  1. The mags are clearly on the chrome tree and he actually did say tires mike
  2. That second set is actually a 5 spoke mag. Check out Chuck's yeller truck pics earlier in this thread... mike
  3. [Christian said 'I find a lot of the newly tooled ones 'feel' strangely soulless and artificial... sterile' ] Amen! The old pattern makers seemed to be able to catch all the nuances and character that often comes up short in electronically aided design. The trumpeter Falcon seems a good example. Sometimes certain crowns and curves just don't seem to survive the translation, but that's just as likely as result of time constraints and operater judgement. Sure, they're more precise in some areas and possibly quicker to produce but I find myself drawn more to the old metal axle cars, like many here. Speaking of this type of character reminds me of an old wooden handcrafted boat model I picked up at a garage sale in New Brunswick a few years ago. It carried with it a palpable 'atmosphere' , the comfort you see pictured in photos of an old den; warm wooden panelling, walls lined with books, duck decoys, etc. Serious case of sellers remorse when I let that one go on the big auction site... mike
  4. Any hope yet on one of these? mike
  5. 1969 Triumph 1300 saloon(4dr); never seen another one {Harry wrote: Mine was a '67 belvedere with a 225...} that one (actually a '66 belvedere hrdtp with a 225) had to wait to be my fifth car mike
  6. Thanks for keeping us tuned in sir. Bet you're glad to have that one off the table... mike
  7. Looking forward to that stock body Fairmont, Scott. Love that style; last 1:1 I had was a Zephyr Z7 coupe. -whoops- didn't realize how old this thread was... mike
  8. Here's another mid-seventies 'trophy case' Haven't looked at this pic in years. AMT trucks, big bad van, kandy van, 55 nomad, monzilla, 40 ford, 71 petty car, 57 vette gasser and others I can't even remember... still have the parts cabinet and all the big trucks and some others. mike
  9. Thanks, Mike. Only one question; how do you escape from the m/h site with only one item Not possible btw, great work on that lx... Kevin, I usually try your site on stuff like this as I have received great stuff before but I couldn't get the parts list to work for me this time mike
  10. Here's an oddball made by a company named Foremost, apparently specializing in oil exploration or deep brush/muskeg work mike
  11. Thanks for taking the time to show us the parts, Ron. I was hoping mine would show up this week too. That CJ sure is a nice unit to base a build on; maybe some caster could look at supplying those hubcaps as they are identical to the ones needed for a certain F100 soon to be showing up at our favorite retailers mike
  12. That's unfortunate, otherwise I'd order a couple now. Guess I'll make mine... eventually mike
  13. Great work! Is there a link to order that bed casting? mike
  14. Wow! Great effort on the details and nice paint. I'm sure your grandad will appreciate it. mike
  15. No doubt the answer is somewhere in Mr Coulter's new book... mike
  16. Just as an aside, the 4th edition of Petersen's Complete Ford Book had this interesting article... ...given the backdrop of emissions standards and fuel shortages they end the article with ' there are new concepts of automobiles...to find one bearing the name 'Cobra ll'.. is a lasting monument ... as long as its owner remembers what it once was and contemplates on what it now must be.' mike
  17. The Mach Won body appears to be near stock length but the other one... mike
  18. Here's some box art... ...so where does this fit the narrative ? mike
  19. Very well done! So accurate, it brought to mind a '66 Mustang coupe I owned with thrush glass packs right off the collectors like that. The racket was cool for about three days. I finally had to extend the pipes so I could hear myself think... mike
  20. Does anyone have a link to that post about the convertibles ? Anyways, with the saws, glue, putty, files and imagination that most of us possess, those fenders aren't much of an obstacle mike
  21. wonder what Petty charged for renting one of his cars... mike
  22. Looking at a couple of revell body shells has spawned another 'hmmmmm'... ...especially if the new front end on order is as good as it looks mike
  23. The pics aren't as clear as I'd hoped but you get the idea. I just missed picking up missing link's last copy of the '69 a couple of years ago. The mpc body isn't all that bad; the hood is the same size as the amt part and I think the windshield opening looks better. The amt body could probably benefit from some upper windshield trim finessing a la the F350 and the current re-issue '66 Fairlane/Comet body. Another historical bonus I happened upon the other night was someone's thoughtfully provided photo of the '70 blue crescent parts (from the big auction site) so I'll add that one with a pic of the '69 amt kit... '69 amt '70 amt better view of retooled '70 chassis... Mach Won parts mpc super stocker parts '70 mach won chrome shot (one of three); recycled whole from the '69 long-nose funny car kit palmer '70
  24. Here's a profile comparison... revell top, amt middle and mpc bottom ...and a pic showing the revell 1/25 '69 shell alongside the monogram 1/24 '70 shell clearly showing the two shared a common source While the flawed front fenders on the master weren't real obvious on the '70, they became painfully so when the '69 parts were applied. side by side amt '69 and mpc '69 bodies side by side amt '69 and amt '70 bodies
