I found one about 3 weeks ago but since then the 3 hobby lobby stores near me haven't had them. Said they can't even order them yet. Just have to wait until the warehouse ships them to them.
Yep. It's pretty much hidden, besides, when was the last time you saw a truck and were instantly drawn to the frame? It's like having a house and staring at the trusses in the attic.
Go read the car forums. A millimeter mistake on a kit is disaster!! Look at it this way. At least they made a few kits. Frames are pretty easy to scratchbuild if it really bothered someone that much.
Actually, LEGO has a huge adult fan base. Check out any of the high detail automotive kits they've put out in the last few years. All geared towards adults. There is also a series of highly detailed buildings. They release a new one each year. LEGO Star Wars has a huge following as well. They did the Death Star a few years back. Biggest kit ever. Over 5000 pieces and retailed around $600. So it would not surprise me to see this hit the market. LEGOS are just another creative medium.
I have the VW kits they put out. They are really cool and detailed kits. But I can see how it's not everyone's cup of tea. But I've been a Lego fan my whole life.
It's not the economy. It's that they have put a boring product on the cookie cutter tracks.
I think a new kit would be a disaster sales wise. You can't give away nascar kits.
And I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't,
So here's to drinks in the dark and the end of my rope,
I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope,
It's a shot in the dark aimed right at my throat,
Cuz looking for heaven put a devil in me.
Aero trucks are more than here to stay. It's the name of the game these days and it's only going to keep advancing. The next 10-20 years will be interesting.
This new Western Star isn't bad looking. It just looks a little boxy to me and the body color grill stripe will take some getting used to.
Here's a more recent one.
