1969 RS SS 1/12 grille. any out there?
heinz74 replied to kagnew's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
me too..there is so much potential for this kit..one could even create a Yenko package for it..(wheels ,big block ,decals)and get away with it... -
i know that,,and yes the detailingkit is great!..no way one could ever drybrush the scripts on the 1/12 example.. i simply called my '69 a 350..cause it's nowhere near stock.. but the 302 badges can be done...the 'master of large scale ,,Hawk 312' did it on all his builds..

the euro Capri was a much bigger car..it shared some of its drivetrain with the Taunus ..it was also available with a v6 engine.. the Escort really is a small car even for our standards..

1/8 Jaguar E-type to be reissued!
heinz74 replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
i actually know this guy..in reality he's not that bad..but knows about prices...and what people are willing to spend.. i did do a couple of really great deals with him ,with some 1/18 diecast cars ,he even got me a Autoart e30 M3 for 20 euro's less than what it cost in other shops.. he sort of makes a living by selling /trading kits and models and always answers his E mails and phonecalls...something that can't be said about other people..nowadays..but a hustler? ...naah.. -
that's real nice transportation ,but you only got it in US spec ,with less horses than us overhere..am i right?...most of the time yours are loaded with extra's like aircon and electric everything ,leather seats and such so i guess that compensates.. real nice colour...we had that on e30 tourings an convertibles over here in last years of production..

1/12 '69 Camaro Z/28 (New Foose Kit) BMF Done 6/2
heinz74 replied to ImpalaBoy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
looks good so far!..i also loved building and detailing the engine...almost a shame to put it in the actual car.. be sure to check if you can close the hood WITH the aircleaner sitting on top of the carbs after the engine sits in the car i couldn't get it to close on mine so i left it of...could be my mistake ,or maybe Revell has taken care of it in this issue masking the Z28 stripes is gonna be nervewrecking but it can be done.. i thought some guy on Ebay reproduces these decals along with Yenko stuff? -
1/8 Jaguar E-type to be reissued!
heinz74 replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
how about the detail on this kit then?..i'm just nearly finishing the 1/8 65 Corvette and that really is nothing more than an oversized 1/24-25 kit.. that's how it builds up anyway -
love to see one with the Foose wheels ..does it sit lower? i'm still waiting for the kits to arrive in Europe.. and about the headers..that's nothing new ,they kind of sucked in the older issues too
-
thanks for the review.except for the new decals..and wheels and tires it's pretty much the 'street machine' issue from the '90s i do like the fact they included the decals for the scripts and emblems..otherwise drybrushing these things is near impossible MCG pe set works better ,but costs a little extra also the woodgrain decals for the interior are nice (if that rocks your boat). i will be getting one ,and will probably build it into a 427 Yenko ,with the 1/12 Corvette Big Block.. they will be released over here (Holland)by mid Februari ..i hope..

The most wicked cobra you'll meet. well maybe lol
heinz74 replied to bosshog's topic in Diecast Corner
so this is really a modified die cast from Kyosho..not a real plastic kit?..i kinda guessed it was -
looking at these pictures ,it's just a reissue of the Streetmachinekit..2816..with the Foose wheels and different decals now the one i built mine with a couple of months ago.. i really wanted white Z/28 stripes ,but they're black....so much for a frost green Z/28.. looks like a great kit though..i will be picking one up anyways..
-
don't worry about that it will be available at Tom's (dat weet jij wel)...just like the GT500..only different box art in the worst case.. it will be issued here ,i'll bank on that
-
you don't need to be Foose to alter a Z/28.i posted mine a few months ago..in this section.. i'm also still waiting for the 'new' kit so i can build a stock one..love to have one in dark green or burgundy..

Plastic vs. diecast
heinz74 replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
you all seem to be forgetting about 1/18 Diecast and resin models, which IS big over here in Europe companys like AutoArt ,Minichamps,Ottomobile,GT spirit produce some real nice yet expensive models with AutoArt neck and shoulders above all the rest of them most online buy and sell websites have a huge catagorie for this ,and a very small one for plastic kits.. i think it also has to do with the fact that while there are so many US cars in kitform produced there aren't many euro mainstream cars out there and even if you find some.often they don't look right.. also the market for aftermarket stuff like wheels and things is quite big, and some guys over here go to great lenghts to totally rebuild these cars (me included) scratchbuilding engines and interiors an all... i guess it's all down to each individual culture ..statewise or eurowise -
i guess that's about all there is about the Foose thing then ..some wheels and decals.. no 572 crate engine or new seats ,no RS package.. i guess the way i built mine a few months ago would look more customized/Foosified if it was real than this kit i will be getting one though ..i still want a stock one..i'll just save the wheels for a 57 chev i've got sitting here

that's a very nice Camaro..can't argue with that,...no sir!

Just we thought it was over! ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPERS
heinz74 replied to slusher's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
we had those shows over here too..on Discovery...first couple of seasons were digestable after that it all kinda got the same..with the continious fights between Sr and Jr.. did like the chair throwing and office 'redecoration' at times..(axe through the door..chasing eachother with BB guns etc) but in the end i never really saw what made their bikes so special...most of the time frames wheels and blocks were just from their shelves or suplieers...bar the socalled 'theme' that they did to it... most of the time i felt that their painter should have gotten most of the credit... -
i've got hundreds of them ..from start to finish,,i replaced nearly every panel except the roof..which i never would have done if it wasn't a real Abarth.. i'll show 2.. both of these were taken after it was finished last september.. here it sits in 2 pack surfacer ,,after long long nights of welding and sanding and sanding..and more sanding.. after the engine is broken in the weber carb will be replacing the standard one that's on it now ..then after rejetting it would be real fun to drive,,, it's valued as is at 10.000 euro's ....can you believe that?

So is the 'rat rod' craze officially over?
heinz74 replied to Mike_G's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i guess i'll walk by then.. respecting other people's opinion ,giving a 'politically correct' answer and all that.. i just can't seem to understand that style of customizing,,, i do like the barnfind thing...discovering a car that's been left behind for decades..and like a wise man once said it's only original once ,it can be restored a thousand times.. but if i was to find say for instance a '67 Shelby gt500 Mustang or perhaps a '69 Z28 Camaro covered in decades of dust... well i would take pictures ...a lot of them ...for all the 'patina' freaks in the world...heck i wouldn't even drive it on those cracked tires.. moments later i would take it apart for a full rotissery resto...no doubt in my mind no way i would clearcoat the body with the rustspots ,and free the seized engine and brakes and (try to)drive it.."Rat look'.. it would come rolling out of my shop years afterwards better then new .and not looking like something that's gonna fall apart that's the way i see it...and that in my opinion is the only way to keep old cars around ,by giving them new life after restoration not by making them look worse than they could ever be /get.. just my two cents.. -
currently a warehouse employee/forkliftdriver..before that i was a bodyrepair specialist/painter for more than 22 years economy is so bad overhere that people tend to cash in their money from the insurance company and just keep driving their cars without completely fixing them.. most bodyshops have gone bankrupt the last 10 years ,and then there is Eastern europe that can repair/restore cars like we can but for half the cash.. but nevertheless i will never go back to working on cars for a living ..compared to what i do now it's never worth it ..not the stress or the long hours..it became sort of a drag in the end.. i do have a reasonably well equipped workshop at my house...where i sometimes take on projects..but all in my own space and time.. so it never becomes something i HAVE to do NOW..or HAS to be READY by next friday.. (recently finished restoring a '69 Fiat 500 Abarth..which took me 2 years)
