  1. It might just be possible that the 'general masses' being sold to might not care as much as some of us about having something dead nuts accurate as long as they've got that cool project they built themselves sitting in a place of honor on the shelf.... ...not to excuse or encourage companies to waste our time and theirs on half baked offerings mike
  2. Has anyone tried a '57 conversion with this? mike
  3. That pic is a mock-up from about a year ago and amazing in itself but don't judge the kit by it .... mike
  4. Wonder if it's gonna come with those 80's mirrors.... looks like my 1:1 mike
  5. Beautiful wagon mike
  6. Finally got mine.. nice kit for what it is, but aside from a couple of non-essential details and a nicely redone '64-'77 style front bumper, nothing has really changed It'll accomplish R2's goals though... get a money maker on the shelves and beat Moebius to the punch Beautiful chrome on this one, nicely refinished bumper. Too bad they didn't copy the correct one from the bronco. Decal sheet was redone with gauge faces and Firestone decal for box cover. Hood has blower cutout lines, probably altered when they engineered the Bigfoot kit. Here's hoping some resin caster will strike while the iron's hot and offer us a normal box...and maybe 73-75 and 76/77 grills mike
  7. My sentiments exactly; the whole reason to not waste money on the trumpeter kit is because you have to throw half the kit away and replace them with parts that are actually accurate. It's cool that the 64 t-bolt chassis is such a good fit but it doesn't necessarily follow that it works in 1:1. Like Steve said, the 62/63 Meteor was actually the sister car to the Fairlane and the Comet and Falcon were for the most part twins up to '65. mike
  8. You missed one.... Would sure make a cool combination with just about any Ford drag car. mike
  9. For those interested in doing their own surgery on the box, this link to Mr Ellifrit's how-to album might be a help... http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Repstock/library/Ford%20pickup%20standard%20wheelbase%20bed?sort=6&page=1 mike
  10. That's the most expensive load of 'junque' that chevy's ever going to haul... mike
  11. Thanks for sharing that. Nice to see him honored that way. Bunch of dang dust must have blown into the room while I was watching that, got a little blurry there for a bit... mike
  12. Great concept and beautiful build! Love those 'trucknutz' mike
  13. Yeah, looks like that big ol' nodular Ford diff was a little too much for that widdle chebby to handle Sure was a mess at Scottsdale; wonder if all the claims are settled yet... That one Charger looks like it got nailed by a freight train a la Dirty Mary-Crazy Larry mike
  14. Maybe he/she is thinking of the '78 4x4 re-issue... mike
  15. Would have been nice to have the original style Free Wheeln' decals... but that goofy wheelbase nixed that
  16. I just received a package from revell containing replacements for the warped body and poorly chromed front wheels I found in the L'il Coffin I recently purchased. Much appreciated. mike
  17. Received a replacement body and wheels from Revell this week. Thanks gentlemen ! Here's the parts layout... mike
  18. If they've done nothing to address the incorrect spacing/balance on the cowl nameplates a guy might as well sand them off... as has been mentioned, they're pretty much gone under the first coat of primer anyways mike
  19. Very cool concept, Pat. Getting me motivated to get back to work on my Ford version.... mike
  20. We've got two or three decent hobbyshops here in central Alberta that keep pretty good stock on models and paint. Pricing's been pretty fair. Mostly cheaper than buying online combined with shipping; even more so now with our falling buck... mike
  21. Here's some variations on the basic theme... mike
  22. A diorama idea for some ambitious modeller... mike
  23. Here's a better look at the most important parts of this kit... Taking great pleasure in exploding another old wives tale, I'll say that with all the parts inherited from the previous LRE shortbox kit like the incorrect mirrors, taillights, engine and air cleaner, there is definitely no '78 grill or hood included in these P/I kits. Be interesting to hear the back story on this one... mike
  24. Sure happy it's an '08-'10 and not the gaudy grilled '11up. Great to have a scale 6.4 powerstroke finally; probably won't be long before resin copies hit the market. mike
  25. They are scarce and expensive but deals happen once in a while... Through serendipitous circumstance I hit the big auction site the other day in time to nail a sealed example for only half a c-note Had a 1:1 a few years ago and am wondering why mpc never tooled an accurate dual snorkel air cleaner for these. It's not gonna stay sealed for long... mike
