Made a two hour trip to a small general in Quakertown, in part to check out the model and paint section. They have a nice selection of oddball kits on hand. A Pinto ans a Gremlin were next to each other for example. They have a better selection of paints than Michaels. I found some old Boyd spray paint so I picked them up.

I have two Paranha kits to build. One is the spy car version, and the other the new release of the race team. Has anyone tried doing one with the Revell Parts pack Corvair motors and if so how di it work out?
-
Thanks. The paint is Dupli-color Hyundai Dark Cherry Red #BHY1801 over Dupli-color Silver plus two coats of Future.
-
Yes. A pair of black and gold and black and silver are in the kit.

Oldschool4X4, thanks and I don't mind the picture at all,. Love the gasser look. SOHC is done and in. I had to search to find a set of headers that fit right and looked OK.

Two of the best drag cars I’ve ever seen

Not a Mustang fan, but I am a fan of works of art like these. -
More done. It looks like I can fit the blown SOHC motor in with some work. I sanded the chrome strips off the body, and found a hood scoop in the AMT 66 Nova Bill Jenkins kit, and also will use the traction bars from that kit since they're the only one I have on hand. I need to go back to browsing some resin castes for supplies.

I started with AMT's 56 Ford Vicky kit, and chose to do a full drag version of the kit. The motor will be a surprise, but I want to wait to see if I can make it fit before it name it. I'll stay as close as I can to the appearance of the 1:1.

1:1 56 Ford gasser

I've started this one. I decided to go with a strip version of this car with a blown motor using this one a guidance, rather than than a close copy of this car. Once I started on it my creativity took charge of the build. I'l start a thread under the drag car section with build pictures, but here's a couple of teaser pics. -
This one is done. Anybody have a spare door decal (the one with the checkered flags?). I see I messed up one of them.

BMF looks better then the pen, but my unsteady hand let the knife slip as I trimmed the foil. This left a line in the plastic that the knife followed when I re-foiled. When I tried to remove the foil some of the paint came off, so I had to strip the body, and came up with plan B. Foil is better looking though.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. So I repainted it, applied the decals, covered them with two coats of Future, then masked off the side stripes and went to work with a Molotow marker. It came out pretty good, I thimk.

I'll be posting more pictures of this one I gave up on the foil, and stripped everything off, repainted it and came up with a plan B. The first builds I did with foil came out pretty good, but I seem to have lost my touch with it. I'll post some picture soon to show where I am and go over the plan B that worked out pretty good.

Thanks. The closer you got to it the sloppier it looked. he wheels were done first with Testors met. silver and then a wash using Testors flat black acrylic wash. The lug nuts were touched with a Molotow pen, but they don't pop all that much. The tires were sprayed with Testors dull coat which also helps the wheels out. This is the first time I've tried this on the tires, and I like the look.

I really messed up on the body. I tried to do the BMF first and had a heck of a time getting the paint off the foil, then tried using a Molotow pen to do some of the chrome. So it went into brake fluid to strip it all off.

Thanks Force, but it's too late, and although it's inaccurate I like the look of the gauge decals. Too bad they didn't do it right. Other than the seats the interior is done, and the hod is painted the final color. It's a little lighter than the original, but it sure is a pretty color. I did get the hood vents open, Thanks gtx6970.

Thanks for all the looks and kind words.

This is an interesting idea. I'll be watching it.
