  1. Today another kit, and some Testors "White Lightning" paint for my Hasegawa '66 Cadillac.
  2. Here are pictures I've been saving of 485 in action, by the way.
  3. Here's another one I love, that I haven't seen mentioned here yet.
  4. The guy in the picture above looks a bit like Elvis too me. This looks like a scene straight out of an old Evis movie. Evis smiling as he wins the race. Gets the girl. And then sings about it. Or both.
  5. I believe somebody had posted this before, and I commented on. But, now I can't find it. Despite the kit, this is still my all time favorite box art.
  6. Thank you for the offer, but it's a bit too early yet. Is the kit even out? And even with proper wheel covers, I'm not in rush on this one. Though I will keep your offer in mind if and when the time comes Lee. Thank you.
  7. Now I like that! ?
  8. Interesting. Looks pretty good. You say it's a snap kit. Any painting done or required with the kit?
  9. Commonly seen by most auto makers at the time. The full size car line is considered the "true" brand name line. This goes for everybody at the time that I can remember, other than AMC.
  10. But, would they look good on a 4-door? The Rallys and 5-spokes maybe "correct." But, neither one is something I'd associate with a 4-door Impala at the time. Good suggestions though.
  11. Nothing here that will be taking my money. The Fairlane in that form, I have no interest in. And other two? The Coke ice chest is neat, but I got an Ohio George version I built several years ago, and I'm pleased with results. And I also have a '63 Ford I built from the Prestige Series from the 1980's. I'm waiting for something real different, like the '64 F-85 we've been hearing about for several years now.
  12. I just can not get excited over this kit. Because from what I've seen it can not be built showroom stock. All it would have taken was to throw in a set of stock wheels or wheel covers, and I'd be all over this kit. I'm sure Round 2 is going to sell a carp load of these kits to fans of the TV show, and guys who modify their cars anyhow. But just by the missing shock wheels/wheel covers will not be seeing me buy this one.
  13. I like what your planning. I'm looking forward to eventually see it.
  14. Both your story and the linked story are fun. Both are similar to stories that many of us have.
  15. I'm sorry, your right. Those are not decals I planned using. In fact I'm not sure were I got the first set of decals I showed above. I actually have a set of correct scale decals, by BarracudaCals, for the "F4U-1 Birdcage Corsairs part 1." And the plane I really want build is F4U-1 Corsair. Bu no. 03821 "White 485" OTU VF-4. Which is interesting, because represent a plane used for training out of NAS Jacksonville, Florida in February of 1945. The flyer that comes with decals claim the plane was painted Glossy Dark Sea Blue. Will Tamiya's Navy Blue be a close match for that or not? Now where and why do I have that other set of decals?
  16. I don't know if the manual I got today will help you very much. It's really only covers Willys MBs and Ford GPWs. I saw very little to nothing in there about a Rokr version. But, I haven't gotten though the entire book yet. By the way, in last two months, I had the privilege of building a Rokr Marble Coaster. It was a lot of fun and turned out beautifully. So, I ordered another wood puzzle kit by another manufacturer. It was okay. But, no where near as nice as the Rokr kit. I hope you enjoy building yours as much as I did mine.
  17. The one Round 2 reissued a few years back. The one from the 70's. Oh, I have aftermarket decals. I'm doing "white 110, VF-84, USS Bunker Hill, April of 1945. Any suggestions on matching the color through a spray can?
  18. Here we go again. Today it's another model. Hellen's 1/43 scale Porsche 928. Another can of paint. Tamiya AS-8, Navy Blue. (For AMT's F4U-1 Corsair, Snake.) And two car books. One, Profile Publications' book on the Ford GT. Published in 1967, before the Mk IV. The other a Brooklands Book, The Complete WW2 Military Jeep Manual. To help with two Jeep kits I'm working.
  19. Hans, did you have any troubles with yours, regarding the height of the rear suspension? I'm getting close to finishing mine. Using the parts in the kit, my rear tires are right up against the top of the wheel wells. This did not come with low rider parts as far as I know? So I'm wondering what I did wrong with mine?
  20. It is cake frosting. You see, my cooking and baking skills are that bad, that I found my frosting made better putty than an eating byproduct. No, in reality it Testors much maligned Contour Putty. "Mastic de decoupe." I've been using the stuff for years with great results.
  21. I know Snake was joking about whether or not I'm building the models I've been purchasing. Here's a little proof. I'm not just showing this to prove I'm building models. But, to also show you an idea of what you have to do if you plan on building ICM/Revell's 1/24 scale Opel Admiral Saloon model. With its multi piece body.
