  1. Thanks, Jim and Bob! I appreciate your comments! There were some bigger wheels in this kit and I didn't want to use the keystones, as its tedious painting the black in between the spokes. But the wheel backs in this kit were solid chrome (see below). I guess you would have to paint the face of the wheelback black over the chrome. So I didn't like that and found some spoked wheelbacks and a set of tires in the wheel and tire parts box. The tires in this kit were also missing. So I got a set of wheels together. Engine went into the chassis, chassis is complete, windows and interior in the body, and body onto the frame. And now its on wheels! 17" on the front and 19" or 20" on the back! Its all over but the detailing! Thanks for looking!
  2. Thanks, Ray, Jeremy, James and Mike1 I appreciate your comments! ?
  3. Thanks, Jim! I appreciate your comment! Finished the engine. Added plug wires and scratched a coil as the one that was molded onto the head seemed out of scale. Chassis seems to be pretty simple so I should be onto final assembly soon. Thanks for looking!
  4. Thanks, Bob and David! I appreciate your comments! Finished the foil on the body. Doesn't look too bad considering all the challenges with this body. I'll add the paint on the stainless at completion and set this aside for a bit to finish the Mustang! Thanks for looking! ?
  5. Thanks, Ron and Jim! I appreciate your comments! Finished foiling the body and finished the interior. I added gauge decals but they are hard to see. Painted the wood areas and added chrome pen details. No foil in the interior as there is no chrome trim. One photo with the interior mocked up in the body for fit since I had to use a clamp to hold the dash in place. Thanks for looking! ?
  6. Thanks, Carl and David! I appreciate your comments! I decided to rub this one out before returning to the Mustang and this one is about 3/4 done. Still have some work on the left side and the hood. Not perfect but looks OK. I don't know what happened with the front fender stainless. Looks like it was added after it came out of the mold. Thanks for looking!
  7. Thanks, Steve and Edgar! I appreciate your comments! I'll have more on this one later today!
  8. Thanks, Joe, David, Jeremy, and Greg! I appreciate your comments! I've been working on a 55 Chevy to get it painted so I'll have something in the pipeline. I did manage to get the engine bay painted black and have started now on the foil. So now I'm back on this one. Thanks for looking! ?
  9. I put the Mustang on hold to get another body painted while the weather is nice. Might rain tomorrow. I got this kit from my son's father-in-law who found it in Storage Locker when he was cleaning it out so he gave it to me. As the sticker says it was sold at Wal-Mart for $6.96. Another sticker says the date was in 1991. There are not many parts and I thought this one would be one I could paint quickly and have it ready to build later. But the body on this one was in terrible shape. I hope the new re-issue of this Monogram kit is in better shape this one. Sink marks at the rear taillight housing on the inside of the fender, another at the bottom of the trunk. Sprue attachments at the bottom of the trunk in the trunk line. The doors/front fenders were bulging at the seams and had flash. The door lines and trunk lines need to be re-scribed. And the front fenders around the headlights were a little sunken. I fixed as much as I could and the painted the body with Dupli-Color Ebony Black. I also painted the other parts since there weren't many. I will try using the Revell decals with the interior, keeping in mind that this is a 1/24 kit and the Revell is 1/25. The paint looks pretty good except that the paint beaded up on the front stainless. Hopefully, I can just sand that out and then foil. Here are a few photos. Thanks for looking! Don't know how I missed this flash!
  10. Thanks, Dennis! They must have fixed the mold because I see no difference between the right and left sides at the rear and the taillight panel fits fine without glue and stays in place. I rubbed out the body and it looks pretty good. Here are a couple of photos with the overhead mag light off to display the color better. Thanks for looking!
