  1. Its on wheels! The radiator brace or top was a little troublesome but I unglued it from the inner sides of the body and glued it to the top of the radiator support and that pushed it down so the hood would close in the front. Front and rear hardware, door handles and mirrors, and decals and this one will be done! Thanks for looking! ?
  2. Thanks, Marc and Bob! I appreciate your comments! The interior is done. I used all the kit decals, including the seat belts. I am not quite sold on seat belt decals but since it is hardtop the detail will be hard to see. Thanks for looking! ?
  3. I got a chance to touch up the body. The two small fins coming off the back of the B pillar and the trunk lip were exposed while rubbing out the body. I was able respray the trunk and touch up the small fins with a brush. I have rubbed it out again around the back. My next Chevelle will be the Olds version, the 1971 Olds 442 W-30. The body is newly tooled, as I understand it, and it looks like a great kit. I watched an hour video on by the HPI guys on Model roundup and was surprised by the difference in approach from what I do. But it worked out very well and I may adopt some of those processes, like completely assembling the front and rear suspensions and painting them as one unit and adding other paint detail with a brush. But I think I'll steer away from painting a body with Krylon. I have done it a time or two but wasn't really pleased with the result. I have painted this one with Dupli-Color Dark Toreador Metallic to approximate a stock color called Sienna. I think I'll do the interior in a brownish leather color. Gonna rain tomorrow. I have plenty to do! Thanks for looking! ?
  4. Thanks, Bob and Alan! I appreciate your comments! This one is done, not very well but it is done. Finally was able to re-paint the hood. Added the kit decals and that's all folks!
  5. Thanks Pierre and James! I appreciate your comments! Sorry for the blurry photos but the engine is done. I added the short hose on the front of the engine, the breather hoses, and fuel line with glass bowl filter, in addition to the plug and coil wires. I'll add heater hoses when installed. Thanks for looking! ?
  6. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! I'm finishing a Datsun truck but will be back to this one soon. Thanks for looking!
  7. After building a couple of less than stellar kits, I thought I needed some relief. So I went to one of my favorites, this Revell 69 Chevelle SS 396. I built it last year in Daytona Yellow with a tan interior (see photos below). This time I am painting it Dupli-Color Bright Aqua metallic. Its not exactly Glacier Blue metallic but its close just a little darker. White and blue interior. I've painted everything before the weather turned wet and cold so I should be able to work on it for the next few days. Rubbed it out today and finished the foil on the body. Here are a few photos. Thanks for looking! ?
  8. My intention on building this one, other than getting it out of my closet, was to find a new primer that I can use. The primer I was using was Brite Touch. It was a inexpensive primer that sold for under $5 for a 10 oz. can before inflation at O'Reilly and Advance auto parts. It last sold for $9.99 a can. I bought the last 6 cans from Advance that they had in stock at the warehouse and I an down to 1 can left. It was made by Sherwin Williams and is no longer being manufactured. So I tried a new brand called NOW at O'Reilly but it left little bumps on the surface. Maybe I got a bad can so I may try another but for this build I was trying Rustoleum Primer. It really is too thick, takes too long to dry and is too dark in color for my liking. So on this one I thought I would just clear it trying to emulate the new car colors of today's cars that are what a I call shiny dull colors. After multiple trips through the Oven Cleaner I have this one to the point that I think I accomplished the shiny dull look and frankly, its still not great but I am tired of messing with it. Some just don't work out. So here are a few photos in progress. The hood is in the Oven Cleaner again. Maybe I'll finish it tomorrow. its supposed to rain for the next couple of days. I have another build in the works with the body painted so I can finish this one and rub out the other one in the next couple of days. Thanks for looking!

  10. Looks like a fun build with that 409 in it! Nice work! ??
  11. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! ?
  12. Thanks, Jeremy and Dwayne! I opened a new tab and that worked. I haven't ever had that problem before on this site but I do now. Another mystery of the universe!
  13. I hate to post this right after Mark Jones' Lola T70 but here it is. This Monogram kit may be one of the worst kits I've ever built. The paint and foil came out fine but that's probably where it ends. I got it together as quickly as I could because I didn't want to spend a lot of time trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. is Mark may have taken 40 months on the Lola, I took about 4 days on this one. Built box stock except that I didn't use the too small steering wheel and I also left off the hood bird and Chevy badge. Here it is. Thanks for looking!
  14. Beautiful build, Mark! Just in time for the last GSL. Best of luck! ??
  15. I can't advance to page 2 on any thread. It this a problem with the site or is it a problem with my computer? I haven't had this problem before. John Rossio
  16. Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your comments! I wish my photos were crisper but I'll solve it sooner or later. ?
  17. Thanks, Jim and Jeremy! I appreciate your comments! ?
  18. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! Jim, I did think about pinning the spoiler. I marked the trunk lid with small dots using spoiler turned upside down to line up with the holes in the spoiler for the supports. I glued the supports onto the spoiler and then put it on the trunk lid. It stood perfectly on the dots, so I simply put a dab of super glue on the dots and then sat the spoiler supports on it and let it dry. I did pin the mirrors. They were just an accident waiting to happen. The bottom of the mirror support was rounded to fit the body crease right there on the top of the door. I didn't like that and knew that the mirror would fall right off, so I flattened the rounded bottom of the mirror support, drilled a hole and stuck a pin in it. I drilled a hole in the crease on top of both doors. Then it was a piece of cake mounting the mirror with a dab of super glue. I was even able to bend the pin to make the mirror stand upright once in place. Thanks for looking!
  19. Nice looking build, Mario! I like how you built a scene for it. Nice work! ??
  20. Everything is looking good, Jim! Those keystones look better than most. Good luck with the re-paint! ??
  21. Still looks good, Ken! Nice work. ??
  22. This one is done. Paint is Tamiya Light Green Pearl with a black interior. Plug and coil wires. Tires and spoked wheel backs are from the parts box. Thanks for looking! ?
  23. Thanks, Jim and Bill! I appreciate your comments! This one is done and in my copy paper showroom. Thanks for looking! ?
  24. Thanks, Jim! I appreciate your comment! I have a 2015 Dodge Challenger. One of the reasons I bought it was the beautiful B5 Blue Pearl paint. Still looks good today and its eight years old. Every time I see a newer Challenger in battleship gray I get a little nauseous. The Mustang's battery is in the trunk. And the body style, paint color and wheels sorta makes it look like Mustangs of today. This one will be done soon!
  25. Thanks, Jim! I appreciate your comment! I always do mine with an acrylic black so that I can clean up as I go. I also buy it in the big 16 oz. bottle so I can just refill my small bottle. Finished the engine bay except for the fan decal. Then I stopped to get another body painted (see below). Anyway, I almost missed the water bottle in the left corner as it is not to scale it seems to me. The coil mounted on the head was also out of scale so I replaced it. Everything went together fine so here it is: I'm trying new primers since Brite Touch is gone and I tried Rustoleum American Accents. Its too dark it seems to me. I thought since I already have this 75 Nissan truck painted with it I would just go ahead and clear it and call it the new car colors that are coming out in dreadful drab colors. Here it is:
