  1. The F1 world that is, Ferrari officially anounced they will not participate in 2010 championship if the FIA goes ahead with the budget cap of 40 million Euros. Story at link below. I think that would be the end of F1, love or hate them they are the heart and soul of the sport. Ferrari
  2. Great job on both. Is the revell kit a reboxed Hasegawa? I have built the Tamiya kit, those tailights are a bit of a challenge to paint. Tamiya's has the rear bulkhead, Hasegawa's does not.
  3. Here is link for something that is hard to finde, the right size mesh screen fo your race cars. You can get this stuff at AC Moore craft stores. It's perfect when painted black it very easy so sse the radiator details behind it. the piece is 20" X 16" but is folded up to about 4" x 5" in the package. It's practically a lifetime supply. Wire Mesh
  4. I built this kit years ago and I do not remember having any problem with that. I do remember having an issue with the front rims fitting over the brake and hub assembly.
  5. It's sad to see it come to this but they are self inflicted for the most part. One thing I read the other day that is sort of funny in all this though was that in this bad economy guess who was the most profitable car company in the first quarter. It was Ferrari, a company that has always built highly desirable cars.
  6. Bob, I use primarily Plastikote and Krylon, it has happened with both.
  7. Come to think of it I have had some of those problems, I thought it was holes or cavities in the plastic. It did only happen in the dehydrator and mine alwasy showed up in the primer.
  8. Try some of this stuff brushed over puttied areas after drying and sanding it seals the edges very good. It comes in White(new) or Grey. Also if the line around the area shows up on the primer coat spray some primer in the lid let it evaporate for a few minutes and brush some primer over the area to fill in. A good primer will blend to together when sanded.
  9. I am beginning to think somebody better check the earth's axis it must be off. Can this really be happening, 3 races in and Ferrari has no points. What is this world coming to? I think KERS should be abandoned, A racecar does not need gimmicks to be popular. It's not reliable and is no benefit to the fans. Nobody can tell if it has contributed anything to the racing. It is hard to believe Ferrari won't improve over the course of the year. An interesting year is in store for sure.
  10. And yet another change was in 1988 the rules stated that the top Venturi Tunnel for Ground Effects had to cover(or be lower than) than the rear axles. The Hasegawa 962 is probably an 89 or later version, also the exhaust panel size and panel lines are very different than earlier cars. To accurately do an earlier 962(like the RoG Rothman's car) These details need to be fixed. The Tunnel thing is more work than it's worth though. It would take parts from the Hasegawa 962, Tamiya's 962 and 956 kits to make a fully detailed and accurate 962. And also remember all IMSA cars were single turbo withe rear exiting exhaust and one large intercooler that sat over top the engine.

Krylon White is my favorite white it's a very bright white and it covers well and polishes out nice. I always use Krylon or Plastikote white primer under all lighter colors and gray under darker colors. Plastikote does sand better but it is hard to find.

Thanks everybody. To 3men2s(what does that mean anyway?) I probably won't be finishing anything for awhile. I usually just sort structual issues and paint bodys and stuff I can do with spray cans over the summer due to not having enough electrical capacity to run my compressor and air conditioner at the same time. My spraybooth and bench are in a finished attic so the AC wins over the summer. I am starting the Lemans Miniature 1/24 kit of the 2002 Bentley right now. I had this kit painted but it got dropped and a piece of paint about 2" by 1" chipped off so I had to strip it and I am going to make it go together better this time anyway. It will probably get built this fall, I will post any progress.

Hasegawa 's Jaguar XJR-8 Sprint version. Paint is Krylon White, only added details is seat belts, fire extinguisher and pedals. This kit shows no Silk Cut lettering on the box art but includes all Silk Cut markings on the decal sheet. All purple areas are well fitting decals. This is the recent re-release.
  14. I use dullcote and semigloss regularly over decals. Just make sure it's dry. It is better to airbrush the decal if possible because you will get a thinner coat. Thick clear coats can make a decal more brittle.
  15. What is the Truth in 24 besides being a website?
  16. I don't know but I can't wait se this run. Look at this overhead view of the Audi R15. I have never seen anything like it. Check this link for more pics including the new Aston Martin coupe. Sebring Scrutineering
  17. Very well done tutorial, I do use a hair dryer occasionly but may main method is a clean hot damp(not wet) tissue prssed firmly over decal. It will set instantantly with no wrinkles. I use ahot water pot near or at boiling hot, I dip the tissue or cloth then damp it out on a paper towel then press. Here's a car that really needs help with decals. Tamiya's JACCS Accord.
  18. Great job Chris as usual. Btw for those who didn't know Chris was our clubs modeler of the year, and well deserved. he jumps around to allot of different types of cars but they are all well done.
  19. Nice job Chris. Watch out some of those Monogram decals can be very brittle, I remember the 7-11 decals were very bad. There old decals also had to have allot of execess glue cleaned off the top of the decal.

    JACCS Accord

Thanks Randy, you know that's a good idea. I will look into doing one on decal application.

    JACCS Accord

Thanks David, I take that as a great compliment from a builder of your caliber.

    JACCS Accord

Thanks, I got some neon paint at A.C. MOORE for 49 cents a bottle. It was over a week to decal it. I cannot do decals for real long sessions, they just demand too much patience and attention.

    JACCS Accord

Just finished, Tamiya's JACCS Accord. Squadron Hobbies were selling these for $3.99 plus shipping. Paint is Krylon White and the rest is decals. Some touchup was done with neon paints from a craft store. Before decals: After:
  24. Here is a spy photo of Audi's newest wundercar the RD15 TDI. It will be ready for Sebring to battle the Pug 908's, I can't wait.
  25. If it was Testor's Laquer you should try 91% Alcohol to strip it.
