Nice bro! I’ve managed to get 2 of these kits & now deciding on colours! There’s already a few builds up on you-tube & they look fantastic! 👍🏽👍🏽

I too am excited for the re-release of the Benz 500sec, especially if it’s the Lorinser version!! 🫨 Also definitely interested in Revell’s 2 new kits for this year, the Bugatti EB110 & the new Lamborghini Revulto ! Though i just hope neither is some type of snap-kit? 😳🙄 I’m wondering if Aoshima has lost the exclusive contract with Lamborghini because they’ve been the sole manufacturer for Lambos for many years now 👍🏽

Yes there’s a lot to do to make an accurate replica for sure ? But u gotta do what u gotta do to get the results u want. I just take my time… never in a hurry to build… it is a hobby after all ?????

Which black bits do you mean, mate, the trim? I always do the trim after body has been painted/cleared. I just mask them off & paint. For the side grills? I hand painted those recessed areas. Clearing beforehand helps if I stuff up because any mistake is easily wiped off so I can re-do it. ??

Oh man! I’m an 80s kid through & through & the Testarossa has to be 1 of my all time favourites! Being a huge car fan & a TV junkie ( all the car shows back then ) I had to build this kit also ( same Tamiya Testarossa ) but had to do it in white, a replica of Sonny Crockett’s Testarossa. Not only that but I also had the 512 TR Blackstar ( Fujimi ) & the Koenig Special Edition, in my stats. So I decided to build all 3 at the same time! The Koenig is a “what if ?” Miami Vice was rebooted & Sonny still drove a Testarossa… but… it was updated & tuned, with modern material like CF ??? I’ve included a couple of pics without wanting to hijack your great thread. Just wanted you to know there’s heaps of Testarossa fans out there ?? Also being a Mopar guy I chose to do the Koenig in Octane Red & the 512TR in F8 Green. The Vice car is Bianco. They’re all still WIPs at this stage as I need time for the bench to finish them ???? Cheers Cliff

You’re welcome Steve! It’s the nitty-gritty details that matters sometimes & you’re sure making a great effort to clean those pesky seam/lines up! It’s silly when you think about it, because some will never be seen anyway ??♂️? But we know they’re there.... ??♂️?? 3000 paints? Whoaaaaa! ? Good luck finding it! Might be easier just buying a new bottle? Lol! Keep up the awesome work my friend & yes, you stay healthy too ?????? -

Awesome work on the re-chroming, Steve! Looks ?????? Just a tip, you may have trouble with the stance. IMO, having built several of these Revell Chargers, the front end sits too high. The spindles need a trim, about 1-1.5mm off, to get a better/lower front end stance ?? Can’t wait to this bad boy wrapped up ???? Cheers Cliff. -

G’day Steve, here’s a couple of pics regarding the foam pads & cotton “mops” that I mentioned I use. They’re widely available on EBay ( from China - so you might have a bit of a problem getting them at this point due to that silly virus. I got these ages ago, I’m a hoarder for stuff like this. ? ) The cotton “mops” are usually used by jewellers for polishing & they’re not the hard/compressed type you get with Dremel parts stuff ) totally different. The foam pads come in various grades, same as they do for 1:1 pads. I’ve also included pics of the 2 Dremels I use, because they’re both quite slow ( rpms ) for polishing our builds & are perfect to do just that ?????? Cheers, Cliff. -

You’re exactly right.... I think everyone is their own worst critic ??♂️ Lol. The learning from the pro’s is what I tend to replicate into each successive build I do too. There are some really talented guys out there & do some absolutely amazing work, like jaw-dropping ? I follow a few guys on f/b & Instagram & they are true pros. If you get the chance check out DH Modelworx & Scaled Lenses, both on F/B & instagram. You will be amazed at the work/builds, also check out aerev on Instagram - this guy is the God of carbon fibre decaling! As for lessening your polishing time, I’ve graduated ( a couple of years ago now ) to polishing like they do on the 1:1s, with my Dremel & cotton mops/ 1’ & 2’ foam pads! It’s drastically cut down on the hours spent by hand ???? Anyways ..... like I said.... keep up the good work! Cheers -

Looks great!! ?? I do love my mopars & the 2nd Gen’ Chargers are my absolute favourites, ever since I saw the most famous 2nd Gen’ wearing the 01 on its doors, as a kid ? I myself am working on all 3 year models, the 68/69 & 70, putting as much detail into them as I can or am able to do. As for your finishing style/technique.... nothing you need advice on..... seems you’ve got it down-pat ???? Being in the hobby well over 40yrs now, I learnt a hellava lot through SAE magazine, other builders, these forums etc, as well as modern internet videos ( You-Tube etc ) & watching real car shows/builds. Self-education is the best way to make progress & good progress at that! Keep up the great work & im looking forward to your Charger’s progress ?? Cheers -
Superb! Absolutely gorgeous! Best Challenger I’ve ever seen ?? Well done mate!! ????
-
Absolutely agree with you here! I’m a HUGE Mopar fan & would buy every variant a kit company would come out with! I know many, many more modellers/Mopar enthusiasts who would too! The 1:1 guys with real cars would also love to have replicas made of their 1:1s. As for diecast.... Auto Art are coming out with the Hellcat Widebody/RT etc very soon.... but not exactly cheap/costing 3-4x your average kit. Also on the Hellcat motor... there’s a guy on Instagram, JPS, who’s working on the HC motor & it looks BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH good.... price though isn’t cheap... probably the same cost of your average whole kit!

It’s a Mopar.... it’s got a Hemi..... dual turbos.... what’s not to like/love?! Sweet build, DC ????

Can you use BMF over flat paint?
CJ1971 replied to Hotrod 97's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
In my experience BMF will not adhere to flat paint/s like it does to gloss paint/s. Either use the Micro Foil adhesive as suggested or lightly wet sand off the flat black on the trim, leaving a smooth surface for the BMF to “stick” to. Cheers. -
Yep you’re right there, about slight differences with the torque boxes. I fabricated them for my 68 because the 70 kit hadn’t been issued when I built my 68. I have at least 2 more chargers ( 69 & 70 ) to build & im thinking about buying some new carbs from Fireball for the Hemi. They look awesome & extremely well detailed ?? Joseph does some very good work/casting ???? Cheers ??
-
Will enjoy seeing your builds, John. Built a few Chargers myself, Hemi/Non-Hemis, so I thought I’d give you a heads-up, since you’re going with the Hemi in this 68. The chassis needs torque boxes, all Hemi optioned B-bodies ( most others too ) all had torque boxes. I noticed you’re not using the Hemi on the 70, your other WIP, maybe use that chassis for this 68 & use this 68’s chassis for the 70 ???

Beautiful! Well done! Have built the DBS & have another/with the same after-market wheels. Just love this model year Astons ???

Very nice, Uelder

Why don't you try Zero Paints?? All they need is the colour code. Or try a local auto-paint supply shop, same deal, provide the code & they can mix you a batch. ( in most cases they can get the code themselves, if they have a decent computer sourcing system for paint codes ) ?

Beautiful!! ???
