RC2 AMT/Ertl Winged Express Fuel Altered - Buyer's Choice
Daddyfink replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Talking to Mousie a few years back I asked about the one handed driving style we saw in so many pictures. He told me that Willie had not idea he was even doing it! Photographers where asking about it and he said that he was not doing that at all, until they showed him the pictures of it. He said it was because when the car got out of shape he was getting tossed around in the seat, so he would reach out and just hang on! He was not trying to put on a show, he was hanging on for dear life! Well, it became his trade mark and the legend was born! So much that when he switched to funny cars, which Mousie hated and led to their racing career demise, they brewed up the fake arm to rest on the cars window area. Or so the story goes! -
RC2 AMT/Ertl Winged Express Fuel Altered - Buyer's Choice

The kit is a pretty accurate representation of the second car. Considering how much both cars evolved, it is up to you to build the version you like, and box stock is fine. -
I have quite a few kits that are still sealed, most are in fine shape. I have a MPC 67 Firebird first issue in sealed condition and it is fine. On the other hand, I build a Revell Magnum P.I. Ferrari that had the box crushed by the shrink wrap. Luckily it was fine, but, it is a pretty crappy kit. As for this one, I am going to unwrap it to try and save the box. Like I said, the only cool factor on this was the fact that it was sealed, it's a Vegas kit and the price tag is till on it!

I am sure some of you have some old vintage kits that are still sealed, and am pretty sure that some of them are heading this way. The wrapping is living up to its name and shrinking. In some cases the wrap just gives up and breaks loose, but some of them get so tight you could use them for drums!! Being slowly crushed by their own shrink wrap. I know that this is not exactly a rare kit, but, I do like to have some original seal kits in the stash, but, this is not good for the box. So, do you unwrap and save the box from further damage and sacrifice that "new" kit feel, or just let nature takes it course?

The original car is probably the most documented car of the two. This was the original chassis that was run to its limits until the last crash that knocked it out of action. The second car, the Logghe Chassis car, was put together after they wrecked the first car, is the one the model is based on and is a totally different animal. But, there was only one Willie Borsch -

I am assuming you are talking about the Logghe Chassis car and not the first one that ended up in the Bakersfield land fill, right? -

So what are the accuracy problems with this kit? I built one already and really did not notice anything really off with it. -

This is super cool! I always thought of doing this truck, but no way it would have come out this good! Great job! Wunderbar!!! -
I think I used Testors Metalizer Steel with a dusting of Tamiya Gold Leaf

Any of the newer versions, which I believe last came out in the early 2000's would work. They are all basically the same under the bodies.

Well, these kits where actually being built by young boys, and maybe some girls, with endless imagination and and enthusiasms. It did not matter to them accurate they where, all they probably wanted was to build it and have fun with it. Not being built by a bunch of middle aged guys that have grown jaded by a hobby they claim to love so much.

Tell Greg we want all the finished models, regardless of type, under one thread!
-
Is this thread model related or anything in general? If it is model related thread, then lets stick to that. If it is wide open, then why was I told once that I am not supposed to post non model related items? I have stuck to that and have not posted non model related items. Otherwise I have some really nice groceries I got today that I can start posting tonight!! So Casey G83 has not posted here in a while, does that mean it is now a free for all on this thread?
