  1. Thanks Jonathan. I checked out this site and it looks like he has a lot to offer. Might consider placing an order!
  2. Thanks Gerald and Carl. Gerald......I would like to have the white letter decals but don't where I can get them.
  3. Thanks again everyone! Got the wheels finished up today. It took longer to do these than anticipated. I wanted to paint a thin black line between the inner hub and wheel to show a demarcation line indicating some sort of shadowing. The trouble is there is not a deep enough grove to get a nice black line in there to paint without looking sloppy so I came up with the idea of scribing a deeper line very carefully with my scriber and then using a fine black sharpie to make my line. I touched up the silver and steel parts and narrowed the black line down a bit to make it look more realistic. The inner hub was painted Testors Steel in the small bottle and the outer wheel was painted Testors Aluminum in the small bottle. The area around the lug nuts I also blacked out with flat black brush paint.
  4. Thanks guys for all the great comments and input so far. Some of the input I have received has helped me build a better model so far such as Bill (gtx6970) brought it to my attention that the elastomeric bumpers did not have bolts as the chrome bumper does...I didn't even clue into that. David...to answer your question regarding the paint I used for the tail lights. It was Testors Dark Red #4 brush paint in the small little bottle. Regular white for the back up lights. Gently hold a round toothpick flat to wipe off any excess red, white and black paint that will most likely slop over unto the chrome trim on the bezels. This method works good. Let the paint dry a bit before you rub it off.
  5. I detailed the chrome tail light bezels. They have to be painted black around the perimeter and across through the lenses. Lenses have to be painted red since there is no transparent red lens to glue in. Very tedious but worth it to give it the realism. I used a toothpick to wipe off any excess black and red paint off of the chrome bezels. Since the elastomeric bumpers do not have bumper bolts I sanded them off and repainted the bumper and re-applied the BMF to the bumper guards. Check it out and see what you think.
  6. Thanks Bill.....she looks good!
  7. Thanks for that heads-up Bill. I didn't even clue into that! I have sanded off the bolts and it has been re-painted already.
  8. Okay....I looked through the garbage and found the pins.
  9. Thanks everyone. This is interesting......I think there is a slight preference for the elastomeric bumpers over the chrome ones. We'll see if anyone else jumps in on this .
  10. David....I used BMF for the bumper guards. Works well.
  11. I checked my kit and I do not have any pins either. I'm assuming they are suppose to be metal pins since there is no part number listed on the instruction sheet.
  12. Thought I would show the front and back of the car with both bumpers (chrome and elastomeric) I will be going with the elastomeric on this kit since they were available on both the front and back together effective January 5 1970. I'm thinking of doing another one of these kits down the road in Tor-Red (Plymouth) code V2 Hemi Orange (Dodge) and I will most likely do that kit with the chrome bumpers front and back. Have a look and see which one you think looks better....or should I say aggressive! Chrome Bumper Elastomeric Bumper Chrome Bumper Elastomeric Bumper
  13. Thanks everyone for the kind words. Tim I used a very fine paint brush and some Tamiya acrylic red brush paint. The red line was painted free hand. I just made sure I didn't drink too much coffee prior to painting!
  14. Thanks Charlie, Stephan and Ron. I have been messing with the grille all day and finally got it finished. It took a steady hand to paint the red line in the center of the grille. Hard to believe you can spend a whole day on such a small part. Tomorrow I will install the front elastomeric bumper since it needs another day to dry. Also I put another coat of semi-gloss black on the rear cove to darken it up a bit. Decided to hand paint the script " 'Cuda " on the rear since the decal would not likely show up as well.
  15. Thanks everyone! Here's a shot of the other side.
  16. Glad to see you got started Gerald. What colour are you planning on painting it? Good luck with the build!
  17. Thanks guys for the great comments and for following my topic. Okay I got the BMF on tonight. Thought it would take two days to apply but things went smoother than normal so I was able to finish it in one day. Have a look and see what you think and thanks for your input on this topic so far.
  18. Thanks Charlie! I wasn't sure if I would capture the '70's vinyl look with the paint that I used. Turned out better than anticipated!
  19. Okay...I got the interior finished. I like the woodgrain applique decal Revell included in the kit for the instrument panel and the console. Makes it look much neater than painting it.
  20. Tim...thanks for clearing up some of these questions for me since my knowledge is very limited.
  21. Ron. January 5 1970 Plymouth introduced eight more colors to the rear elastomeric bumpers on 1970 'Cuda's. Check out the link below. http://www.cuda-chal...ic=16748.5;wap2
  22. Okay...another update. Since I will be going with the elastomeric bumpers front and back I have decided to cut off the license plate on the front bumper for a cleaner look.
  23. David..I have found information that body coloured elastomeric back bumpers were available in all nine colours effective Jan 5 1970 which includes Lime Light. Check out the link below. http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=16748.5;wap2
  24. Thanks Joseph. I used Tamiya orange brush paint with some Tamiya red added to it to match hemi orange as close as I could get it.
