I gotta get one of those. I do not mind if it's curbside. I am happy they make such a car at all and what's there is nicely molded..

Tamiya has a color that allot of people that do Mclarens use, it looks like it was made for them but they didn't want the license fee. TS56 Brilliant Orange

They were removed. I added those. They make the body sit square. The body moved around an did not stay in a positive lock without them.

I have the chassis done the engine is molded in but It looks pretty good painted. The exhaust system was two separate parts. I have the basic colrs painted on the interior. I am going to do carpet with embossing powder(1st try).

Can I ask what clear coat it was exactly? It looks like Glosscote the way it pulled up. Tamiya's clear(TS-13) and Testors wet look have better chemical adhesion. Glosscote just lays on top as a separate layer. I truly think Glosscote is a shellac not lacquer. -

Is duplicolor better then rustoleum primer?

Yes the nozzles suck and I use the Tamiya nozzles also. The paint is great and sands beautifully. -

In a word, YES. Plastikote is even better if you can find it. -
Micro Mask by Microscale question

Ace, have you tried Tamiya's tape for curves? It's very flexible like the 3M fine line vinyl tapes. -
Micro Mask by Microscale question

I have found it can be very difficult to remove. I have tried many brands and found The Humbrol Maskol to be the best. It dries to a very solid rubbery texture that is easy to remove. Do not use any over Acrylic paints, they bond together and will not separate. -
Try a drop or two of Future under the decal this will make them stick and stay down better.

Very nice work. The Plastruct hex rod shown below makes pretty nice hose fittings. Also see the pic at bottom of my Porsche where I used it for fittings.

The kit is the Tamiya 911 Porsche 911 Turbo 88. This one has been painted awhile but just now starting it. Paint is Motip touchup paint F77-78 clear coated with Testors Wet look Clear. The wheels were satin chrome but I repainted them with Spaztix. This kit is partially snaploc assembly. I will fill all the holes and mount part an alternate way. No decision on interior colors yet. Te rear wing was cut loose for better paint access and to scribe trunk lines. Tamiya molded the entire car with rear deck and wing one piece. The front has a license plate housing that sticks out and is very unrealistic. This was removed and filled in with plastic so a normal separate plate can be used.

Great job Steve. I wish I would have built mine when I had one. I would probably solder the photo etch vents for strength.
-
Awesome job. The best build of that series of kits I have seen.

Could we see a pic of that "weird fogged body"?

Tamiya paint drying out?
935k3 replied to Oldmodelmaker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have had this problem also. Sometimes the paint will just not come off the brush onto what I am trying to paint. This is most apparent when using a small brush and detail painting. I started adding a drop or two of Liquitex Flow enhancer, available at Micheal's. This helps allot.
