  1. Thanks Ron
  2. Thanks guys!
  3. Thanks guys for the great response on this build! Scott I used Tamiya "Italian Red" in the spray can for the exterior. The interior was done with Model Master "Radome Tan" brush paint followed by a coat of Testors clearcote to give it a semi-gloss leather look. I did not use the decals provided in the kit for the Chrysler scripts on the sides and front but instead painted them by hand using Testors silver brush paint.
  4. Thanks guys I really appreciate the great comments!
  5. Just finished this kit today and thought I would share this latest build of mine. Great kit with easy fitting parts as was the Moebius 1955 Chrysler C-300 kit. No issues to report and for those who have this kit in their stash I'm sure you will find it a pleasure to build. Check out my pics and thanks for looking and commenting.
  6. Thought I would post this topic regarding the Modelhaus resin rear bumper that is available from Modelhaus to correct the grossly inaccurate bumper and tail light assembly that comes with the AMT 1969 Chevelle kit and most likely the newly released convertible of this kit as well. My good friend Fury3 had lead me to this bumper when I told him how I was dissatistified with the way the kit tail lights looked. Well I received the bumper and tail light assembly last week and I am very pleased at how it looked and it was well worth the 4 to 6 week waiting period to have it arrive at my address. It required a few little tweeks to even get it right but was an easy fix. The clear red lenses that come with the bumper were one piece and didn't have the chrome split between the top and the area below that houses the backup light. I used a piece of #101 Evergreen strip styrene and glued this separation between the top and bottom of the one piece lense. A small piece of BMF was then applied to the strip styrene. The next big thing, at least in my case, was dealing with the huge gap around the newly installed Modelhaus tail light bezels. The bezels that come with the kit are oversized and when the new bezels were glued in, which were smaller, left a large gap around both bezels left and right side. I used a small amount of 5 minute epoxy glue very carefully dabbing it into the gap. As it dried and sunk in I applied a little more until it was smooth and flush between the edge of the lense and and the body side. Once dried I touched the glue up with the body coloured paint in my case, Hugger Orange. You have to flow the paint on instead of brushing it so it will dry smooth with no brush streaks. I had to apply some high gloss clear in the same way since the Hugger Orange lacquer dried dull. Below is the before and after pics. Take a look and you be the judge which one looks more realistic. 7. Thanks Peter and Jim. Glad you enjoyed my collection.
  8. Thanks Greg....that's only the good ones. The rest are in boxes awaiting fixing up maybe one day!
  9. Thanks Jim I painted the blackout area on both the '69 Mach 1 and the '70 Torino. I then applied the Keith Marks border or pinstripe around the edge of the blackout area. The '74 Z/28 decals were also Keith Marks decals. Here is Keith's website http://public.fotki.com/mofobow/
  10. I've been working on a new model car website. It's not completed yet and I need to add many more pics. Many of the builds in the muscle car pages have been upgraded with BMF and any inaccuracies have been fixed. All of the builds in these pages have been re-photographed. Check it out when you get a chance. http://public.fotki.com/RandysModelCars/
  11. Thanks again guys!
  12. Thanks everyone once again for the great comments. I hope you guys aren't getting bored with all of these restoration postings. Scott...I agree that the white lettered tires really make the build.....especially the late 60's and early 70's era.
  13. I finished up this restoration this morning. One Mopar left to do. I am pleased with the outcome of these resto's. It's nice to see some of these old builds upgraded. Still have GM and Ford resto's to do. Not sure when I will ever get them all done. This one is the AMT 1970 Dodge Super Bee that was issued several years ago. Painted in Model Master factory colour "Green Go". As usual BMF was applied and I swapped out the narrower tires for some wide BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. Also gave it a polishing with scratch doctor. 14. Thanks fellows. I think I'm getting burned out with all of these resto's. Not sure if I will be doing any more for a while!
  15. Thanks Deb.
  16. Thanks Glen and Danno!
  17. Well this restoration became more of a rebuild since the entire model practically fell apart while trying to apply BMF. I ended up with it in several pieces that needed to be reglued. I had to take body off in order to reglue the side windows that fell out along with both seats and part of the dash and a few other things which allowed me to turn the tires around so that non-lettered side of the tire was out so I could apply the white lettered tire decals. Got it together late last night and polished it out. Took the pics today trying to dodge snowflakes in the air. Check her out and thanks. Before After Before After
  18. Thanks guys....next up is my Revell 1969 Dodge Dart. Been working on that one all day and it's really fighting me. I think that one will be called a rebuild since everything fell apart on it.

  20. Two more mopars after this one and my mopar muscle car restoration will be complete. Basically on this one the car was foiled and polished out and then I painted the white letters on the tires using flat white acrylic brush paint. Before After
  21. Thanks guys....glad you all like the upgrade.
  22. Looks good Walter. I went with the basic "no frills, maximum bang for the buck" look. Steelies and dog dish hub caps. But I do like the look of the applique across the back like you have it.
  23. Thanks guys. Tubbs...the taillights were the Keith Marks decals.
  24. Thanks guys. Next up will be my 1971 Plymouth Duster. I'll start the foiling tonight....hopefully.
