1/12 2010 Shelby GT500 "Super Snake" COMPLETED in Under Glass

That would work well also. It would make it a lot easier to see where you need to cut at than the tape was. -

The black is easy, i used Tamiya 1/4 inch tape decanted some semi gloss black from Model Masters and brushed it on. Dried smooth and looks great. The hardest part was doing the black trim around the windows. Little tape and a sharp blade worked great! -
I would decant some of the silver and just tape off the red and use a good brush to touch up the silver then clear over it all. Might not look as good as a repaint but with the clear over it it wont look half bad.

Spray paint is nice and easy but its very costly to keep doing it that way.

When hand brushing paints I never dip a dry brush into the paint. I will always dip the brush into clean thinner first, this helps to thin the paint just enough to stop brush lines from forming. Also if i'm painting something like a pair of seats i will clean my brush twice each seat, once for the front and once for the back. This helps to keep drying paint from forming on your brush and causing drag marks. Also once you've painted and area do not brush it again since the paint has already started to dry, wait till its fully dry before touching up the paint. Also the type and size of brushes you use are a huge factor in the finish of the paint. I use mainly a hair type brush. Also if painting a wide or big part i use the widest brush i have to fit the job at hand. I think a rough count in brushes i have around 15. These are just suggestions, in no way, shape or form am i telling you how to paint!!!

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/choosecolor/buypaint.aspx 20.00 for a 12oz spray can of Kona Blue. You can get any color, any year, any make here, most cans are 20.00+ s/h. Good place if you don't airbrush your models. -

I know and the model you are building is a 1968 drag car! If you want to put an exhaust on then do it!! I'm just telling you that not only do the kit directions state that the drag version does not run an exhaust but in real life for the time this car was supposed to be running down the drag strip they didnt run an exhaust either.....there was no need!! An exhaust restricts the engine and creates back pressure which is NOT what you want in a drag car.- 125 replies

Its got a roll bar, a high hp engine, sponsors and drag tires......sounds like a drag car to me. If you are seeing mufflers on a drag car its one of 3 things, 1. the car is also driven on the street, 2. the track they race at requires a small muffler for noise restrictions due to local regulations or 3. the owner cant handle the noise. I have also been around race cars my whole life, my father was a mechanic and also raced several diffrent styles of cars till i was about 7 or 8 yrs old before he quit. LOL its got street tires, that's not a drag car!- 125 replies

No, drag cars have no need for an exhaust, they run open headers hence why this kit does the same.- 125 replies

The drag version does not use mufflers, they just run the long tube headers and nothing else. The exhaust system is only for the street car using the 440 engine.- 125 replies

Guess i got lucky. My firewall is tight with no gap at all. No test fitting either, just glued the firewall first to the floor pan and let it "float" meaning i did not glue it to the side panels of the interior tub. I let the dash hold that section together. Going to snap a finished picture for the build thread here in a few.- 125 replies

Thank you. I got some more work done today but didn't get it finished. I was looking into doing a 6 point cage in it but i never intended to do as much as i have. This was going to be a quick build just for my wife (she asked me to build her a green muscle car), i am thinking it just might go on the shelf next to the others now! -
I like the color! How have you liked this kit?
