Both your story and the linked story are fun. Both are similar to stories that many of us have. -
I'm sorry, your right. Those are not decals I planned using. In fact I'm not sure were I got the first set of decals I showed above. I actually have a set of correct scale decals, by BarracudaCals, for the "F4U-1 Birdcage Corsairs part 1." And the plane I really want build is F4U-1 Corsair. Bu no. 03821 "White 485" OTU VF-4. Which is interesting, because represent a plane used for training out of NAS Jacksonville, Florida in February of 1945. The flyer that comes with decals claim the plane was painted Glossy Dark Sea Blue. Will Tamiya's Navy Blue be a close match for that or not? Now where and why do I have that other set of decals?

I don't know if the manual I got today will help you very much. It's really only covers Willys MBs and Ford GPWs. I saw very little to nothing in there about a Rokr version. But, I haven't gotten though the entire book yet. By the way, in last two months, I had the privilege of building a Rokr Marble Coaster. It was a lot of fun and turned out beautifully. So, I ordered another wood puzzle kit by another manufacturer. It was okay. But, no where near as nice as the Rokr kit. I hope you enjoy building yours as much as I did mine.

The one Round 2 reissued a few years back. The one from the 70's. Oh, I have aftermarket decals. I'm doing "white 110, VF-84, USS Bunker Hill, April of 1945. Any suggestions on matching the color through a spray can?

Here we go again. Today it's another model. Hellen's 1/43 scale Porsche 928. Another can of paint. Tamiya AS-8, Navy Blue. (For AMT's F4U-1 Corsair, Snake.) And two car books. One, Profile Publications' book on the Ford GT. Published in 1967, before the Mk IV. The other a Brooklands Book, The Complete WW2 Military Jeep Manual. To help with two Jeep kits I'm working.

Hans, did you have any troubles with yours, regarding the height of the rear suspension? I'm getting close to finishing mine. Using the parts in the kit, my rear tires are right up against the top of the wheel wells. This did not come with low rider parts as far as I know? So I'm wondering what I did wrong with mine?

It is cake frosting. You see, my cooking and baking skills are that bad, that I found my frosting made better putty than an eating byproduct. No, in reality it Testors much maligned Contour Putty. "Mastic de decoupe." I've been using the stuff for years with great results.

I know Snake was joking about whether or not I'm building the models I've been purchasing. Here's a little proof. I'm not just showing this to prove I'm building models. But, to also show you an idea of what you have to do if you plan on building ICM/Revell's 1/24 scale Opel Admiral Saloon model. With its multi piece body.

The instructions indicate using their liquid cement. I have some of that. Will that work?

That may not be a bad idea. Now that you mention it. I knew there was a point to buying that paint. But, I'm getting old and forgeting more and more things..... You know, I've got a lot of Model paint. I wonder what I can do with it?

Oh trust me. I'm building too. In fact I'm just about done with my Revell '58 Impala, and Tamiya Kubelwagen Type 82. AMT's 1/32 scale '32 Ford far behind. And the the JoHan '35 Mercedes 500K should be done sometime in the next week. Plus a few others. With all the models in different states of build, it can look a little chaotic around here. But somehow I keep it sorted out, and get quite a bit done. I know I've buying a lot lately. But I've got the money right now. And I've learned over the years to buy when you have the opportunity. For either you will not have the money or kit will be discontinued, and you'll have to pay more for it later. Plus I'm having fun!

Whoops. I made a slight mistake in what I said above. The ICM Packard with Stalin comes with five figures in total. Besides Khrushchev wearing a non-military suit, you also get Molotov in a "civilian" suit also. But, Stalin and the two other figures are wearing military uniforms. Maybe I should have purchased the "Stalin version" of the ICM Packard, when I bought mine. Besides wanting to do a model of Khrushchev pounding his shoe on a desk at the U.N. Being of Finnish decent, I'd like to somehow do a diorama using the character of Molotov in a way that would represent why the Finns gave the Molotov cocktail the name it's had since the Russo-Finnish of Winter War of 1939-40. Stalin and the two other figures could join him in that diorama. (All kidding aside, that's a long ways in the past, and does not reflect my feelings towards the Russian people today.)

Cool. Out of the four figures in the kit, Khrushchev is the most useful one of the bunch. Since he's not in military uniform he can be more easily modified for other uses in my opinion. Though ICM's Khrushchev included in the kit is still not be suited for what I'd want to do with him. I'd want a version of him sitting at a desk pounding his shoe on top of it. ?

Thank you Dan and Snake for the above. ?

That is bad Snake. But, I liked it? ?

Yea. I love them both too. For me I love any air-cooled VeeDub. Some of the water-cooled stuff is okay. But in general make mine air-cooled. The "WWII German Leader's Car." I wonder who they can be talking about there? ? A beautiful car used by such an evil man. I hate man, but love the car. It's the same way with ICM's Packard limousine. They offer it with or without figures of Stalin and few other contemporary Soviet leaders. I bought the one without Stalin and his cronies. I'm sorry I'm not a fan of most dictators. But, it does seem that dictators picked some pretty cool cars to ride around in. Back to air-cooled cars for a moment. Until about 6 months ago I worked a second part time job at local O'Reilly's auto parts store for several years. One of my favorite things to do with the new guys (and one new gal) was to have them try to find me a replacement coolant thermostat for a 1967 Corvair.

In today's mail, I finally got Special Interest Autos, April 1982 issue. It will be a nice addition to my library of automotive history. Thank you Joe for letting me know about it. -
