  1. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! ?
  2. Well, that wasn't too bad! I'm sure its not the way that AMT or Round 2 would put it together but its on wheels and everything went back into place. I had to shorten the radiator to close the hood but all the parts, including both radiator hoses, the fan, fan shroud and all the pieces for the firewall. I may leave the heater hoses out as I feel pretty lucky to get all this back together with few problems and no scratches in the paint. I do have some foil to repair but that will be pretty easy. I also had to substitute a piece of acetate for the wing window on the left side as the kit piece didn't have enough of a bottom lip or flange to mount it and it was short. Old mold, I guess. I think I can finish it up from here. Thanks for looking! ?
  3. Thanks, David! Good to know! How do you know and remember all this stuff? Did you work as a designer at Chevrolet? Even if I knew all this stuff I sure wouldn't remember it. Thanks for your help! Well, its messy, but I got the chassis, interior, and body together. Just one catch - I have to put the engine and other parts that I knocked out back in place. Now, where did I put that engine puller? I may leave the fan off since you won't be able to see it anyway inside the shroud. Thanks for looking! ?
  4. Finished the interior. I tried to improve this bucket as much as I could. I added three decals for gauges under the dash as they were not included on the decal sheet. I added some foil to the doors and tried to make it as small as possible. The door handles and window cranks were almost non-existent so I added some PE I had although the door handle may not be correct as the actual car has pulls in front of the armrests. But this interior has no armrests unless those are supposed to be armrests on the front of the door. I also added a turn signal lever to the steering column. Thanks for looking! ?
  5. Thanks, Carl and David! I appreciate your comments! Engine is done. added plug wires and a fuel line. Scratched a coil as one was not included in the kit. I may try to find another air cleaner as this one had a bad attachment point the sprue. I'll add heater hoses during final assembly. I'll also add the oil filler tube then.
  6. Thanks, Jeremy, Csaba and David! I appreciate your comments! The tedium that I enjoy is foiling the body. Rubbed out and foiled!
  7. Thanks, Carl, David, David, and Mike! I appreciate your comments! Seems like a lot of work just to paint the water bottle and doghouse but it looks so much better sprayed than brushed. Took me most of the afternoon but its gonna rain the next couple of days so I wanted to get it done before I rub out the body. Here's where I started: Once the water bottle was painted I pulled the tape inside the doghouse, taped off the water bottle and added another piece of tape over the openings in the front valance panel: After painting the black, I pulled the tape and voila!
  8. Thanks, Joe and Chuck! I appreciate your comments! I finished the motor bike so here are the photos. I painted red, black and aluminum. The assembly was very fiddly but its together. Thanks for looking! ?
  9. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! ?
  10. Thanks, Jeremy! I appreciate your comment! I re-painted the top today along with all the other pieces. I had to repaint the top twice. the first time the blemishes didn't go away. So I sanded out the top with some wet 400 grit sandpaper which, of course burned the metallic a bit. So I then repainted a second time and clear coated. I'll rub it out in the morning and see how I fared. Still a couple of small divits in the paint but I hope to minimize their appearance. Thanks for looking! ?
  11. This MPC kit is done. Paint is Dupli-Color Dark Toreador Metallic (DTM) and Tamiya Gloss Aluminum on the exterior and Krylon Satin Almond, Brown Boots carpeting, and DTM on the dash. Its built box stock except for the shifter and turn signal lever that I added to the steering column and mirror foil added to the outside mirrors since no chrome face was included in the kit. No interior mirror was included and I didn't have one to add. It built up OK for an MPC kit. Thanks for looking!
  12. Thanks, Carl and Charles! I appreciate your comments! Painted the body today and got a few other parts in primer. I thought the paint looked good but when I brought it in under the light I discovered that a few pieces of trash had landed on the top. I've sanded it out and I'll have to touch up the top tomorrow but the hood and the rest look good. Two coats of Tamiya Light Blue Metallic over a base coat of Tamiya aluminum. It should rub out fine and I hope the top will touch-up alright. Interior will be black. Thanks for looking! ?
  13. This one is done! I may enter it in the IPMS contest in Figures in April, just for fun! Thanks for looking!
  14. Looks good, David! Nice work! Its fun doing something other than vehicles every now and again. ??
  15. Thanks, Joe, Steve and Bob! I appreciate your comments! Finished the painting today and have a few more pieces int place. The transistor radio is finished, a bottle of Teem, and the long board are finished. I need to finish the purse, sandals, and sea gull and this one will be done! Thanks for looking! ?
