  1. As noted a few pages back, I recently added an AMT/Matchbox 1/32 scale Porsche 917-10 kit to my collection. A lovely kit. The only thing I was not excited about, is that I'm not a big fan of the Martini Racing livery/sponsorship. Martini is okay. But, I use to have an Aurora AFX HO slot car with RC Cola markings that I really liked the looks of back in the day. That got me thinking. I wonder if anybody makes RC Cola decals for a 1/32 scale Porsche 917-10 kit? A little searching on the web, and I was happy to see that Indycals does. I've never purchased or used any of their decals before this. But, I've heard good things about them. Their service in getting the decals to me was pretty quick. And the decals look great. I'm now looking forward to building George Fuller's RC Cola Porsche 917. I hope the decals are as good as they look.
  2. I love to read. And Stirling Moss has always been one of my favorite race car drivers. It should be a very interesting read.
  3. Something a little different came in today's mail. The first of three 4D Master anatomy models I've recently ordered.
  4. Today? Another airplane. This time Academy's 1/72 scale F-4J Phantom. I've read and seen some very positive reviews on this kit. It's a fairly new tool. And it's part of Academy's MCP (Multi Color Parts) series of kits. Academy's MCP kits are designed in a way that they do not need to be painted. I've build a couple of their MCP kits in the past, including three different scale R.M.S. Titanics, with very satisfactory results. In this kit's case, some smaller details are done through a choice of decals or stickers. I'm looking forward to building this one, and to getting as good of results as the other MCP kits I've built. I also hope Academy continues with this concept. It's nice to build a good looking, yet detailed kit, without painting.
  5. I loved the video. I too have had several cats over the years. Beside cardboard boxes, mine always loved plain old brown paper grocery bags. It would fun to see a big cat's reaction to a paper bag that is just big enough to barely hold it. Besides amusing the house cats in the past with such simple "toys." The cats gave me many hours of amusement watching then have their fun. Because of present circumstances, videos like this are the only I can still enjoy such simple pleasures. Thank you.
  6. Wow! I don't follow modern racing. Sports car or otherwise. No offense to David. Being by Tamiya, the above I'm sure is a very nice kit. But, I'm personally shocked by how ugly the car itself is. This is strictly a matter of personal taste. But, I was shocked seeing this car here for the first time. It's not like the beautiful Ford GT-40s or Porche 917s of 50 years ago. I hope no one takes this comment too personal. Like I said, being Tamiya, I'm sure it's a very nice kit. And if David and others like the looks of the car. That's okay too. To me it looks way too futuristic and way too robotic. I know it's probably a better car than the ones raced 50 years ago. But, it just doesn't look right too me.
  7. Interesting. And very cool. Sorry to say I have no info on the kit. I too am hoping somebody here has some knowledge on the history of the kit.
  8. Here are a couple kits I got today from one of favorite mail order venders, Model Roundup. Between their great online newsletter, and their support of hpiguy's YouTube reviews, I have to throw a little money their way from time-to-time. That, and their great service and selection. Good people to deal with.
  9. A commercial not aid at me. The music was okay. The cars were ugly.
  10. As much as I love cars. Here are two more non-automotive kits waiting on my front step when I got home from work. Very kool, both of them.
  11. A telescope turned up in our lost and found box. We don't know who it belongs to, but we're looking it up.
  12. Something I picked up off of eBay. AMT's 1/32 scale Porsche 917-10. (Which maybe a reboxed Airfix kit?) Everything is there, and in perfect shape. I was surprised when I opened the box and saw how nice this kit is. A lot of detail for a 1/32 scale kit. More than I expected. Very cool.
  13. My Dave Bowman action figure showed up on my front step this afternoon. I'm already have troubles with him trying to interact with my old Monolith action figure.
  14. I like it. You did a great job. Moebuis make two different size B9's. I'm assuming this is the larger of the two? If so, how big is it?
  15. Here's a die cast kit of a 1970 Buick GSX, I just put together. Part of Testors' "Silver Series Metal Model Kits." A nice looking kit, that looks a little small for claim of 1/24 scale. Nice paint. Nice engine detail. But it was a bit of a disappointment. Too many things were already pre-built. Put together. Only six basic steps required to build it. It was way too easy to build. Took less than 10 minutes. Yet I like the looks of the kit is the end.
  16. The Fury above was based on the same Chrysler M-body shell as the first generation Chrysler LeBarons and all Dodge Diplomats. So they all look fairly similar. But, look at the front end. It matches the LeBaron in Rob Hall's post above, more than the Fury above. There is no question in my mind Mr. Hall is correct. It a Chrysler LeBaron.
  17. Mine too. I've got the whole series on DVD. So I know I've seen each episode at least once.
  18. Went to Scale Model Supplies (a.k.a. the Dungeon) in St. Paul today. Just to pick up some paint. Well we know how that works out. I found something I've never seen before. Testor's 1/24 scale pre-decorated metal '70 Buick GSX kit. The box indicates it came out in 2010. This is the first I've seen or heard of it. Being a big big Buick fan, I couldn't pass it up.
  19. In today's mail, a cool Hallmark Christmas ornament. HAL 9000. It both lights up and speaks. Too cool!
  20. I like the foot pedal ☝️to go with your chain steering wheel. ?
  21. In the TV show Mannix, they updated his '71 Barracuda with '72 parts for that year. I did not know about the Mod Squad Challenger above. I was never a fan of that show. But, I loved Mannix. It's a shame Chrysler drop their ponycar convertibles for '72. I really like the Mod Squad Challenger above, and the Mannix Barracuda below, done for that show.
  22. For sure a '77 or '78 Le Baron.
  23. How is it to drive with a chain steering wheel? They look like they would be uncomfortable and a little hard to grip under certain circumstances?
