I second that. Two I'd love to see in 1/24 or 1/25.

What non-auto model did you get today?

Another addition to the collection. And probably the last one for awhile. Time to do more building. Spend my money more on paints to finish projects. And less on adding more projects. -

Your build, a page or two back, was the inspiration for me seeking out this kit. I really like the looks of this plane, and the looks of the kit. The pilot leaves a little be desired. Still I plan on using him. Thanks Snake. You and Ace have gotten me to seek out and add some very cool airplane models to my collection lately. -

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
unclescott58 replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Blu-Ray. Yes! Still love this show. Mainly the first season. Great adventure. The later two mainly on nostalgia. The ones focusing on characters other than Dr. Smith are generally the best. Don't get me wrong, I like Jonathan Harris and his mainly early version of Dr. Smith. But, the stories focusing mainly on Dr. Smith, Will, and the robot together, got a little too silly and childish after awhile. Still I love this series. I was seven years old when this first hit the screens. And I wanted to be Will Robinson so bad. I may cringe as I watch certain episodes. But, in general, I'm looking forward to another great ride. -
I got mine on Saturday. Thanks Tom. I'll be bringing it up at the next MCCM meeting.

What non-auto model did you get today?

A couple of good looking Lindberg airplane kits joined the collection today. First the Gee-Bee Air Racer. Second the Laird-Turner Meteor. Also arriving at the same time a copy of Edward H. Phillips' book Beechcraft Pursuit of Perfection - A History of Beechcraft Airplanes. First impressions after opening the two kits? Wow! They are big. As Ace noted, the Gee-Bee has to be bigger than the 1/32 scale claimed on the box. The Laird-Turner Meteor also looks too big for 1/32. With the quick glance, both kits look pretty nice. No flash. Nice decals. They both look like should be fairly easy builds. I'm particularly impressed that the Bee-Gee comes with wire to do rigging. A nice added bonus I did not expect. In general I'm pleased. They both look like very nice kits. -
Who's been in my house taking pictures? My collection has gotten out of hand. But, I love it.

What non-auto model did you get today?

By the way, I can not find anyplace online, why Mr. Howard named his plane "Mister Mulligan." Does anybody out there know why? -

Guess what? I found a Testors' reissue of Mister Mulligan, complete, for under $15 on eBay. I didn't see it at first because I only searched for models titled "Mister" Mulligan. Later I did a search under "Mr" Mulligan, and I was offered a few more options. The Testors' repop is titled "Mr. Mulligan" on at least one later edition. Under "Mr" Mulligan I found one I liked both the condition and price on. So I plonked down the coin. And hope to have it sometime next week. -

Now I need one of those ☝️ too! Stop it Ace! And no, sorry to say, the Hawk Supermarine S6B I just purchased did not come Mister Mulligan too. Mister Mulligan may be added sometime in the future. At the right price. -

Went and found an original on eBay, and what looks like a complete, Hawk kit. Which of course is same kit as what's in the Testor's box. And your right Snake. It's obviously an old and simple kit of a very cool plane. Still I think it's awful that Ace forces me to do such things. And a British racing plane besides. -

Darn it Ace. Why did you have to go show the above to us? Just one look at the box art tells me I've got to have one now. The box art looks great. But, how are the contents inside the box? -

Ooh! Did I get a nice one in today's mail. Revell's Stearman Aerobatic Biplane. In 1:48 scale. Opening the box, all I can say is Wow! Obviously this is a kit made from a newer die. It's beautiful. The details and layout of the parts look to be very well thought out. Nothing in the instructions looks too tricky. And the decals look great. I've already decided I'm going to build version 2, "Barnstormer Aero Showes." Rather than the version 1, "Air Devils Stunt Wing Walkers." Man, am I impressed just looking at this kit. I can't wait to get this one done. -

I have on order from a seller on eBay a 1/48 Revell Stearman Arobatic. Look at the tracking info on eBay, it should on my porch tomorrow afternoon. -

Okay guys. With all of the discussions above, I went ahead and ordered a Lindberg Gee Bee. The Air Racer version. Not the one with the Coca-Cola decals. At the same time, I decided I need to add Lindberg's Laird-Turner Meteor kit too. Found that one new on eBay with shipping for under $10. Tough to pass up on that one, at that price. And considering the history of Rosco Turner and that particular plane, it should be in my collection. -

The Minicraft 1/48 172 is three boxes below the Bell. Along with Minicraft's Beechcraft' V35, Cessna 150, and Piper Cherokee. -
Tonight, at the MCCM (Model Car Club of Minnesota) I picked up a couple of new kits. Revell's '68 Chevy Chevelle SS 396. And AMT's '60 Chevrolet Custom Fleetside with Go Kart. Then I won the club raffle for an AMT Coca-Cola 1923 Ford Model T Delivery. A pretty good night overall.

Again, what are your thoughts on the Gee Bee? Ace has me close to being talked into buying the Lindberg kit. How hard is it find models of Mr Mulligan or a Ryan STA now days? For that matter, is a Supermarine S6B all that easy to find? -

I'm big fan of Travel Air airplanes in general. And your right, the "Mystery Ship" was a big deal in airplane history as it was. By the way, I opened the box to take a quick look, and the Testor/old Hawk Travel Air Mystery Ship kit looks very good. Even though the box claims the kit to be 1/48 scale, it looks a little small. But then again, the real plane was not all that big. And the pilot included in the kit looks to be correct for 1/48. Ace, if you've been sitting on the fence on this one, I would recommend going for it. It looks like a very nice kit. Also Ace, you've got me ruminating on the Lindberg Gee Bee. The scale being larger than what they claim doesn't bother me a bit. I'm just wondering about the rest of the kit? Is the Testor/Hawk kit a better kit than the Lindberg? Or the other way around? The old Hawk/Testor Gee Bee is supposed to be in one of the common airplane scales of 1/48. Again, scale in this case is not as big of a deal as quality. Which one looks better in the end. From what I can see, the NACA engine cowling looks better on the Lindberg kit. More correct for Gee Bee racing #11. The Hawk model cowling looks more correct for Gee Bee racing #7.
