  1. Thanks Erik and Wayne. Wayne...to tell you the truth I never gave that another thought. It's noticeable the way the light is hitting it. Under normal lighting it blends right into the black floor.
  2. Very nice indeed! Dash looks great!
  3. Thanks Danno and Ron. Well I applied the BMF last night. Not too much foiling to do on these entry-level vehicles because of the lack of chrome trim.
  4. Thanks Sam and Ron. Not knowing that a "Thunderbird Special" decal was included in the kit for the optional Thunderbird engine I went and built this originally with the chrome valve covers. Well this morning I tore the engine apart for the second time and painted the valve covers black and applied the Thunderbird decal.....hopefully this will be the last time this engine comes apart! I'm using this website for great reference material for those building or about to build this kit. Check it out here http://www.1957ford.com/history/index.html Anyway....here are the updated engine pics. Thanks for checking them out. Maybe later today I can BMF the body. 1:1 engine with the Thunderbird engine option.
  5. Got some more work done tonight. Chassis is shaping up.
  6. Thanks Sam....you won't be disappointed with your kit.......seems like Revell got it right on this one. Well after looking at my reference pics I realized that I had the valve covers upside down. I carefully removed them and installed them correctly. I hate when this happens because everything I had glued fell off except for the item I wanted to remove! After gluing everything back on I re-shot the pics. 1:1 vehicle with chrome valve covers
  7. Thanks guys. Tim this is a nice kit, Revell has given this kit some nice details. Well engine is now finished and waiting to go into the chassis which I will do after I post these two pics. 312ci 245hp Thunderbird engine
  8. Thanks guys......engine pics will be next.
  9. Good to see you got started on yours Ron. Are you doing yours in Wimbledon White and Black? Are you using the blackwalls included in the kit or going with whitewalls....either way it should look good. Good luck.
  10. Thanks Gary. I was considering doing a two-tone paint scheme on this kit but when looking back on all of my '50's cars in my collection most are upscale models and two-tone paint schemes so I thought I would do something a little more austere this time but using the blackwall tires would be too austere for me so that's why I decided to use the wide whitewall tires. That way I have an entry level version of this car but not too plain either.
  11. Thanks guys. Yes, the gray trim on the seats and door panels are decals that were included in the kit. I think they give the interior a nice touch of realism.
  12. Two updated pics Interior has had a coat of semi-gloss clear applied to it to tone down the shine and make it look more like vinyl. BMF has been applied on the door handles.
  13. I just started this new release from Revell which looks to be a pretty good kit so far. I painted the body in Testors "Light Blue" which is a good match to the factory colour "Starmist Blue". Interior is going to be Testors "Dark Blue" with the light gray door panel and seat trim decals. Since I am not too fussy on a real austere look I have deciced to swap out the blackwall tires that are included in this kit for the aftermarket AMT Firestone Champion wide whitewall tires. I checked with the 1957 Ford sales brochure and they show this particular model of vehicle with wide whitewall tires so I'm assuming they were available at extra cost. Stay tuned for more progress!
  14. Thanks Geoff...I agree. I like them to look new!
  15. Thanks John. Good luck with your stock build!
  16. Thanks Ed. Good luck with yours.
  17. Thanks everyone for all of these great comments. I wasn't sure at first if I liked the way the model turned out. Andre...thanks for the tip regarding the mirrors. I got looking at this closer and they are not sink marks but rather raised circles which I am thinking are suppose to be reflectors. With having said that I have gone ahead and painted them amber.
  18. I just finished my third pickup truck ever. I needed a Ford truck in the mix. I painted this model in Tamiya "Dark Yellow" which really doesn't look yellow with a coat of "wet look" gloss clearcoat. I didn't like the idea of not having chrome bumpers so I applied BMF on front and back bumpers. Stock side mirrors were not included in the kit so I used the ones for the service vehicle option. Engine was painted in Model Master "Ford Engine Red" enamel brush paint. Have a look and thanks for checking her out.
  19. Thanks for that information Bill............now we know!
  20. Thanks Roger.....I wondered the same in regards to the inside of the bed being in red. I guess they figured it matched the red pillars at the back of the roof.
  21. Thanks Dave, Jonathan and Scott for the replies.
  22. Thanks again guys for these great comments.
