  1. . Thanks Luke. As soon as we get through all of the rain here I'm going to shoot the two together and post them.
  2. Thanks everyone for the great comments.
  3. Absolutely stunning work! What else can I say!
  4. Thanks guys! Andre I should have taken a pic with the '57 Ford Custom beside it and posted it. Have to catch it the next time I get the camera out.
  5. Thanks guys for all of the great comments. Well another build completed. I finished this one off this afternoon. Here she is painted in factory colour Tropical Turquoise with the standard gray and black interior sporting the 283ci 283hp fulie. Have a look and see what you think and thanks for following this topic.
  6. I know the sky is the limit when it comes to detailing but I'll just settle for the valve stem detail!
  7. Tom on this forum had suggested to me to use some black engine wire to simulate valve stems and I must say it was a brilliant idea. Have a look.
  8. Thanks Carl and Brett. Brett the scripts on the valve covers were kit decals but I wished now I had painted them instead. The decals didn't line up very well with the raised lettering.
  9. Thanks Tom and Danno. Tom...that is a great idea for the valve stems. I would have never thought of that. I shall give it a try. Thanks for the tip.
  10. Thanks Mike and Bill. Mike you are right, most '57 chevy builds are usually bel airs. I have seen a few of these 150's on the forums but not many.
  11. Thanks Dave, John and Charlie.
  12. Okay...engine is finished and ready to be installed into the chassis.
  13. Looks like an interesting project Tom. Thanks guys for the fine comments so far. Well after looking through my reference pics I have noticed that the hubcaps were in need of a blackwash treatment. Not sure how I missed this the first time. Here are the pics with the blackwash applied to the hubcaps. Engine pics to follow later today.
  14. Thanks Tom. I can say I have never seen a 1:1 without the backseat. Actually I'm not sure if I have ever seen a 150...most of the ones you see are Bel Airs! Anyway, I finally got back to the bench and got the BMF on the body. I don't mind foiling these entry-level vehicles...only took me about an hour to do this one!
  15. Looks like you have a great project going on here Ron. Good luck with it!
  16. The headlight bezels have had the black accents painted on them and the grille has had the blackwash applied. I swapped out the generic kit tires for some Firestone blackwalls.
  17. Well I finally got some progress to show on this build. Interior is now finished and I thought I would show a better pic of the body painted. This pic shows a better example of the colour Tropical Turquoise.
  18. That's the way the 150 looks....unlike the Bel Air with the wedge shape aluminum insert on the rear quarter panels.
  19. Thanks Charlie...glad you like my builds!
  20. Thanks guys...I'm looking forward to this build. Tony...I have had great luck with enamel paints, you just have to be a little more careful when applying. Tim......I didn't realize this paint was enamel until I looked at the pic that I had posted of the can. I had already painted the model thinking it was lacquer. I have used this colour before but it was lacquer not enamel so I assumed this was the same. Oh well, I applied it like it was lacquer and it turned okay.......I guess I didn't need to primer it first.
  21. After building my recently posted 1957 Ford Custom Tudor I have decided to go with another entry-level vehicle. This time I am going with the Revell 1957 Chevrolet 150 Utility Sedan. This will be one of those "no frills, maximum bang for the buck" vehicles. This build will sport the 283 Fuelie with blackwall tires and dog dish hubcaps....nothing fancy...bland but with performance or if you prefer, a sleeper! As with my '57 Ford this also will be one colour..no two-tone. I have already painted this one in Model Master factory colour "Tropical Turquoise" and it will have the standard gray interior. Stay tuned for more progress.
