  1. Looking great Gerald!
  2. Thanks guys! David...I used Testors silver spray paint followed by a good coat of Testors "wet look clear". I did this on my other '70 Cuda build as well. Comes out looking nice.
  3. Got some more work done on the Cuda build. Finished up the engine except for making a alternator bracket which I still have to do. My Mopar tech and friend Dave (Fury3) had noted to me a couple of things that needed to be corrected on my previous Limelight 'Cuda build on the engine if I wanted it to be factory correct. Distributor needed to be painted tan instead of black, silver carbs instead of gold and the oil filter decal was applied incorrectly .....trivial little things but I like things to be correct. So on this build I made sure they were done this time.
  4. Thanks...320 grit sandpaper followed by 1500 grit paper with water does the trick.
  5. Yes I did sand the glue seams on the front seats. Back seats were okay.
  6. Very nice Mike. Great looking colour for a Mustang. Great story line as well. This McNally sure has had a lot of different cars over the years...nice ones I might add!
  7. Just like the 'Cuda scripts on the door panels I used Testors silver paint in the bottle and a very fine paint brush. There is a very fine grove that you paint in on the steering wheel. You will need to hold your breath and whatever you do....don't sneeze! Try avoiding too much coffee one half hour before painting will help....you certainly don't want the shakes for a job like this!
  8. Thanks....just silver paint in the bottle and a very fine paint brush.
  9. Thanks everyone. Jeff.....I did not paint the white parts. The sheen was perfect to replicate the vinyl look so why waste paint or primer.
  10. I've been working on this interior on and off all day and finally finished it. Did some silver trim painting around the guages because I didn't like the way the silver trim on the decals looked. Also painted the 'Cuda script on the doors and the Barracuda script on the dash. I found the decals provided in the kit for this didn't show up too well on my last 'Cuda so painting was the way to go. More to come!
  11. Thanks guys. Gerald...sorry about stealing you colour scheme! It's a great colour combination choice!
  12. Although I have never used Scalefinishes paint I would go with Testors glosscoat. I've use it on several enamel finishes without incident. Model is coming along nice. Great exterior colour and nice job on the interior!
  13. Thanks Curtis....I guess this one will have the Hemi as well. Would like to do a 340 or a 383 but don't have one of those engines or decals to do one.
  14. Thanks I had to use clear glosscoat on this paint job because the Tor-Red dried dull which is what it's suppose to do. I agree with everyone...the white interior should look sharp with this exterior colour.
  15. Thanks guys. The metallic in the paint is messing with the camera. Makes it look like I need another coat of paint when in fact I don't. I'll try to get a better pic.
  16. Well onto round 2. Before the month is out I think there will be plenty of 'Cuda builds on the boards. Since I liked the first one so much I decided to do a second one. This one was a Christmas gift. I'm doing this one in TorRed code V2 (Plymouth) Hemi Orange V2 (Dodge). I'm going with a white interior and chrome bumpers front and back. I managed to get the body painted between snowfalls. Have a look.
  17. Engine looks great David...keep up the great work. I will pass along one tip......you will have to push your ignition wires down as tight to the top of the distributor as you can because you will have to trim a wee bit off the carbs so that the shaker hood sits low enough otherwise your hood won't fit down right on to the body. In order to get the shaker hood down you will have to push the ignition wires down. Just a heads-up.
  18. Thanks again everyone for the great comments and for following my topic. It was a blast building it. Finished it in record time because I'm on vacation for two weeks and with the weather like it has been it has given time to work on it. I think this car will look even better once I get the white lettered tire decals on it......I will post a few pics of that once they arrive and I have them applied. I'm looking forward to starting the 2nd Cuda in Tor-Red. It will have a white interior and sport the chrome bumpers front and back. So watch for that one! Cheers! Randy
  19. Thanks guys for all of the great comments on this topic and all the individual input which helped me build this kit. Tim (funman), thanks for all the information you provided regarding the elastomeric bumpers...it was really appreciated! Roger....I have looked at this model from several angles and compared it to the 1:1 vehicle pics that I have and I cannot really see the difference you mentioned....if there is a difference it's negligible. The front end might of looked stubbier because of the angle, lighting and the way the camera saw that particular picture you commented on. I still think Revell did a excellent job on replicating this one. Now if we could get a decent '70 Dodge Challenger from them that would be great! Different lighting makes a difference I think.
  20. Thanks guys! Well this project is officially declared finished! Got some outdoor pics taken in between flurries. This was an excellent kit from start to finish.........Revell got this one right. I am very pleased with the outcome and thank Revell for producing this very desirable subject. Now I shall take a small rest and then perhaps start my other 1970 'Cuda soon. Thanks for following my topic and please check out the finished pics. Cheers and Happy Building!
  21. Well this 'Cuda is about 99.9% finished. Just waiting for the rocker panel trim to dry and for some nice weather so I can take the final pics outside and post them here. Tire decals won't be here for another three weeks so I will have to post those pics at that time. Thought I would give the viewers a sneak preview now and save the best for later!
