If you are having trouble finding a volcano, I used to use a little valve grinding paste for the engine turning. Beautiful workmanship mate & you are right, working out how is often the most rewarding part of this game. Looking forward to the rest of the build. Brian

The engine is almost box stock except for the injection trumpets. The thing that is missing from the kit is the supercharger that was available in the real car. The space in front of the engine is there but..... Apparently this engine was used in Indy cars at some stage & I tried to copy what it looked lik from internet photos. Had to cut off the ignition packs from the cam cover too Its a cool, modern looking donk. Would look good with a couple of turbos on it too Thanks for the interest Brian

Mate!... my kind of build although the rear wing is a little small. Hah!! How about a front end like Loeb's Pike Peak Pug What induction system & wheels are you looking at? Be watching Brian

Quick update. Interior/chassis almost done. What's left will have to wait untill the body goes on, mainly stuff on the rear deck like the tank & rear cage etc. I have been trying to build an airbox around the injectors too but there isn't much room. Might try some Coke can next Great kit, very realistic detail particularly the chassis & engine. Brian

Good start. This kit is a favorite of mine & its great seeing all the different interpretations that come up on the sites & mags. How many hot rods have been built up from this kit??? Good luck with it Brian

Wheels are Aoshima. Great on the outside, pity about the inside. I will have to come up with some inner guards or ducts to cover the lack of detail there. Wheel pack came with tyres that aren't quite wide enough although I have used them on the front. Rear tyres are from my parts box as I needed a slightly bigger section. Brake rotors came with the wheels too. Thanks for looking Brian

Following ShawnS again..... If you are not following his build then do it. The craftsmanship on the Falcon is mind blowing & he has done some other incredible builds on our ozautobuilders site. The man is an artist. Good stuff !!! Thanks for the comments on the Shelby. Colour will be a traditional blue & white like the original (cos I like it!) but a little darker as per the helmet shown below. For those who want to have a go...front guard extensions are AMT '25 cycle guards cut in half trimmed & filled. Rear guards are off a very old Bandai 1/20 Fiat X1/9 kit.... VERY old. Roof & wing were from a weird Aoshima "Toyota 2000GT Turbo Racer' I found at a garage sale. The roof had to be split & norrowed a little but it was spooky how close the front edge fitted the Shelby screen. Mind you, the molding was so thick it could be filed down to fit anything. I'm sure the Viper roof will be cool too, it seems to have the right profile. Bonnet bulge is the seat back from the kit. And for those who have thought about this conversion, have a go. You don't have to go the GT3 route, I would like to see a road going version & maybe a door slammer (no kidding). How good would a stretched & smoothed door slammer look !!!. Hmmm now thats got me thinking... might have to go cruzing on ebay after this. Have a good one Brian

Sorry... its the Revell Shelby Series 1 The Series 1 was only ever built as a drophead so I grafted the roof of an old & very crude Toyota 2000 kit. The roof profile was very close to the original coupe but alll the window lines had to be reshaped. Brian

What if Shelby Series 1 Cars had been a marketing success What if they went racing again....say a GT Championship Say in an update of the Daytona....With current aero styling.... Body almost ready for paint. Working up the interior at the moment Suggestions welcome but the wing stays, ugly as it is, to keep the GT3 thing going Hope its of interest Brian

Speedway & Midgets have been big here for a long time & local engine swaps into imported chassis were common. This was particularly so with the GM Holden straight six so I have slotted one into the superb Revell Midget kit. (For the locals, its a Parts Box resin grey motor painted red). They got impressive amounts of power out of these things & this one runs something like the McGee fuel injection developed locally. Driver is a very cut down Nascar jock with a parts box head! Hope you enjoy it Brian

Thanks for the comments gentlemen. Here is a couple of build photos that show the chassis mods etc. The spare tracknose from the Revell midget fits very well to any early Ford hood, just needs a little cut & fill etc Brian http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff362/brianl3/32%20track%20nose/DSCF1834.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff362/brianl3/32%20track%20nose/DSCF1839.jpg

Pretty happy how this one turned out. Started out with an old stock roadster body shell & hood from a friend (thanks Bruce). Chassis has been zedded at the back, narrowed at the front to fit inside the tracknose & the front axle moved out a little. The Lincoln V12 fitted real nice. Body mods include the track nose, the whole cockpit has been moved back to balance the body masses, new hood sides fabricated & the rear of the hood relocated to give the car a longer look. All the body moldings have been smoothed & the number plate frenched. Paint was Tamiya Italian red / Racing white. Have a good one Brian

AMTs '25 T kits are a great source of bits for any hot rod builder. After the T5000 & 25 T I looked in the box at the bits that were left & saw this thing (in bits of course) Everything I have ever done was low & wide so this was a real laugh to do. Thanks for looking, finished posting for now, going back to building. Brian

This is my most modified kit so far. Loved the Daytona since it first came out but was really disappointed with the kit so it got fixed!! Front wheel arches & axles were moved forward to reduce the bulk at the nose. The guards were widened a bit too. The roof has been dropped at the front with new A pillars & an extended rear deck added. Half the reason I wanted to build the kit was the nose & wing but with the extended tail , the wing didn't work... weird. Underneath is a cut down Nascar chassis, cage & suspension. It was fun squeezing a 1/24th chassis under a cut down 1/25 shell Power plant is the gas turbine out of the old Lotus Indy car. Added some detailing, an intake screen & the biggest exhaust I could jamb in there. Being jet powered the paint scheme was a no brainer. Pretty happy with the way it turned out Brian

This model was inspired by a very well known Australian rod built by Rod Hadfield. It was a genesis car that has all the features that define a hot rod to me. Its the 2nd model I built from the AMT '25 T kit. The T5000 first up & I'll post the 3rd one later. Again I like 'em low. It was a lot of fun to build Brian

Always wanted a Manx - This one is chopped 3 mm in the body & I turned the front end upside down & scratch built a rear end that dropped it some more. Also stretched the wheelbase a little to get a better line. I like em low. Used the spare supercharged four out of the Mickey Thompson Attempt 1, fitted real good! Added a radiator & grill to make it a little more plausible. Enjoy Brian

Thanks for the positive feedback gentlemen Austin - the mirrors came about because I wanted an F1 type wheel with paddle shifts so no dash. I just stuck some Evergreen tube in place of the dash, added the mirrors & some bog Turned out OK Wayne - thanks for the Chauvin Emmons note. I looked him up. What an awesome life & so sad to loose him - The man built great cars & obviously had a LOT of fun doing it. Cheers Brian

Had this one in the back of my mind for ages - T Bucket - tracknose - Le Mans Peugot 905 suspension, wheels & transaxle - Ford Nascar motor Named it after the old Formula 5000 cars I used to watch as a teenager Real one would be a blast!! Brian

First Post so here goes This Racer is based on the Lindberg '34 Ford pickup kit, the biggest engine I could find (Alison of course) & inspiration from the Arfons brothers who seemed to have a lot of fun back in the day! The rest is scratch built from the parts box. Thanks for looking Brian Little
