  1. I did buy the receiver through the PX system, we had a catalog of stuff. The list price was $650, I think it was a little less than $300 for me. I always wanted a set of 901's they were great speakers. I bought the equalizer in Italy and got the speakers at a local shop in Harrisburg, PA. I also had but sold this Sansui Power amp
  2. They are worth getting fixed. There is allot of info on the net about fixing. I saw one for sale just for parts, $500. The parts are worth allot, main transformer is $150. Do you have the 8080DB withe the dolby controls. Apparently that board goes bad and everything goes through it. Mines does not have the dolby built in.
  3. Anybody into collecting or working on vintage equipment. I do not collect but still have stuff I bough when in the Navy. The receiver was bought in 1976 and still works. I just need to replace a couple of lights in the power meters. I am making new grill covers for the speakers, the originals were foam that disintegrated over time. They still sound great. These old receivers look better and sound better than the new stuff. The system is very loud. The receiver is a Sansui 8080, the speakers are B-I-C Venturi Formula 6 and the 10 band per channel equalizer is a Pioneer SG9500
  4. Tamiya now sells a retarder for their jar acrylic paints.
  5. I think embossing powder is mor in scale than flocking. This my first try at it. I sprinkled on wet Tamiya acrylic jar paint.
  6. It apaears it is not available in the US yet(Tamiya America) I would love to try it. I currently use Future under decals especially when they go on an unpainted surface like windows. It works very well when dry.
  7. James the kit is Tamiya's OPEL CALIBRA DTM.
  8. Turpentine(Testors Brush cleaner) should remove the enamel with out hurting the lacquer
  9. I would airbrush the entire wheel with Alclad Dark Aluminum. Then mask the center and put a gloss black base over the exposed outer rim( I use Tamiya TS-14 airbrushed) Then Spaztix Chrome airbrushed over the black
  10. The blue and gold look great together. Looking forward to the rest of the launches this week. The rest of the schedule: 21st February: Renault, London 22nd February: Force India, Silverstone 23rd February: Mercedes, Silverstone 24th February: Ferrari, Fiorano and McLaren, Woking 25th February: Williams, TBA 26th February: Toro Rosso, Red Bull & Haas, Barcelona
  11. Contact Tamiya America for replacement parts. Also for drying paint try a food dehydrator. See this thread Dehydrators Next to my airbrushes and spray booth this is the best money I ever spent on the hobby.
  12. The chassis and interior are done.
  13. If you have not seen the documentary on rallying called 50 years sideways it is very worth the time (1 hr 29min.) It is a great form of motorsport with some of the best drivers anywhere. Check out the Sow Oval in Sweden at the 6:30 mark. The Stratos is great to watch. The link 50 yrs sideways
  14. Action from today's Rally Sweden JUMPS!
  15. You lucky dog!
  16. I noticed this on the Tango Papa website: This decal paper is the same high quality paper used by many of the model decal makers around the world, with one major difference: IT IS LESS EXPENSIVE! The paper is true water-slide paper and can be used with most laser printers, ALPS printers and color copiers. Before making multiple copies, always check to make sure the paper is compatible with the printer or copier you are using. Because of the nature of decal film, ink jet printers WILL NOT WORK with this paper. The main use of this paper is for making decals that will be placed on plastic or painted cardboard and wood surfaces. It may work for other applications - but it may not - be sure to check before purchasing or using in large quantities.
  17. I have gotten very nice gloss by carefully wiping Future on then when dry applying ZYMOL brand wax. It deepens the gloss. Allot of other brands have cleaner that actually removes Future. The Porsche 911 below was done this way.
  18. It.s also a geat to drive in video games. I have it in Need for Speed Unleashed Shift2. Here is a video of the ride Darrel Waltrip being a passenger on a lap Waltrip at Bathurst
  19. NISMO TV channel on Youtube will cover the entire race. It looks like it starts at 1:45 PM EST on Saturday. Those who have watched this race know it's a great race on great track and always a shootout finish at the end. Link is here NISMO TV
  20. I had to tone down the chrome it was too bright for a race car. I airbrushed Testor's Semi-Gloss Lacquer. The kit has no tire decals. I used some spares I got from Tamiya America. I will have to make some Dunlop decals for the body.
  21. Chassis pretty much done now. I will starting on the interior next.
  22. Thanks. Group A racing did not allow much modifications to the street version.