  16. Thanks, David and Csaba! I appreciate your comments! David, I don't think I need the information but its always nice to have those kind of books that were written more contemporaneously. The internet is not a good place to find actual, historical information. I may be able to get started with painting tomorrow. I painted the hood for the El Camino today that I want to finish before I move on to the 67 Camaro.
  17. Me too. I am aware of the "Custom Trim" package that both Revell and AMT have chosen to replicate. Tim Boyd did a review of the Revell kit several years ago and described it. But I just don't know why both companies would want to produce a model that is so unusual that I can't even find one on the internet. I even looked up production numbers for 1967 Camaros and find that even GM doesn't know how many Camaros they produced in total. Numbers range from 195,000 to 220,000. Never mind trying to find "Custom Trim" packages. And the execution of the "Custom Trim" package on both kits have the plastic lump on top of the indent. It would have been better with a separately molded chrome piece with round trim on top and bottom inside the indent. Or they could have just reproduced the most common trim like I have tried to do. Still not sure about the back window and if it is flat enough. But if I remove it it will be really hard to round the corners of a flat trim piece. So I'll leave it alone. Thanks for looking and thanks for your comment! Keeps me thinking and at my age that's a good thing! ?
  18. Its been raining for the last six days so I can't really do any painting. So I thought I would put this one together. I did spray the base and the base color on the body and quickly ran it inside and put it in the garage to dry. The rest of it has been brush painted. The alligator clip attached to sprue is clipped to the arm and leans up against my mag light to keep it upright. My wife found the eyelashes on clearance for $1.60. Still have a few parts to paint and I'm hoping for a better weather day tomorrow. Thanks for looking!
  19. Thanks, All! Still waiting for the weather to finish. I also want to put together the motor bike but will wait on the weather.?
  20. Thanks, David! I appreciate your comment! But there must have been no survivors for the Camaro with the trim on top of the indent of the rocker panel. Maybe they were trying to replicate the full trim chrome panel with the little curl at the top that looks like this: But I think they missed the boat as the curl is under the edge not on top of it. The other trim looks like this. I used a .030 rod to simulate the latter and it looks a little big but its what I have.
  21. Thanks, Joe, Greg and David! I appreciate your comments! Greg, I am not sure what paint I used since its been so long ago. I can't find my build sheet so its probably lost. I know it not an enamel or it would have already yellowed by now and I rarely use enamel. Neither Testors or Tamiya make a good white in my opinion, so I probably used Krylon. When I paint white I usually use Krylon Flat White as a base with or without a primer, then Satin White followed by a couple of coats of Krylon Clear Lacquer. With the 48 hour rule for Krylon, I usually paint the flat, wait 20 minutes for it to flash dry, then satin white for a smoother finish, wait 20 minutes, then two coats of Krylon clear about 15 minutes apart. Wait 24 hours and then rub out. Thats probably what I did. I don't like to use the Krylon Gloss as it runs too easily.
  22. This is the AMT kit that I purchased the other day. I have built the Revell kit and have another in the closet but wanted to see how the AMT compares. Both have what I can only describe as a long lump of plastic that runs the length of each side at the bottom. So I first eliminated that and may add plastic rod at the bottom of the rocker panel for stainless trim. I also got rid of the plastic on the top of the door and rear window. I also had to do the same to the interior to follow the profile of the door and rear window. I noticed that the interior wasn't tight in the body (too much space between the body and the interior) so I added two pieces of plastic strip to each side of the interior to tighten up the fit into the body. The rear window trim looks flat enough so I left it alone and added panel lines to the tulip between the corner of the rear window and the trunk line. Finally, I glued on the front and rear valance panel as I can still fit the chassis into place with both glued in. This way I can avoid glue problems after paint. I think they are glued in cleanly and I can see if there are any issues once I get some primer on it. The hood fits well and I will sand down the sides to account for paint. It should be ready for paint once it is washed. Thanks for looking! ?
  23. Thanks, again, All! I appreciate your comments!
  24. This one is done except for re-painting the hood. raining today and maybe the rest of the week so I don't know when I will get the hood done. I added some evergreen strip to the front side of the underhood to keep the hood level. In addition, I added a stick shift from the parts box and made a turn signal lever. I also added mirror foil to the outside mirrors since there was no chrome faces for the mirrors in the kit. The kit also exclude an interior mirror. I let that go as I don't have any extra at the moment. I guess I'll spend the week prepping some kits for paint later. Thanks for looking!
  25. Mocking up this build after assembling the engine and chassis. Still have to finish the interior. I also put the hood in the oven cleaner as I didn't like the way it looked and I may leave off the hood scoop on the next iteration. Here are a few photos, Thanks for looking! ?
