  1. Incredible how the right camera angle can just transport you back in time... mike
  2. That's perfectly understandable. Depends on your previous experiences. Fortunately I've never had to leave any negative feedback on any deals and as I'm willing to not hang responsibilty for a lost first class shipping on the sender and take my chances for recourse with system I appreciate those sellers willing to play ball. Maybe your seller has had problems leading him to impose the high rate. Let us know if it was worth it ... Probably won't be seeing any orders from this direction anyways mike
  3. Thanks, Jeff; I do understand that hurry=$. For a hobby, I just can't justify that kind of coin, even for the great stuff you do. Just speaking from the position of not needing anything that badly and having a few hundred first class transactions go well. Sorry to sound like a one note johnny. Hope the kit is worth it mike
  4. Very interested in seeing the justification for that price. You can cross check info on the shipping label with the usps site. mike
  5. If that's the only way he'll ship, he's not really needing our business from north of the line. There's cheaper ways to send stuff here. Stay far away from that global shipping ripoff on eb. mike
  6. Is it just a basic side shot like this you need? mike
  7. That 312 looks like a running engine. Beautiful detail work mike
  8. Seeing the thread with the 4 identical '39 Fords built in different scales reminded me of this pic in the '91 Monogram model catalog Some neat stuff in those old catalogs mike
  9. And from the aftermarket, a resin crew cab and maybe some photo etched Mercury nameplates/letters would be nice, too.. mike
  10. Here's another 1/43 '70 from Brazil. When I get some time to detail it, I'll throw on the torque thrusts from a 1/43 deuce I've got sitting here. The other two are matchbox 1/64, a '79 and a '70 'Texas ride 'em' series from '09. That '79 was first issued in red and white as 'sam's truck' exclusively sold at wm stores. Matchbox '67 Ford trucks... And here's a couple more from Argentina... and a couple of plastic ones from hong kong, roughly 1/32... mike
  11. Sounded to me like the '71 longbox gets the 360/390 and the '69 shortbox gets the six. mike
  12. That excellent exhaust weathering in the first pic almost had me thinking I was looking at the real thing. Beautiful work! mike
  13. Here's another one for inspiration... the original 'megacab' mike
  14. Looking good so far. Another t-top notch on this thread http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74447 mike
  15. Great find. Good thing 'some memories just won't die'... Here's another one of his cars mike
  16. Guess the origins of this one....
  17. Beautiful combination, Chris. Excellent choice of color and wheels; rare when big hoops don't make it look like a clown wagon mike
  18. If you're that desperate for one, there's always gonna be someone there to take your money... Ol' PT has been proven right many times over. mike
  19. The Walton and Franklin trucks share more than the included pets... They also share what are close to the worst representations of Ford engines (300 and 302) in scale
  20. Dug some old trucks out for a few pics tonight... These ones are franklin mint '96 4x4s. Gotta blame this diversion from regularly scheduled programming (plastic kits) on Mr Jessee. Came across his mar 2000 light commercial column discussing these and suddenly decided I needed one(or two) Threw the motormax camper on one to see how much work it needs to match up. The little ones are 1/43 '68 and '70 F100s that have entered the marketplace recently. Unfortunately still no bigger bumps available yet. The big red/white '79 in the background is Mr Sam Walton's weathered truck (just begging to be refreshed with paint, chrome and a nice set of mudders). Many will recognize the liberty diecast '79 that has appeared in everything from Shelby blue to Cornhuskers to Haliburton colors. This one is canadian tire's kick at the can. And here's the Matchbox series... mike
  21. Despite it's faults, it's too bad they're not more available; having the rough pattern would save you some development time... mike
  22. Took the words right out of my mouth Entering the fray in nov '63, I definitely agree with the split window vette for one and a falcon ragtop for the other... mike
  23. Excellent start! You've sure nailed the attitude. That backdrop gives it the feel of a '55 Hot Rod magazine pictorial. Don't forget the mooneyes at the bottom of the cowl mike
  24. Tom's picture shows the box used on the 77-79 trucks and on the 80-86 trucks with a fender change. The flared top ended on the first series of box in 72 and when they reissued the shortbox in 76 (basing it on the wider long flareside box) it still had the flared top but had the taller sides of the 8' flareside. These were flattened for 77. How I found this out was through my purchase of a short 76 f100 frame with the original box still attached. mike
