  1. Anyone aware of these in scale, along with other western accessories like saddles, etc? mike
  2. Both the D60 and D44 do show up on the original F100 option sheets with the same 3300 lb rating as the 9 inch. I've only seen three myself so I can understand the doubt. Just another option choice like a radio, dash pad delete or a 390. mike
  3. Yes, the D60's definitely were available with the five lug axles in the F100's, Chuck. I had a '67 F100 with a 352 4spd and D60 that I parted out a few years ago. I sold the diff to a gent restoring a Hurst Scrambler. Needed the extra beef to handle the 401 he was mounting upstream... ...besides, the hemi D60s had to come from somewhere ... mike
  4. That is incredible. Love to see a pic of the bottom side... If it's not undercoated, it'll probably be red oxide primer with some yellow overspray. mike
  5. Nice springs ! mike
  6. Very classy mike
  7. The 40 deg. A pillar angle is found by laying a protractor from ye olde geometry set over 1:1 pics. The 1/25 coupes are right on. I thought maybe the door opening was too long, pushing the cowl forward but the wheelbase is pretty close at 6.75". Have to get some more 1:1 measurements... Great pic, Steve mike
  8. Holding the 1/16 body at arms length with a 1/25 held in front to check proportions, the rear end doesn't look bad but the roof could be a little short. This shows in the 30 degree windshield post instead the proper 40 degree A pillar angle. mike
  9. I've still got the 1/16 I built over thirty years ago here and pull it out of the box once in a while considering how much I need to do to make it look right. The awb fastback will be a nice reissue to have as it's easily restored to stock using the coupe quarters. Not sure if missing link still has the interior in it's repertoire though... mike
  10. Curiosity about the tales I've heard regarding the monogram monkees mustang summoned a very reasonably priced example to my mailbox recently. As I also had an unbuilt '83/'84 ragtop here and some very sweet builds have surfaced lately, I thought a few contrast pics were in order, just to add to the kitbashers pool of knowledge here on the site. The Monkees kit was obviously a transition kit using the '79-'86 interior and '83-'85 mechanical parts under the new for '87 body, thrown on the market to capitalize on their Monkees theme licence- and probably to gain capital to finish the drivetrain re-tooling It was molded in a funky swirled blue plastic to somewhat replicate the marbleized paint on the real car. The body had the necessary external updates but shared the engine bay with the earlier convertible body. Interior bucket and dash were also carried over. 5.0 litre 4v dual snorkel air cleaner equipped engine and single exhaust was also a straight reissue. Chrome shot contrast shows wheel difference. Chrome pony wheels and dual exhaust from later issue shown as well for contrast. Here's a contrast of early and late chassis showing minor trimming on tail end and extra holes for dual exhaust mounting The monkees kit is a very affordable alternative to the earlier '83 kit for those looking for the 5.0 parts and dash for backdating other Fox body kits. mike
  11. Wow! You really nailed it. Great work mike
  12. Really nice work so far, Dave. Regarding those headlights, you might try a small pilot hole drilled dead center followed up with a roughly 7 mm bit countersink for the headlamp bucket, carefully monitoring depth. The real headlights are 7" so you'll need 7mm lenses. That's the way I'll be doing mine... mike
  13. ...it's a 10.25 Not a D70.... That'll learn me for assuming without double-checking the box Maybe these Ramcharger parts are a little closer... might have to switch that front pumpkin side for side 'where can I find chrome valve covers for this kits 460' As this model never came with an actual 460, only a 390 through all the variations, you'll have better luck with kits that had FE engines like the Cobras, Fairlanes etc. If you're wondering about finding a real 460 for it, you could probably use the 429's from the Revell '70 Torino or possibly the amt '69 galaxie as the outward appearance of the 429/460 is pretty close to identical. mike
  14. As a wise man once said, 'We're modelers, we can fix that' Dana's are massive at any scale and I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference to most of us. Real picky guys can wait for the dana in one of the new Moebius offerings or pretend a 1/24 D60 from a hemi muscle car is a D70 ... As far as black-out trim, I can only think of the 77-79 free wheeling option mike
  15. Best bet is probably the Dana 70 from the monogram '91 F350 dually for the rear and maybe a leaf spring mounted front Dana from one of the monogram Dodge Ramchargers... mike
  16. Bronco chrome... Great tip, Roger. Now I'm looking for an affordable one... good luck with that mike
  17. Thanks for that link. It's a pretty thorough and informative listing of the Ford engines and, most importantly, it does clearly state the differences between the Windsor (221,260,289,302,351w), the FE (332,352,406,360,390,428etc), the 335 series (351C, 351M,400) and the 385 series (429,460). The 335 and FE's share nothing in common. The 335 and 385 engines do share the same bell housing pattern though. As for the headlight issue, again, it is a trim level difference (ranger-rectangle, custom-round), not a production date that distinguishes these for the '78 model year. They were built side by side from aug '77 to jul '78. mike
  18. Maybe not there, but those of us living here in Alberta, Wy, and Montana see it at least once a winter when that ol' chinook flows over the Rockies... mike
  19. I'm kind of curious as to where that Stones truck ended up myself. The actual construction of the Stones Econoline, Courier and F150 trucks was featured, iirc, in the mar, apr and may '78 issues of Hot Rod under the heading of 'menage a trois' As far as this low production version of one of America's best selling trucks being a 'natural' for amt to produce in scale, I don't guess that I'm the one to say but there is a thread on the fte site running to 70 (!) pages of natter on these trucks. Obviously some interest in these, but I still prefer to build a regular w/b truck. I see R2 also didn't alter the pre-'77 chrome on the bottom of the cab and box. That wasn't such a bad idea as it makes it easier to build a wider variety of years, just sanding it off for the '77-'79 projects. mike
  20. Very clean and realistic ! Darkening the panel lines before paint really makes a difference. Great inspiration to dig out mine and finish it. ike
  21. Guys are still trying to milk 1-200 bucks out of the original sealed kits in that series. Hilarious. All you're getting for that extra 75-150 bucks is a grill, basically, and box art if you're desperate for that. mike
  22. Nice work, Dave mike
