  1. Two more pics Before After
  2. Just have three mopars to do after this one and my mopar upgrade will be complete. This was a very simple upgrade as well except I didn't realize how BMF was required to do this one until after I got started. I'm amazed at how much brightwork adorned the '69 Barracuda's. I swapped out the BF Goodrich TA radials for a narrower blackwall tire. I had to use a spacer on the front wheels to bring the wheel out a little farther...back wheels were okay. Polished it out a reshot some photos. Before After
  3. Thanks Bob.
  4. Thanks Felix and Peter.
  5. Thanks guys for all of the great comments. As I said previously, the model in actuality is a lighter shade of yellow. Looks quite bright in the posted pics. For some reason Daytona Yellow comes out looking like a deeper bright yellow when shot with very white surroundings.
  6. Thanks guys for the great comments! I doing all my mopars first then I will do the chevys and fords.
  7. Okay...this is more of a refresh or upgrade than a restoration. Very simple refresh by adding BMF and some white lettered tire decals and a light polishing. Colour is Daytona Yellow which is coming out too bright of yellow against the snow...should be more pale in colour. This looks like a taxi cab shade of yellow. The before pics were shot under artificial light so they came out lighter. Would have liked to have done this one in factory colour "Sunfire Yellow" but I didn't know about MCW paints until long after this build was completed. Before After Before After
  8. Thanks guys!
  9. Thanks guys! Harry...this is not a die-cast model. This is the Revell 1969 Charger 1/25th scale. I call it a restoration because I'm going through some of my old builds and fixing them up. Some require more extensive restoration...if you will, than others. That includes taking the engine out ( if needed ) and painting it the correct factory colours. All of them will get BMF treatment and a polish. I don't want to get to picky on the term "restoration".....to me fixing them up is a restoration. On this particular model I added white lettered tire decals to the generic Revell tires. Hope this clears some of the confusion up.
  10. Three more pics. Before After
  11. Well this is the fourth restoration in a series that I will be doing. I am very pleased with this restoration and feel that this is the most dramatic change of the previous three. BMF was applied over the silver trim paint and white lettered tire decals added courtesy of Fireball Modelworks. Have a look and see what you think. Before After
  12. Thanks Carl and Drew.
  13. Thanks everyone!
  14. No Problem. I use epoxy glue to glue each wheel.
  15. Thanks everyone. Gerald I don't have a pic of the engine on this one.
  16. Thanks Joseph, Duane and Bill. Joseph......lowering the stance is very easy. Take all of the wheels off, trim the metal pin off and re-glue the wheels back on. I use a makeshift jig and level the model out on a flat board and glue one wheel on at a time centering the wheel within the wheel well. Also this step will allow you to lower or raise the model depending where you glue the wheel. There is generally enough surface area on the chassis to glue the wheel in a more accurate postion. Sounds confusing but it's hard to try to explain this in writing.

  18. I decided to change the title from "Rebuild" to "Restoration" because I think this would be considered more of a restoration project rather than a rebuild. This is the third restoration in a series I will be doing over the next few months. This was a very easy restoration since all that was required was some BMF over the silver trim paint and a light polishing with Scratch Doctor to bring out the finish that has dulled over the years. Also, she leaned to the passenger side so I levelled it up for a more realistic stance. Please check it out and thanks for your feedback. Before After
  19. Thanks Mike for the info. I was looking at Classic Industries website for replacement grilles for Firebirds. Looks as though the 1968 Firebird 400 had a dark grey grille. The 1967's had a silver grille. Not sure if I will correct this or leave it. http://www.classicindustries.com/firebird/parts/exterior-trim/grill-components/
  20. Mike...I had noticed that all of the reference pics I had seen showed the Firebird 400 with a black grille. But I'm not sure if that is correct since I know little on Firebirds.
  21. I was actually referring to drodg. He started a 'Cuda back a month or so ago and I haven't seen any action on it lately.
  22. Thanks everyone. I think my MPC 1971 Plymouth Road Runner will be next. It will be an easy upgrade since all it needs is some BMF. David....thanks for the kind words. How is your '70 Cuda coming along...have not seen any progress for a while?
  23. Thanks guys. Monty keep in mind this is an old build that I did several years ago. That's how I built them back then..not paying too much attention to these finer details. My builds today are much different. Most likely the decal is too old to accept decal setting solution now.
  24. Thanks guys. I enjoy fixing up the old stuff and bringing them up to todays building standards.
  25. This is the second in a series of rebuilds or upgrades if you prefer that I will be doing over the winter months. This upgrade was a little more extensive than my 1971 Charger R/T rebuild. The model was upgraded with BMF over the silver painted trim. Engine was dismantled in repainted in the proper Pontiac Engine Blue. Also redlines were added to the tires and the model polished a bit to perk up the old finish. The grille was painted in the proper black trim rather than the previous silver. I gave the model a more realistic stance as well. Have a look and see what you think. Before After Engine painted in "Pontiac Engine Blue" Before After
