printable decal paper
935k3 replied to CelticModeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Do you have an EPSON printer? There decals have an issue with EPSON inks. Their paper is top quality. I found it has a clear protect film that needs removed before printing or painting. Testor's isn't bad but their white is not very opaque. -
This year's version of the Porsche 919 for the World Endurance Championship. In the words of Bart Scott (Jet fans remember) "I can't wait!".

If you can airbrush Alclad had thre aluminums that stick and do not rub off with handling. Aluminum, White aluminum(close Tamiya TS-30), Dark Aluminum and Duraluminum.

One tip when soldering is to heat the part and melt the solder onto it or you will get a cold joint that will break. Brass is definitely the way to go.

I changed to new mix. The original actually looked more pinkish orange in normal light. The new is Tamiya acrylics XF2 -white with some XF-4 green/yellow mixed in and some TS-79 s.g. gloss over all.

It's actually based on a Ford Granada Mk1

Anybody have good tips on what paints to replicate raw unpainted fiber glass as used in early Porsche race cars like the 935 and 917? I do airbrush so any good tips on mixes? See the fan and air shroud in pic below.

Another tip is make sure the surface you are putting foil on is as smooth as possible. -
Actually that is Monza, Italy. Anybody that has seen the movie Grand Prix with James Gardner should recognize that banking.

This should be interesting. Maybe more than the races. An outline proposal for the elimination qualifying was discussed. Q1-16 minutes duration; - After 7 minutes, the slowest driver is eliminated; - Slowest driver eliminated every 1 minute 30 seconds thereafter until the chequered flag; - 7 drivers eliminated, 15 progress to Q2. Q2- 15 minutes duration; - After 6 minutes, slowest driver eliminated; - Slowest driver eliminated every 1 minute 30 seconds thereafter until the chequered flag; - 7 drivers eliminated, 8 progress to Q3. Q3- 14 minutes; - After 5 minutes, slowest driver eliminated; - Slowest driver eliminated every 1 minute 30 seconds thereafter until the chequered flag; - 2 drivers left in final 1 minute 30 seconds.

Painting small or awkward parts
935k3 replied to danman6677's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you have a Radio Shack near by you can get the really small clips(the bare copper in pic below.) with no teeth. Crimp them on Bamboo Skewers and you have great way to hold parts. After painting stick the other end of stick in a block of Styrofoam till dry. i also drill into parts and insert wire leads to clip on to. -
Due to noise level restrictions imposed the year following it's 1991 win at Lemans it was banned. I heard a Mazda GTP car at the Glen and I will never forget the sound.

Master Airbrush question!!!!!!!
935k3 replied to retired & glad's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That is the problem cheap Chinese airbrushes, They have rubber seals that go bad with lacquers and laquer thinners used for cleaning. If you want a good gravity feed look at the Iwata Revolution or the Badger Patriot 105. Amazon and Chicagoairbrushsupply have some of the best prices. Also if you want a set with the widest coverage of needs look at he Paaasche Talon set with all three tip and needle sizes. pay the extra money and you have a more enjoyable experience,
