Nice work, Csaba! I'm sure you will work the little bugs out! ? ? -
Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! ?

Another 1969 Camaro RS is done! The color is Tamiya Light Blue metallic inside and out. Houndstooth seat inserts were added with decals from Scale Motorsports. Plug wires from Morgan Automotive, scratched fuel lines and fuel block, Pro Tech heater hoses and air cleaners from the parts box. Wheels are from the AMT 70 Monte Carlo. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Steve and Carl! I appreciate your comments! This one is done! Another 69 Camaro in the books. I still have a 67, 68, two 69 RS, two Yenkos, and two 70 1/2s in the closet so I am sure this won't be the last one. Its a relatively easy kit to build and with a few aftermarket parts builds up pretty nice. Thanks for looking! ?

Its all together now and the decal stripes are in place. Only a few more parts and decals and it will be done. I need to add the Z-28 emblems, detail the marker lamps, add Camaro decals, license plates and an exterior mirror.

I finished the chassis and installed the engine and so it was time to do a mock-up. I don't like the Revell Rally wheels as they aren't deep enough, with no slots in the wheels and the molding doesn't seem to be correct So I borrowed wheels from the AMT 70 Monte Carlo. The bigger tires didn't work but the wheels did work with the smaller tire with some modification to the wheelback. The chrome is also a bit dull either due to age or poor chroming. But they still look better than the Revell wheel and I used a little darker aluminum on the steel portion of the wheel. As many times as I have built this kit, I couldn't get it to sit on all fours correctly. The springs were weak and not supporting the rear wheels properly. Then it hit me--I forgot the install the shocks. It makes a big difference on this model because the shock actually do push the springs into an arc and support the rear axle and keep it straight. So once that was fixed, it sat pretty well. I still had to slot the rear wheelbacks to move the rear wheel forward but that was a small adjustment. I forget if it was before or after these photos but it will be evident in the final shots when completed. So now I have the window glass in, taillights mounted, firewall installed and its ready for final assembly. The next set of photos should be almost finished and on wheels! Thanks for looking!

David, you are doing some very nice detail work on this curbside. I have never built a Fujimi kit. it seems it is bit like an MPC kit in terms of fitment. How would you compare it? Nice work so far and I wish you success in completion! ??

Really nice work, Greg! That Tamiya LP white paint turned out nice. I just bought a couple of bottles of basic colors to brush paint small parts since I can't get Metalizer any more. I'll have to break out the air brush and give it a try in the future. Your Charger looks great! ??

Thanks, Mike and Jeremy! I appreciate your comments! I finished building the engine today. In addition to plug wires, I wanted to try to plumb the dual carbs. Since these carbs are two-piece assemblies, I first glued the bottom onto the intake and then laid out the plumbing. I built a fuel block from two pieces of .080" Channel strip plastic glued together. then I drilled a hole in the side of the block. I ran one piece of wire out the back for rear carb; another piece of wire in the side hole that I drilled for the front carb and, another piece of wire out the front of the block running to the fuel pump. Once all the wire was in place, I notched the tops of the carbs a bit and glued the tops on. In order for all this to be visible, I added small air filters from the parts box. They are a old and a little dull looking so I might try to foil them. Thanks for looking!

Nice interior and foil, Greg! Still amazed that you don't sand or rub out your body paint. Nice work! ?
-
Thanks, Charlie! I appreciate your comment! The interior is done. I used decals from the Revell 69 Camaro convertible kit but you can't see the gauges in the dash anyway. I flatted out the houndstooth decals, added BMF, chrome pen and paint to various parts. The color is the same as the exterior just a little flatter over gray primer. Engine is next. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Carl and Joe! I appreciate your comments! I did manage to get the fan installed. I hung the fan shroud on the fan when I installed the engine and then glued the shroud to the radiator after the engine glue had dried.

Thanks, Chaz, Greg, and Steve! I appreciate your comments! Today, I thought I would add houndstooth seat inserts on the interior seats. I have some Scale Motorsports houndstooth decals that I have for about 8 years and used them once or twice. So I added a coat of clear lacquer to the decals and set out to cut them out and apply to the seats. I have some decals from the Revell 69 Camaro convertible that I can use as a pattern. But first, I thought I should paint the insert with some light blue to provide some contrast once I get the black decals in place. So I set about cutting and applying the decals and finally they are done. I left a border on the back seats and some decals came out better than others. But its taken most of the day, so I am ready to move on. I add some dullcote once they are dry. Thanks for looking!

Thanks, Joe! I appreciate your comment! Body is rubbed out and foiled.

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! I have a 69 Camaro working now in the same color. I like to try new colors but you can never go wrong with Light Blue Metallic.

I wanted to get something painted today as it is going to rain the rest of the week. I first painted it a Krylon Fusion blue since it had primer in it supposedly and I wanted to speed up the process. Well, I didn't like the color so I followed with Testors Star Spangled Blue that I had on the shelf for a long time. Well, too many spangles in that paint. Note to self: Only use Testors Extreme lacquers on Customs, Hot Rods, or Clown Cars. So I finished with Tamiya Light Blue Metallic. Its a little darker because of the previous coats of paint but it think it will do. I've also painted the other parts so I should be set for a few days. Thanks for looking!

Thanks, David, Paul, and David! I appreciate your comments! I don't know what I'm going to do with the 69 yet. Waiting for the paint to come off and then I'll decide. Started a Mustang but screwed up the paint on it too. Maybe start something else.

Unbelievable! Nice work Steve! ??

This is the recently re-issued AMT 1967 Chevy Camaro Z-28. I painted it with Tamiya Light Blue Metallic with a black interior. The engine shot (a little blurry) is during construction as I don't want to remove the hood while the decals are still setting. I used the silver decals in the kit and everything is box stock except I added plug wires, a coil, and a fuel line. I still have to cut the decals at the trunk panel line and touch-up the blue on a couple of edges with a brush. So now I have built both the AMT and Revell kits and I much prefer the Revell kit. Both have Custom Trim which I eliminated. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, David and Jeremy! I appreciate your comments! This is an update on the 69 Camaro I wanted to do next. The paint really didn't work out well and I guess that is not a color that I should be using. I tried a number of different colors lately and this one just isn't w.orking out. Perhaps my base coat wasn't pristine enough for the candy Lime Green. In any event, it is too blochy, light and dark spots. So its going into the oven cleaner and I am moving on to something else. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, David! the 67 is finally done! I had some problems with the decals. I was trying to use the white ones and tucking the front of the long stripe on the hood inside the hood edge and it ripped. I couldn't fix it so I then used the silver ones. I didn't try to use the Micro Sol this time and I think that helped but it took me all day to get these decals on. But I think I like the silver ones better with this blue. I also managed to get the left wing window re-installed with the kit piece. Since the interior is in, it will sit on top of the door panel better while gluing it in to the A pillar. I drilled out the molded in headlights and added clear lenses. The taillights are one piece chrome that have to be painted with Stop Light Red. So here are some photos. No engine photos as I don't want to disturb the decals at the moment. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Ken, Bill, David and David! I appreciate your comments! David, if you like 1969 Camaros, you'll like my next project. A Revell 69 Camaro Z-28 RS/SS in Tamiya Candy Lime Green or as I like to think of it, Frost Green with a Lime kicker! I wanted to see what the color looked like and I have five 69 Camaros that I purchased in a group of kits so - why not. I had to get it painted today as the weather is going to turn cold and rainy. So this will give me something to rub out and foil while I watch the Super bowl. Thanks for looking! ?
