What non-auto model did you get today?

As I looked farther into the posts here, I guess I did see Ace's posting ☝️before. I must be getting old. Forgetting stuff. Still, it was worth another look. -

Catching up on past posts here that I somehow missed. The video on the Aerotrain, above, is great. I still think that it is a great looking train. I need to go to Green Bay or St. Louis someday to see the real thing. -

As you can see from this post, and others above, I've been on a model airplane buying and building kick recently. By no means am I giving up on cars. I'm still car crazy. In order of transportation loves, it goes: cars, trucks, fictional spacecraft, civilian/personal aircraft, trains, real spacecraft, military planes (mainly fighters), boats and ships, and finally motorcycles. So I buy a few kits of other things from time to time. In the realm of civilian/personal aircraft, I love Beechcraft's designs the best. IMO the three best looking airplanes of all time are Beech's Staggerwing, their V-tail Bonanza, and their Starship. Well, I have an AMT Stagger I'm working on right now. Added and started working on another V-tail Bonanza just this week. The only thing missing? The Starship. As of yesterday that's taken care of. To my collection, I've added an Amodel Beechcraft 2000 Starship, in 1/72 scale. This is the only styrene kit that I have ever seen available of the Starship. It comes from Poland, and it is not cheap. But, looking at reviews on line and what I found in the box I just got. It looks like it's well worth the price. The first thing I liked when I opened the box, is all of the parts come in a ziplock style, resealable bag. In that bag, the clear parts are protected in another smaller ziplock type bag. The kit has over 100 plastic parts, and four small photo etched parts. No flash can be seen on my example. It looks like a very nice high quality kit. Again, well worth the money I paid for it. Amodel makes two different variations of their Starship. The main difference being decals. I had to go for this version because of the decals used on the wingtip/rudder assembly of this particular airplane. They look like Star Trek Starfleet logos. And with my love of Star Trek I had go with it! -
Vintage 1946 Monogram streamliner kit

Great to see more details. I love it. Thanks. -
It's not a SBC. The kit is modeled off of the Studebaker V8.

Today. A 1/48 scale V-tail doctor killer. One of my all time favorite airplanes. And has been so since I was a kid. The V tailed Bonaza has always stood out over the others, in style and grace. It looks fast. And it is fast. Next to Beechcraft's other classics, the Staggerwing and Starship, it is (IMO) the coolest airplane out there. -

Can you say flash? I knew you could. Testor's last modified reissue of IMC's old LearJet kit. I should know better. But, I can't help myself! -
Here's my latest acquisition. A Pyro 1/32 scale '34 Plymouth. Other than the lack of chrome, I like it. I've been picking up and building and few of these old Pyro kits in the last year or two. They are much better kits than I remember them to be. And with my present modeling skills, they look pretty nice when they are done.

Two fun kits. I finished my Leif several years ago. And need to finish my Pilgrim Observer one of these days. I too like a lot of those old obscure kits. Mainly space related. There are more I'd love to see come back. -
Do any of us need to buy more models? With this group of people here? I doubt it. But, in my case, and several others here, you know we're going to do it. It's addicting, fairly harmless, and fun. So go for it Wayne!

Beautiful stuff! I love your thinking on what could be done. And what the box art would look like. A few I have no interest in. But in general I love it. A few of these kits, would get my money if they existed. Thankfully the Pontiac does. Not with your box art of course. But, it's out there, and Moebuis has received money from me for that one. Maybe some of the others, someday?

Well, I no longer need stock sponsons or decals for my Kitech Airwolf helicopter (see above). Instead I bought an unopened original AMT/Ertl Airwolf. Unopen until I got it today. Now I can build a "stock" Bell 222B. And maybe build an Airwolf version from the Kitech kit, or sell it. By the way, below is what I'm hoping to build out of my AMT kit. -
2020 Family Truckster !

I don't belong here anymore. Something's gone wrong. Car lines are being dropped. And trucks are getting uglier by the minute. Sad times. ? -
Me too! Or a '71 or '72 stock Comet. The Power Wagon and/or a stock '71 or '72 Vega would be cool too.

A few I'm interested in. The '60 Chev pickup, '32 Ford sedan delivery, and garage accessory set. The big Eagle also interests me. But, I have neither the money or the room for it.

1/25 AMT '34 Ford Pickup Customizing Kit

I've been waiting for awhile for this one to come back as an AMT kit. Lindberg's box art was enough to keep me away. -

I already have one without the turbine engine. The only way I'll buy another is if the turbine engine included.- 39 replies

Normally the manufacturer, in this case Ford, made the decision of what was produced as a promo model. With where sales were going with the Ford XL vs. their LTD in the late 60's, makes sense to me. It's sad that they didn't offer a '70 XL. But, I understand it. Smart move by AMT to convert their LTD to a Galaxie, when the '70 model year was over. They were on a big push with their new American-Lafrance fire trucks. Converting their LTD into a Galaxie companion police car. And adding fire department equipment to their '70 Impala and new Chevy Van kits. A couple of years back, after the Round 2 reissue of the Galaxie, I bought the parts from Modelhaus to convert one of the kits back to the LTD. Since the roof line in really only correct for the 4-door hardtop, I trimmed away the window frames. No corrections were needed to the interior, since AMT did nothing to it when they converted it to the Galaxie.

Okay, I didn't get this today. Or even very recently. I just got around to opening it up yesterday. The kit is Kitech's clone of AMT's 1/48 Airwolf helicopter kit. It's basically the same kit, maybe from slightly modified tooling of the AMT. Over all it looks pretty good. The only trouble is I'm not interested in building the Airwolf helicopter. I want build the civilian version of Bell 222. The original kit came with a couple extra pieces, of what I believe are called sponsons. In the original instructions AMT referred to them "stock wings" (?). These parts (parts 9, 10, 12 & 13), and a small set of decals were included in the AMT kit so you could built the civilian version of the Bell 222. And they are missing from the Kitech kit. I'm wondering if there is anybody out there who has built the old AMT Airwolf kit in the past, and did not use the civilian "stock wings"/sponsons. May still have them and the decals laying around. And may be willing to sell or do something for trade for those parts, so I can build the civilian Bell 222 I want. By the way, it's not that didn't like Airwolf. I've purchase the first season (and IMO the best) on DVD. It's just that I always thought the plain Bell 222 looked better. -
I like it. But then again, I've always liked corny joke like that.

Mr. Popeko noted the mistake with a response a couple down from my posting you quoted me on.

Thanks for the link to JTalmage's build of this kit. I don't know how missed seeing that one in the past. That maybe the nicest build I've ever seen of that kit. I think painting the trailer the way he did, is the only way one can assemble this kit and make it look good. Trying to finding a glue or cement that's sticky enough to hold the clear parts together during assembly, without damaging or fogging them is all but impossible. So painting the kit, like JTalmage did maybe the only way go.
