Johnt671 replied to jchrisf's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the complements and info. I just finished it and posted a finished picture in the Work on Progress section if any wants to see more pictures. Later I'll post more in the Under glass section. -

Ever buy kits...just to "Pirate" parts?
Johnt671 replied to Southern Fried's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I guess I'm the rare bird that hasn't done this. I've taken parts from a kits, mostly motors ans wheels , to use on other kits and used other parts to finish those kits but never a whole kit. I think because even back when nits were a buck ninty-eight they were hard to afford and I couldn't see wasting them. -
Love it. My favorite years and a gasser on top of that. Great job.

Some progress. I cleaned my Molotow tips and got the nice chrome look back, and did the decals on it.

There's something about these Willys gassers. Nice

Thanks slusher and ewetwo.

Nice work on both.

I found a set of resin Cragar wheels that look good, and the 66 meets it's brother from another mother for the first time.

it is a pretty basic kit. I was going to wire the Hemi. but I decided to save my pre-wired dizzy's for another day. I'm warping the rear end to hide the way I raised the rear end.
-
Same color with a flat black hood on all three.
-
I started this one a couple of days ago. It is the second of three Charger generations I'm going to do. All three with be the same color scheme and be Hemi powered. the third picture shows the slightly raised rear end .

Thanks for the compliments. It makes the build much more satisfying.

Thanks. I forgot I used a set of Gofer Racing gauges in the dash. The extra shine is a coat of Pledge over the paint and decals.

Thanks. it was a pretty easy build. I enjoyed doing this one.

Just finished, It' almost box stock. The only thing not from it's box are the bucket seats from a 56 Ford kit, which I used so I could take the body off and since the kit has an automatic, an auto shifter from R&M. Paint is Testers Fiery Orange lacquer on the body and a Sherwin - Williams tan interior. I bought it years ago from The Fiero Store to match my Fiero interior and had a lot left over.
-
This one is done, and I'm pleased with the way it came out. Other than the bucket seats and the automatic floor shifter from R&M I was able to stay with a box stock I wanted. I'm going to post pictures in the finished section of the forum. Thanks for the looks and praise.

The stacks are one piece for each side, so it it was easy to set up. The wheels are box stock.

Nice rescue.
