Anything Good at Harbor Freight?
935k3 replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here are a few good things I have got. Hollow punches, diamond rotary grinding bits for the Dremel and diamond cut off wheels. They have allot of things that are useful and work for building models. I use there 3 gallon pancake compressor and love it. -
Best Airbrush Needle Size for Tamiya Acrylics/Lacquers
935k3 replied to lghtngyello03's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I have the Talon. For doing a body I would use the large tip(.66mm) Tip size also affects the sheen on a semigloss paint. If you want it a little flatter use a smaller tip. Also take into consideration the size of the part being painted. Practice ,practice and practice some more. -
I have also had issues with the newer Passche hoses. I have Iwata and Paasche airbrushes so I was using adapters on the Iwatas. I have now switched to Iwata hose adapters on my Paasche airbrushes and got a hose(Iwata type) from Harbor Freight. This fixed all the air leak problems I had. The Paasche hose does not let enough threads exposed to tighten well. Also you should install a cutout valve on the out put of your compressor so you can change things out without losing air.

How do you fell about this http://www.motorsport.com/nascar-cup/news/scientist-bill-nye-urges-nascar-to-shift-to-electric-cars-670011/ personally I am with Enzo Ferrari when he said 'there is a melody in the noise" .

I am working on this one now. I got new decals made by Shunko for it. They are making allot of really nice decals for older Tamiya kits. This is the 1/20 scale kit. I built a full roll cage and will do some detailing. I lowered the rear suspension. If you look at any type of 935 the top of the rim should be right at the top of the wheel opening with no sidewall exposed at this point.

It is most likely moisture in the air supply to the airbrush. Do you have proper water trap installed? If it is at the compressor output you may need on closer to the airbrush, such as the Paasche inline trap.

Alclad II ALC-118 Gold Titanium – Problem
935k3 replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This paint does seem to be transparent to some extent. I ahve had good results when a silver base is used. Tamiya does have a spray TS-87 Titanium Gold which works great. the gold parts on this Nissan interior are TS-87 airbrushed. -
How to remove polish before repaint?
935k3 replied to Jon Cole's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Novus must have silicone in it. I learned the hard way. I painted over a body polished with Novus and got the worst case of fish eyes ever. -
How to remove polish before repaint?
935k3 replied to Jon Cole's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Do not use alcohol on lacquers of any type, or acrylics. Ammonia will safely remove polishes and waxes. You could use 3600 - 6000 grits in the micromesh polish kits too be absolutely sure. -
This glue seems a little stronger than other PVA glues. It can be cleaned up with a damp Q-Tip and will not attack anything. I use it for allot final asembly work.

Decals, Shelf Life, and Other Issues.
935k3 replied to 2002p51's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I also have heard that acid in the backing paper causes this. If you ever had any older Cartograf decals they are on a blue tinted paper and they never seem to yellow. I have some that are almost 30 yrs old that have not yellowed. -
You may want to consider the NEO for Iwata TRN-1(.35mm Gravity Feed) or TRN-2(.55m Side Feed) .They are trigger type They do not use the O-Ring they just use the usual Teflon packing seal. They both cost around $110 on AMAZON or Chicagoairbrushsupply.com. Hobby Lobby has the TRN-1 at $179.99 but you could use a 40% off coupon. Chicagoairbrushsupply.com has parts for both. I have both of these and I love them.