  11. Thanks, David, Curtis, and Eric! I appreciate your comments!
  12. I started this one a couple of weeks ago when I wanted to paint something quickly due to weather that was coming in. I thought I could use Camel Yellow to come close to or substitute for Grabber Orange. I used Tamiya white primer and then the color. Unfortunately, it was light on the edges and panel lines like I hadn't used a primer. So it went back in the box and I moved on to something else. Then I remembered that I had another one of these kits that was incomplete as it was missing the chrome taillight/bumper piece. I got it out So and found the body and body related parts and I'm back in business without have to remove the paint on the previously painted body. So the only colors for this Boss Mustang were Grabber Orange, Green or Blue and Calypso Coral, and Pastel Blue (almost white). I have none of those colors so I went with a color I have that is a cousin to Grabber Green -Tamiya Light Green Pearl. It washed out a little in these photos but I like the color and the paint went on well. So here I go! Thanks for looking!
  13. Very nice fabrication work, Greg! You're taking this kit to a whole new level! ??
  14. Looks great! Looks like the paint was poured on! Very nicely done! ??
  15. Nice paint and detail, Gustavo! I really like the paint finish and color. Can you tell us what paint that is?
  16. Very nicely done, Michael! Nice paint, good execution on a auto rarely seen auto. Good work! ??
  17. This 1989 Chevy Beretta GTU grocery getter is done! Paint is Tamiya Italian Red with a non-stock two-tone interior of gray and tan using Tamiya Gunmetal and Krylon Sand. The turbo engine was a nightmare with missing pins, broken pins, and no pins contemplated as all. But its glued together with super glue so its not going to come apart. Built box stock after sitting in the closet for 30 plus years. Thanks for looking! ?
  18. Thanks, Jeremy and Carl! I appreciate your comments! This one is done! The turbo engine in the car was a nightmare! Missing pins, pins that break, and no pins at all! But I finally got it together and its not coming apart because there is plenty of superglue on this engine! I also had to shorten the radiator support on each side to clear the ground effects that I glued on before painting. Probably should have waited to glue on the front panel until after the chassis and engine were in the body. But it all finally came together despite the 30-year procrastination. Thanks for looking! ?
  19. Thanks, David, Larry and Ken! I appreciate your comments! ?
  20. I rubbed out the body as much as I care too and then painted the black window trim. I taped off the window trim and used a sharpie and black acrylic paint around the mirror and in the corners. I taped off the cowl and radiator support in the engine compartment and sprayed it with semi-gloss black paint. So the paint on the body is completed. I still have to rub out the hood. On to the engine! Thanks for looking! ?
  21. Thanks, Charlie, Curtis and Ken! I appreciate your comments! I realize the Beretta had a very plain interior. Photos that I have seen seem to display a lighter and darker shades of tan or gray in the interior. Maybe its just the difference between fabric and plastic parts but it seems to be different shades. Personally, I don't like gray and generally use Gunmetal and flat it out for more modern interiors. This interior has very little detail. No trim on the doors and only a couple of gauges on the dash. So I thought I would jazz it up a little bit by making it a two-tone with Gunmetal and Tan. So that's the departure from stock. Thanks for looking and thanks for the info!
  22. I bought this kit a long time ago, probably 1990 or 1991. I also bought the Indy Pace Car model, a convertible, having grown up in Indianapolis, I was a big Indy Car fan. I actually gave the Indy Pace Car to a fellow modeler at the time who had ruined his model and wanted to try to build another. So this one hung out in the closet for the last 30 years. I don't know how the Beretta became the Pace Car for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing but the Beretta was short-lived in the Chevy stable. I've started this kit and its pretty basic. I have attached the ground effects and painted the body red, one of 5 colors used on this model according to the instructions. The instructions suggest that the interior should be gray or tan. So I'm going with a gray and tan combination in the interior. I'll rub it out tomorrow and see where this goes. The black trim around the windows and the B pillar I'm sure will be a lot of fun! Thanks for looking! ?
  23. Thanks Curtis! I'm with you! ?
  24. Thanks, Eric and Bob! I appreciate your comments! Yes, although these decals are not cut in many pieces, the are thin and easy to apply and suck down because they are thin. I used a new blade to cut them at the front and at the trunk line and they cut nicely and didn't break. These were much better than the AMT 67 Camaro decals which were too thick. I didn't get them exactly straight over the rear spoiler, but close enough. Thanks for looking! ?
  25. Thanks, David and Jeremy! I appreciate your comments! Jeremy, I broke one on this build too but I had some extras since I have built a few without them! ?
