  1. oooooh Tulio..you are going to hate me real soon... what ever i can say..it wasn't intentional sneek previeuw it will be black and near stock also..but not as nice as yours..i've had it for years and now i'm about to finish it .
  2. @JasonC.. i do know of some US forums refering to the e30 ,but your cars (not just e30's in particular)are so much different then ours over here.. enginewise your cars carry more smog equipment and catalyc converters and such and also the enginecodes differ a lot..and then i'm not even discussing the safetyfeatures on yours as in airbags, safetybelt warningstuff, huge bumpers with impact collission resistance you also never had the 316i (102hp,M40code),but did have a 325IS..which is basicly a 'detuned'325i.. i won't even start about M3's...most you got had Airconditioning..(on a DTM kindacar.go figure) i get most my socalled knowledge from Germany like www.e30.de.. and from mistakes made in the past...and believe me they are numerous if i'm curious about Hemi's or a 350 small block ,i sneek across the big drink with you people sorry for OT (Harry)..Dutch love smalltalk
  3. Since fall 2008. a 1988 BMW e30 3 series..bought with just 100000 miles (160.000 km) on the clock..full service history and more important hardly any rust.. originaly a very slow and thirsty 320i with automatic gearbox , at the lights a 318i four banger could eat it for breakfast drove this more or less stock for a year..(a long year), then bought a wrecked 525i e34 5 series m50b25 for it's engine ,5 speedbox, ecu and engineloom, rear diff ,brakes etc also fabricated my own exhaustsystem out of e36 an e30 M3 parts.. took the car of the road ,and transformed it into an Alpina B6 replica ,meaning; wheels ,bodykit.'livery',and a grey cloth Recaro sportsinterior ,Bilstein sportsuspension , all of it being original BMW/Alpina parts it was also completely repainted in 181 Diamantschwarz.. fitted the engine with mostly BMW parts..(was almost like Lego). and now its a 25 year old car which revs all the way to 7000 rpm if needed..but your grandma could still drive it in citytraffic also topspeed is about 240 km/h and 0-100 (62 mph) gets disposed of well under 8 seconds i like going trough tunnels at about 100-110 km/h and downshifting in to 3rd gear with te windows down...the exhaustnote is very e46 M3 CSL like...people don't have a clue ... needless to say..it's not for sale.. o yeah..the trailerhitch is gone nowadays. greetz..
  4. all depeds on timeframe..i;ve been away from plastic modelling for ,,ow about 20+ years and now kinda 'redoing' the things i've put together ,back when i was in my early teens pay attention to the words 'put together'..çause back then that's about all i did..and can't even imagine what my efforts looked like i've redone a ZZ top 33 Ford ,the way it should..and currently building the Revellogram 1/12 57 Chevy Bel Air..a 1/12 Camaro was recenlty found online also...so i've got my work cut out for me.. i've gathered a lot more patience over the years,,which is 90% basics in getting a model finished..skill you just learn by building over and over each day..as well the drive to finish something without messing up big time did a lot of kits in the past ..so you could say that i build some more than once..even 25 years apart (probably different tooling also)
  5. we had a lot of these cars around here back in the '70's it was partswise loosely based around the Manta and Kadett..the biggest displacement engine available was a 1900cc 4 cylinder at the time..(Belgium also got a small 1200cc ,for tax reasons) compared to a 'Vette it was pocket size ,and only capable for being a 2 seater ..roadhandling was pretty horrible also..as was rustprevention nowadays in Europe most of them leftover are more or less restored in original condition.. as customizing back in the late '70's -early '80's didn't do much good for the cars image..not many survived that way.. some of them recieved hideous bodykits and wide arches back then hoodscoops ,285 rear tires ..the works.. enginewise upgrading a GT ,would have been the fuel injected 2.0 liter out of the second generation Manta (115 din hp)...6 Cylinders in a original 4 cylinder car (like the kit is offering)..were a no-no in most European countrys back then.. also the more rare option somethimes taken was/is the 2.2/2.4 cylinder unit found in Rekord and first gen Omega's.. with hot cams and double 45 Weber sidedraughts it would produce around 140-160 din hp.. Stateside ,i'd propably go for a 350 Chevy small block..and sufficient rear end.....knowing the dimensions underhood and chassiswise of these cars ..i guess it would fit .. BTW ,i know you guys got the GT/J over there..it was basiclly the same minus the chrome trim..(and rust) grtz from Holland
  6. And this is ever so true.. but not only that, but for the 'lower' part of Dutch society a fridge full of food has become more important since the switch to Euro's (currency) having a hobby or participating in sports has become more than a luxury.. this may sound crazy for a european country ,,but it is what it is i too have seen a lot of hobbystores dissapear over the years..Kid's these day's like Ipods an X boxes a lot more than a modelkit nowadays it seems and the fact that you can change the looks ,wheels and colour of your car in a videogame in a matter of seconds seems more appealing..instead of the glue and rattlecan option in 1/24 scale... also most modelkitbrands more or less specialize in US cars ..be it muscle or rod...50's chrome etc...and we seldomely see those over here perhaps at a show but not in daily traffic... there is a lot of truck and plane building done here..that i know of...and 1/18 Diecast is sort of popular ..the rest is more or less subculture (it's hard to find BMF..and you can forget about Modelcargarage etc stuff over here)
  7. i just recently finished this kit..it was new old stock from the US.. i ended up finishing the hood in one piece..so it could be removed as to show the engine... it's possible to do that.. the interior should be burgundy red(ish),not brown like yours..the stripes on the doorpanels and the seat cover is supposed to be 'egg shell white' whatever that means.. just check out the Gimme all your lovin' video when the door swings open @ the gas station the rest looks ok ,nice build...good work
