  1. Thanks for sharing that inspiring story and taking the time to use your talents to bless someone like that mike
  2. I'm just waiting for someone to inject 'back in the day' into this subject somewhere; another fad that was like fingernails on a blackboard for me long before I heard it the first 2500 times...
  3. To paraphrase Mr Tidwell... 'show me the model' mike
  4. Correct on all counts, Chuck. It definitely did vary by year, during the '46-'64 Windsor production and '65-'68 Oakville/ San Jose builds; with the final few years combined with the Ford numbers so possibly only the Marti records would have that info. Anyways, I digress... Thanks again, Dave, for sticking with this project through it all mike
  5. yes, I agree that he's got hisself a parts car now... imagine, just got the dogsled parked for the summer, now this mike
  6. Using the landmarks visible in the y/t version, it looks to have happened in Stony Plain; just west of Edmonton, right here in Alberta Hope he found all the pieces to put it back together... mike
  7. Whoever told you that must have lived in a city From the production figures I've seen out of Oakville, the mercs accounted for as much as forty percent of production some years. Even today when I'm scouting the back roads and farms about the same percentage of the old Fords I come across are wearing the winged helmet. Gary, did you check out the link on post 136? mike
  8. ...and when you find something close to what you're looking for, even if it's too expensive, add it to your 'watch' list. Then go to your watch list, click on the 'more actions' tab under the 'buy it now' button and click on 'view similar'. This shows everything listed in the same category, quite often with an eye-popping variety of prices for the same item. mike
  9. You'll find the '69 grill in scale to be identical to the '68, Kerry. The only difference in the 1:1, as you probably know, is a fine line stamped into the main horizontal cross bar on the '69; oh, and the 'coon eyes', black trimmed headlite doors on the '69 Ranger Otherwise, there are no physical exterior differences between the two. mike
  10. Good reference for mercs here: http://www.fordification.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=35331 mike
  11. Where did you source that gorgeous rolling stock? mike
  12. Great review, Chuck ! Fwiw, those box side nameplates are common for '70-'72. mike
  13. you heard the sgt let's not go burning any bridges here... mike
  14. another great library here: http://www.fordification.com/library/main.php mike
  15. The dash was pretty much the same from '81 to '93 and there was another grill change about '85/'86.(Darrin's style) I remember doing a few Royal SE pdi's... mike
  16. Todd, where did you see the decals? mike
  17. The regular narrow chrome is molded to the body and is fairly easy to foil. mike
  18. The mags are clearly on the chrome tree and he actually did say tires mike
  19. That second set is actually a 5 spoke mag. Check out Chuck's yeller truck pics earlier in this thread... mike
  20. [Christian said 'I find a lot of the newly tooled ones 'feel' strangely soulless and artificial... sterile' ] Amen! The old pattern makers seemed to be able to catch all the nuances and character that often comes up short in electronically aided design. The trumpeter Falcon seems a good example. Sometimes certain crowns and curves just don't seem to survive the translation, but that's just as likely as result of time constraints and operater judgement. Sure, they're more precise in some areas and possibly quicker to produce but I find myself drawn more to the old metal axle cars, like many here. Speaking of this type of character reminds me of an old wooden handcrafted boat model I picked up at a garage sale in New Brunswick a few years ago. It carried with it a palpable 'atmosphere' , the comfort you see pictured in photos of an old den; warm wooden panelling, walls lined with books, duck decoys, etc. Serious case of sellers remorse when I let that one go on the big auction site... mike
  21. Any hope yet on one of these? mike
  22. 1969 Triumph 1300 saloon(4dr); never seen another one {Harry wrote: Mine was a '67 belvedere with a 225...} that one (actually a '66 belvedere hrdtp with a 225) had to wait to be my fifth car mike
  23. Thanks for keeping us tuned in sir. Bet you're glad to have that one off the table... mike
