Corrected the interior floor, and found I lost the kit shifter. I found one that looks like the shifter in the picture below. I'm debating over trying to cut the vents open on the hood scoop, but I'm not sure I am skilled enough to pull that off.

Thanks. I did look at some pictures but didn't look far enough down the page to see that. I'll be painting my nice flocking black to correct this.

alexis and High octane, thanks for the leads. If I were to go the kit route I'd still build the Caddy so it wouldn't be a big loss. I haven't started looking for it in resin yet because this ones a little bit down the road. -
I hope it works for you. Maybe try Rust-oleum primer sealer for a first coat, then the white primer over that. I been using that for a while with good results. Good luck>

The kit got here yesterday, and the body looks looks good. I saw a few pieces of somewhat flat sprue that I may be able to fab thr roof post from. The biggest worry I have is cut off finger tips to scribe the door openings. Plus I don't have the right tool, and can't draw a line with a ruler. -
Today's update. I changed the valve covers after these pictures. Tight fit in the motor bay, but it went together without a problem.
-
Thanks. And I thought I was being so careful reading the directions.

I started this one a few days ago. So far this is a very nice and easy build. Everything so far fits together nice. This might be a slump buster or a nice build to do after a tough kit.

Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks everyone.

I got the donor kit I wanted on e-bay for just a couple of bucks more than I wanted to pay, so that's not bad.I have a bunch of spare gasser parts put away so I'll start going through them to see what might work on this car. It's still a few weeks out since I started another build. When I start on it I'll post in this thread for those who might want to check it out. -
After starting, then putting this one away for a few years . it done. Here's a link to the build thread. It's box stock other than a resin shifter. I started this with no parts stash so I didn't have anything to spice it up. I also threw in a shot of it next to the second model I built, a 61 convertable modeled after I owned in 1969, just before I went in the service.

This one is done. A teaser picture with a 61 conv which was the second kit I did after returning to building in 2013. The convert. is modeled after one I owned in 1969, just before I went in the service. Thanks to all who commented and checked this thread out. I'm going to post some pictures in Under Glass.

The kit I think think would be the best for gasser parts sure goes for big bucks on e-bay. One is 80 bucks, another is up for $49.95 plus shipping, but has a make an offer tag on it, I just bid on one that was $16.50 but was promptly out bid. That one isn't up until late July so I'll watch that one to see how it goes. -

The chili dogs at Daisy's are great. I ordered two and was sorry I did. One was more than enough. They still had a bunch of plastic kits and what they advertised as the last run of die casts. -
Interesting Corvair.

I have to agree about the skirts. Not a big fan. They look OK on some 50's and early 60's, but other than that no. -

Thanks for the tips guys. I think this will be a come as close as I can build, matching as much as I can to the real one. In a stroke of good luck I have the 65 Galaxy kit, and a couple of big Ford motors put aside. I have the 57 Ford kit with a lot of the gasser parts left over because I built th street rod version of the kit.
