers and a couple of old stickers in the back window and she was done. It did fight me in some places as this is quite an old kit originally tooled by Esci so in some places, the fit is not quite that good. As usual, all thoughts and comments are welcome and thank for looking.
  13. Hi folks, just a note to say a big thanks for all of your positive comments regarding my 928, also its been interesting reading your stories regarding Porsche's in general. If I am being totally honest, I am not really a big Porsche fan, I can take them or leave them but saying that, I like the old 80's 911 Turbo and the brutal 959 supercar as well as the 928. A friend of mine had a Boxster a few years ago and while other people would stand and stare at it, I wouldn't even give it a second glance, but each to their own I suppose. For the people that are interested, I have photographed the kit box as I failed to mention that it is a 1/24 Fujimi kit as people may have thought that it was the 1/20 Tamiya kit. Porscheman I honestly do not know if the wheels on my kit were just for the European market as I have seen both styles on 928's over here in the UK and whilst looking through the internet for reference I saw both wheel styles again on cars from the states. If I remember correctly, the wheels on your car are the same as the ones on the Tamiya 1/20 kit. Many thanks again for all your comments guys.
  14. This is model number 4 for me so far this year, my Fujimi Porsche 928S. Just a basic out of the box build on this one painted in Tamiya Light blue metallic and Tamiya German grey for the interior. Some UK plates and a tax disc finished off this quick build for me and as usual all thoughts and comments are welcome and thanks for looking.
  15. Well it certainly looks different, I will give you that. I wouldn't mind trying something like that myself...
  16. Very nice build for a Heller kit, I have the Tamiya kit in my collection to build. After seeing yours, I may have to dig mine out and have a look at it again...!!
  17. Stunning build, very nice indeed.
  18. Many thanks for all your comments guys , very much appreciated. Foxer, I love your Legacy wagons, you certainly did a good job on them, very impressive.
  19. That is awesome!! Love the photography setting too, very realistic.
  20. Nice tidy build, I am a big fan of rally cars and this one is stunning!!
  21. Very nice build of a great car from a great film!!
  22. Thanks for your comments Shelby, some people fail to realise that the Legacy was the predecessor to the Impreza and as you quite rightly state,is often the unloved Subaru.
  23. This is my third model of the year to date so far, my Hasegawa Subaru Legacy RS. Just a quick out of the box build for this one which turned out to be a bit disappointing as I had a few build issues such as the window tub not fitting into the body shell properly and a few issues with the suspension setup and to make matters worse, the clear red paint ran on the light bar and ruined the look; but that was most likely my own fault. The body was painted in Tamiya mica blue metallic and the wheels were painted with Tamiya gold instead of the chrome to give the car the classic Subaru look. After fitting some KFS number plates and a tax disc, the model was complete; from start to finish, this one took me just over 2 weeks to complete, a personal record for me!! Even though I am not 100% happy with this build, I thought that I would share this one with you and as always, all thoughts and comments are welcomed and thanks for looking.
