What non-auto model did you get today?
unclescott58 replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
As much as I love cars. Here are two more non-automotive kits waiting on my front step when I got home from work. Very kool, both of them. -
A telescope turned up in our lost and found box. We don't know who it belongs to, but we're looking it up.

Something I picked up off of eBay. AMT's 1/32 scale Porsche 917-10. (Which maybe a reboxed Airfix kit?) Everything is there, and in perfect shape. I was surprised when I opened the box and saw how nice this kit is. A lot of detail for a 1/32 scale kit. More than I expected. Very cool.

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)

My Dave Bowman action figure showed up on my front step this afternoon. I'm already have troubles with him trying to interact with my old Monolith action figure. -
Here's a die cast kit of a 1970 Buick GSX, I just put together. Part of Testors' "Silver Series Metal Model Kits." A nice looking kit, that looks a little small for claim of 1/24 scale. Nice paint. Nice engine detail. But it was a bit of a disappointment. Too many things were already pre-built. Put together. Only six basic steps required to build it. It was way too easy to build. Took less than 10 minutes. Yet I like the looks of the kit is the end.

Need I.D. of car in photo

The Fury above was based on the same Chrysler M-body shell as the first generation Chrysler LeBarons and all Dodge Diplomats. So they all look fairly similar. But, look at the front end. It matches the LeBaron in Rob Hall's post above, more than the Fury above. There is no question in my mind Mr. Hall is correct. It a Chrysler LeBaron. -
What if Model car Boxart

Mine too. I've got the whole series on DVD. So I know I've seen each episode at least once. -
Went to Scale Model Supplies (a.k.a. the Dungeon) in St. Paul today. Just to pick up some paint. Well we know how that works out. I found something I've never seen before. Testor's 1/24 scale pre-decorated metal '70 Buick GSX kit. The box indicates it came out in 2010. This is the first I've seen or heard of it. Being a big big Buick fan, I couldn't pass it up.

In the TV show Mannix, they updated his '71 Barracuda with '72 parts for that year. I did not know about the Mod Squad Challenger above. I was never a fan of that show. But, I loved Mannix. It's a shame Chrysler drop their ponycar convertibles for '72. I really like the Mod Squad Challenger above, and the Mannix Barracuda below, done for that show. -

How is it to drive with a chain steering wheel? They look like they would be uncomfortable and a little hard to grip under certain circumstances? -

Another space related model in today's mail. Atlantis' repop of Revell's old 1:110 scale Everything Is Go kit. It includes John Glenn's Friendship 7 Mercury capsule. An Atlas rocket booster. And launch facilities. Originally released shortly after Glenn's historic flight, it also includes a copy of a booklet commemorating the event, that came with that first release. Mixed feeling on buying this one. I'm not really all that gung-ho on building it right away. But, I figured now was a good chance to get one. Who knows if it will be available when I do decide I'd like to build it? And I don't? Someone will someday get a chance to buy one from my estate after I croak.
