  1. Well I just finished this one up today. This is my second truck build ever...the first one being my 1950 Chevrolet 3100 pickup I finished about a month ago. It's a refreshing change from all of the cars I have built over the years. This is the AMT kit painted in Testor's "Gloss White" enamel with no clear glosscoat over it. I couldn't believe how shiny and smooth this enamel paint came out. It took about two weeks to dry enough to handle it without leaving marks on it though. I guess the downside of using enamel paint versus lacquer paint. The red trim paint around the front, back and side windows was a bit tricky since there was very little room to paint and apply BMF without covering up the red. As far as I know the Cameo pickups had a two-tone red/white interior but there was not enough detail in the interior to paint it that way so I went with a solid red interior to reduce the cuss rate! Anyway, here it is, have a look and see what you think and thanks for checking it out.
  2. Thanks Ray.
  3. Thanks, Harry, Jacen, Alan and Bill for the kind words.

    1951 Chevy

Great looking '51 Chevy Bruce. The colour suits it perfectly!
  5. Thanks Jason and Bruce. Jason.....I don't have pics side by side yet but I can go separate pics above and below.
  6. Thanks guys for the great comments on a not-so-easy build. I guess when I see it finished now I'm thinking it was worth the cussing it took to complete it! Bruce....the tires I used were the AMT package of eight that are relatively new. A little pricey but they look good.
  7. Three more pics.
  8. I built this kit because my Dad had a 1949 Chevrolet that I remember well as a kid and I wanted to recreate some old memories so the best thing to do was to start with the AMT 1951 Chevrolet which was almost identical to the 1949. My Dad's car was painted in "Seafoam Green" but I didn't have that colour so I went with Tamiya "Coral Blue" which looks turquoise. I must say that this was not a very good kit to build. Several fit issues were the main concerns and I had to completely modify the entire front bumper assembly just for it to look right. I spent one whole night just trying to square up the engine compartment just to name a few of the problems. Anyway I finally finished the kit up and I am glad to say it is now off my bench! The kit is far from perfect but it is as best as I can get it. Have a look and see what you think and thanks for checking it out.
  9. Thanks Bill.
  10. Very nice work. You must still have the touch even after twenty years!
  11. Thanks Dave!
  12. Very nice work indeed Bruno. It's nice to see one of these. Wish Revell would come out with this kit or a Dodge Demon.
  13. Thanks JT
  14. Great looking '60 Ford. I did one in almost the same colour except mine has a white roof. Once again...very nice job!
  15. Thanks Lee and Greg for the fine comments on this build...really appreciate it.
  16. Thanks guys! I prefer the '68, '69 and '70 Chargers but it doesn't seem right not having a '67 in the mix. Sure wished I still had my '70 Charger though!
  17. A few more pics
  18. This was another one of my almost completed builds when I lost interest and put it back on the shelf until last week when I decided to get it finished. This was one of Revell finer kits they have produced being more accurate to the 1:1 car and very nice fitting parts which translates into less cussing while building . Painted in MCW factory colour "Bright Blue Metallic" with a coat of the "wet look" gloss coat. Thanks for checking her out and all comments are welcomed good or bad.
  19. I think that is the attitude of a better modeler. Sooner or later you will get it Steven. Good luck with it. Thanks Ron and Danno!
  20. Thanks guys for all of the great comments on the truck! Steven...I just used a fine paint brush, magnifying glass and I made sure I didn't drink too much coffee prior to painting to reduce the shakes!
  21. I have been building model cars for almost fifty years and this is the first truck I have ever done. I figured it would be something different for a change....kind of refreshing so to speak. Anyway, I picked this truck up on sale at Hobby Lobby the last time I was in the U.S. I was impressed at how well it fit together. I had seen other completed models of this truck and the builders all complained about it sitting up too high front and back. I didn't have to modify the back but I did make some adjustments to the front suspension to bring the front end down a bit to a more realistic height and center the front wheels within the wheelwells which was also an issue with this kit. Here are the finished pics. Please check them out see what you think and thanks for taking the time to view them.
  22. Thanks Michael
  23. Great looking Pinto Carl....fantastic looking exterior paint job!
  24. Thanks Jim. I've always liked doing stock builds....in fact that is all I have in my collection!
