Ford LNT 8000 Mixer
guitarsam326 replied to guitarsam326's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Scratch built, I can't remember what size stock I used, seems like it was.100x.040? Then I drilled holes to run brass wire through for the pins. -

they weren't that hard to do, but holy cow were they ever tedious! I built those things probably 50 times between the four sets. And a little confession, somewhere between construction and paint even after reassembly to check the fit, the doors don't shut fully!!! But I will display it with doors open anyway so maybe next time.....scratch that I HIGHLY doubt that I'll open the doors on another L series. -
What do you Drive?
guitarsam326 replied to guitarsam326's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
same here Clayton, doomed from the start is right! Grandpa drove for ABF for 30+ years and several fallen companies before. Dad drove since he was 18 and he's still driving, then there's countless uncles and cousins on both sides of my parents family who drive, so why not me right? -

Awesome guys, it's funny to see that peterbilt still uses that funky clutch pedal, our 86 359 is the same way! Jeff, I always liked the t800's, and every time I have a choice, I pic our over any other truck. -

Thanks a lot guys! Clayton, it was supposed to be mud, but it turned out kinda light and the camera made it worse, but you live and learn! Jesse, this is the most detailed truck I've built yet, and my first time doing extensive scratch building, and I'm hooked, I can't wait to start my next one! -

Here's some shots of my finished LNT 8000 mixer. its a combination of the Ford LN 8000 race hauler and the Paystar 5000 mixer with a resin 6v92T Detroit as well as resin wheels from AITM and some scratch built parts. excuse the mess as I took these pictures on the workbench because the lighting is better, well enough gabbing, here it is.

I'm not sure if there's a topic on this forum like this already, but if there is just point me in the right direction. I thought it would be cool if all the "drivers" out there could post pictures of the big rigs they drive, you never know we might run into each other some time. I mostly stay in NC and VA but hey, who knows right? anyways, ill start off, I drive an array of different trucks for my company so here goes!

thanks for the info, but I didn't word my question correctly, what I meant to say was how do you create a logo from scratch? I don't have a business card or anything, im going to make up a ficticious company, thanks for the info anyways.

Has anyone created their own decals from scratch? what i'm trying to do is make my own company logo for my trucks. thanks again for the help fellas!

I know this topic has been talked to death, and I have searched the forum for an answer, and i'm halfway satisfied, but not totally, I want to know what the best program is for resizing images found on the ol web that will produce the best resized image, that is the most crisp image. I have used paint and micrsoft office and the results were very grainy? I read a couple posts about decal making and I downloaded inscape but apparently you cant print the image or even copy it to another file, or maybe i'm not using it correctly. anyways, any help would be much appreciated.....oh, one more thing what are you guys using to make/draw up your own custom decals? once again thanks for your help in advance!

Well I managed to slip one under the glass (well 99% anyways) to make a total of three this year. The only thing the Ford mixer is missing is a custom set of decals that I haven't perfected yet along with some minor weathering, but it's close enough for now, without further yapping, here's the Three Amigos for this year.
