  1. Picked this up at our local Hobbytown USA fo $30. That's actually cheap for Tamiya's newer re-issues. The decals in the new realeases are better too. I used to race this one on NEED FOR SPEED. This one is complete with engine detail.
  2. Nick those belts are red and you know it!(LOL) You saw them today. They are about equal to Tamiya Bright Red(TS49). My camera gets funny with reds.
  3. Finished the chassis and interior on one of my favorite rally cars. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of colors because I could not find any reference details and Hasegawa's painting instructions are vague.
  4. That's beautiful, I have not liked this car much but yours looks great. What color did you use?
  5. Here is a picture and story about Ferrari's pit light that failed them on Masa's stop. F1 definitely has the best toys in racing. "What a mess they made. The traffic light system is a beautiful bit of work which is normally auto-operated by the movements of the fuel hose. Excellent thinking and application of clever ideas. But, either on auto or operated by the human hand(as at Felipe's stop), it seems a step too far and an example of a Formula one team getting too clever for their own good. From what I could tell, it is going to be scrapped either by Ferrari or the FIA. As you can see from these pics(taken at Singapore on Friday night) the unit itself is a thing of beauty(streamlined, carbon etc). Pity that henceforth, it is likely only to be seen in a museum."
  6. Looks good Nick. The lines that reappeared are classic ghosting caused by hot paints like Duplicolor. You need a good primer base and apply paint very lighly at first. Silvers and lighter color metallics tend to be hotter paints than other colors. I have even had Tamiya's paint do it. Some people say brushing on some liquid glue over the lines after sanding cause them to raise. Then sanding agin should keep them from coming back. Decals have always been one of my favorite things in modelling(I really mean that), I mastered them pretty early on but I have a learned allot over the years. One tip that really works good is a hot damp cloth pressed over a decal works btter then solvents for gett them to bend and conform. They can be set instantly this way. Sometimes a hair dryer on a very low setting works but you need to be careful with plastic.
  7. The visuals from this track are amazing, it looks like a video game come to life. I love the track going under the grandstand. Only F1 can put on a show like this. Bernie wants Suzuka to be a night race under the lights. BTW if you see the city in the daytime you can see it's floating soccer field out in the harbor.
  8. I used to play TOCA allot and I learned from it that other cars make good brakes for your car and can hold you in on the turns(LOL). Do you remember the cheat code mods like driving a tank?
  9. What would a year in F1 be without the drama. The ruling that drive thru penalties are not appealable seems like one of those rules they make up as they go along. I am rooting for Massa himself not really for Ferrari. Whether you like Ferrari or not everbody knows they are the heart and soul of F1. No other car name in the world is so recognizable as something special. Porsche is pretty special too though, I love them both.
  10. Need more info, what kind of paint on car? What kind of paint on decal. Also you might be able to polish the paint off the decal. Pictures would also help.
  11. It's 1/24 scale.
  12. Thanks to all for the compliments. I forgot mention that the gas caps, mirrors, tail and headlights were nice polished metal pieces include in the kit.
  13. Chaparral 2D. This is the japanese Modeler's kit of the 1966 Nurburgring 1000K winner.
  14. If you don't think the tire belongs there it shows you do not know these cara very well, all cars at this time were required to carry a spare tire. Even in 1970 the Porsche 917 carried a collapsable spare tire. They were also mandated to have a set amount of luggage space which is why the 1966 Ford GT had 2 big empty boxes in the rear of the car. This car was a 2 speed automatic believe it or not.
  15. This is the Modeler's kit. It's almost done. Paint is Krylon White. This is the 1966 Nurburgring 1000K winner.
  16. It depends what you are glueing. Faller is an excellent glue for joining engine blocks or similar assembly. For longer seams and other plastic to plastic where a Liquid Glue is preferred Ambroid Proweld or Plastruct Bondene are the best, A good substitute is Methyl Ethyl Ketone. I only use super glue for metal to plastic and other dissimilar materials like resin. In some cases aan Epoxy can be used. In my my opinion Super Glue will never be as strong as a good Liquid Glue in glueing plastic together. By the way Faller lasts forever, I had a bottle that was about 15 years old that was still good. It's halfway between a Liquid and a Tube Glue in constistency.
  17. Here is one nobody mentioned, it's pure classic Rock & Roll. Drivin Sister by Mott the Hoople. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bY82OS0jntw
  18. If you are using a touchup gun the pressure should be 45-60 lbs. Only a HVLP Gravity feed type gun can use 10 PSI. With proper pressures a touchup gun is probably better for one color body paint jobs. Thinners come in different drying rates and to fast drying thinner could be the problem.
  19. I think this box is one of the best ever. I think Tamiya's boxes are the slickest and most graphic. I realise not everybody likes their subject matter but you have to admit it's class stuff.
  20. I think the man needs help and he has way too much time on his hands. Awsome work though.
  21. I have been listening to Radiolemans.com for the last 3 days, I am really psyched after listening to all of the qualifying and practice sessions. I also heard Porsche will be in LMP1 next year and supposedly Chevrolet has a LMP1 program. Also I heard that if the Peugeot's win the ACO will change the rules to slow down the diesels and if they lose it will stay te way itis now to give them another shot at it. Gotta love the French. GO CORVETTE!!!!!! Here is great Vette video from Qualifying.
  22. The word the is spelled T-H-E not T-H-A. Please knock off the ridiculous accent in your typing. It's not funny. What are you trying to prove by doing it anyway.
  23. Don't forget next week on the Internet on Wednsday and Thursday afternoon Eastern Time you can hear the practice and qualifying live on the net at RadioLemans.com. I always listen at work every year. They do a great job and have a good position to pick up audio from the track. People at work might think it strange to hear Judd V10's going by but I agree with Enzo Ferrari when he said "there is a music in the noise". I believe that each days sessions are at 1:00 Pm to 3:00 PM and hour break and then 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM(all times Eastern Standard Time, GMT-5). Listening to these sessions always gets me psyched for the race. Here is a good pic of the Dome S102.
  24. Here is the link to the Peugeot carsh in testing. I am really psyched about this race. I like seeing the roofs on the cars again. I think Lemans and Spa are the greatest racetracks on earth, Martinsville and all the NASCAR tracks are pitiful compared to these tracks. I really like the new Dome. Here is a great scene from practice, you got love a real Highway Sign wth a racecar going by.
  25. IT is better to paint the plastic, decals stick to a painted surfuce much better. Semi-Gloss Black works well for most CF except Kevlar(Ligh Yellow Green)
